I haven't updated this in a bit. Here we go.
Got the top mount wrapped and ready to go. Just some electrical and it should fore up this next weekend. Easter present !
Yes that is the point. Anyone can strap a wastegate actuator on these turbos but to control it properly will be interesting experiment. We saw a huge difference in spool on the diesel when we had the stepper control system. Controlling the position of the vane is crucial. Open and closed is...
Why run a small turbo when you can a big turbo that spools like a small turbo. Well that is what this build will find out .
The turbo on the left is a 16g and the one on the right is the Blaylock Switchblade turbo. We will be testing this turbo first since it has be proven on a diesel truck...
This turbo is basically a HX40 where the turbine throat area can be anywhere between 3 to 25 cm^2 depending on vane position. For reference a normal HX40 T4 flange is 18cm^2 and a mitsu 16g is 7cm^2. So this could have some very interesting spool characteristics.
Hello everyone just wanted to show everyone my build. It's not really just mine I have had a lot of help to get it to its current point and have a ways to go.The goal of the vehicle is to be a test platform for new variable vane turbos on the market. This leads to my first post. We decided...
Manifold has one of the four runners tacked up. Having an issue scheduling my welding friend to come out and help now that he works 70+ hours on week plus more where he just has to show at events. Hoping to make progress this week or next week.
3 Piece Square Drive Socket CapsI use these and a socket. It allows me to fit a wrench right above the compressor housing. It is still a pain but this makes it tolerable.
The 98-99 block and main girdle are machined slightly differently to use the three piece thrust main. The issue with the three piece thrust main bearing in a pre 97 block is the two "new/separated" parts of the thrust bearing wouldn't have a surface to prevent rotation and would rotate with the...
Was your foot on the accelerator the entire time? The log only shows it open by ~1%. Did your throttle cable adjustment on the manifold slip? Reset your simulated TPS.
I am seeing the O2 sensor at .9 saying you are running rich but the ECU is coming back with and AFRESTIMATE of >15.5AFR and the WBO2 can be up to 18AFR and the COMBINE FT are pulling >10% of your fuel. The grams per rev appear to be very high at over .35 at 800ish. Its hard to tell this with...
Your VE table jumps from 37% to 55% back and forth throwing your COMBFT all over the place. try to revert back to your old table and see if that helps.
I answer almost this same question two weeks ago.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cylinder-head-short-block/436487-oil-pump-front-case-g4cs-hyundai-ebay-link.html
That is 15 minutes of idle. It is a 2.3 stroker and we used the non oem pan from graveyard and the crank was hitting the pan, just slightly. We thought it was rod knock and come to see there was a small mark on the pan where the crank was hitting. But the Moly lube buildup was quite...
I am getting my car ready for the turbo to be installed in the next few months. After that will be A LOT of tuning of the fin movement. We had a goal of making it to the shootout but unfortunately I had a few other things come up that required my time and money. So we will see but my GSX is...
Yes I hope to be pushing 60-70 lbs/min this summer. The goal of this manifold to maximize efficiency, smooth flow, and high flow. So in theory it should be an upgrade for anything.
@steve - I have run each runner individual to see how well each is balanced in relation to each other. I have the pictures but they don't show much since the difference is slight but its is there ~10 difference% over all the runners. The next step will be a dynamic run which will see how the...
Well my big build coming up this summer and no 2g Magnus intake manifold yet. So I have decided to design my own. Plus knowing the best aluminum fab guy on in the central PA region helps, shoutout to Erbified Motorsports (he is a supporting freelancer so I should be able to do that). Being...
I use one but it has a sketchy history.-It was installed on the car with an eBay bs delete kit.
-400 miles later the oil pump gear flat the sprocket mates to rounded out causing the oil pump sprocket to spin freely without turning the oil pump.
-We analyzed the failure and attributed it to...
It looks like you tried to flash ROM with the wrong XML. It happened to me a couple of times. I never got mine to work afterward. I still have them on the shelf.I am not saying its bricked but I never got mine recovered.I did this to mine by trying to flash the speed density XML with a...
Hopefully that is all it is.I know when I did a leakdown on my car I couldn't check 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 at the same time. It would appear that one of the cylinders still had some valves open. So I had to do 4 then rotate 180 degrees and check to see if 2 or 3 to see which one would hold...
Check your intake and exhaust ports for oil. If you got new guides and seals and they were installed incorrectly you could still be leaking. The other options are oil pushing past the rings, running down the return through the brand new hg (I highly doubt it), there is only one high pressure...
Bleed all the lifters and then measure them. If they are pumped up and the other three are not they will appear differentheights. To bled them stick a paper clip down the hole and try to compress the lifter. Warning: Oil everywhere.
Yep but he said he was taking the head off so why not pull the cams if he is unsure of the firing order.I also edited it to just say popping off the rockers because that would allow the valves to stay closed without needing to mess with the timing belt.
This thread compares EVO manifolds... Similar to ours.Intake manifold dyno tests and facts only..Interesting read. The only thing I got out of it is how awesome the cast magnus really is.
The 2.0 (85mm) and 2.4 (86.5mm) pistons are different diameters. The 2.0 piston will be too small. The crank difference is 88mm for a 2.0 and 100mm for a 2.4.The height difference in the piston you are referring to is a 2.0 to 2.3. The 2.3 uses a 2.0 block and the 2.4 crank with special...
Most shops break in their engines on the dyno ;)The hard break is the best for turbo engines. The extra boost and cylinder pressures and heat help push the rings against the wall helping them seal better.I always do the idle with cheap oil drain and replace filter then beat the Piss out of...
Full of bull. Nothing wrong with running a cut crank. It's microcracks that break cranks and crank grooves, knock, and low oil that spin bearings. Since you cut your crank you have no worries. Just monitor knock, oil pressure, and change your oil every 3000 miles with oil containing high...
I would much rather fill via the reverse switch than the speed sensor, but thats just me. I also always crack my fill plug loose first then I do the drain to make sure I am never in a situation like this. Hindsight is always 20/20.As many of the guys mention above do it the right way...
DSMlink all the way. I used to use ceddy and still do on other people's car but if I am constantly tweaking tables and settings DSMlink makes it so easy. Plus once you use the built in dataloging you'll wonder why anyone uses anything beside link. It's what happened to me.
Don't bother with AEM. Unless you are going for huge horsepower all the "extra features" will confuse you. Simply put. I was working on a car 2.3 stroker with 272 cams and 1600cc injectors. We couldn't get the stock maps and scaled injectors to start. When we finally did the warm fuel enrichment...
I do have the narrowband simulation turned on in ECMLink and it appears to be pegged at .2V until it hits the high RPMs... I have the switch over voltage right at 14.7afr.
Ok I have a 2g with DSMLink. All these issues started after switching to DSMLink. When I am coasting I have horrible RPM surge going on.It only happens when the car is warmed up and I am coasting. It will go from 1200 RPMs quickly to 1800 RPMs and drop back to 1200 and repeat but only...
10.5 afr is pretty rich, I aim for 11.5-12.0 generally. I see more noise the richer I have my AFRs generally a blip of .4-1.4 of knock when I run richer than 11.5. But what you have is showing as alot of knock. Have you tried reading your plugs? Do they show sign of knock? Any drive train...
I see you have the narrowband simulated. Are you sure you have the correct voltage in there or are you just guessing?Your combined fuel trims are pulling a TON of fuel. You need to get the combined FT closer to 3-5%. Your grams per rev should be .25-.28. Another thing is your MAFCOMP needs...
