Like Bryanwheat said. It will be fine. Your only jacking the engine up a little to allow you to remove the motor mount and bracket. After that you can remove it until you go back to working on it. The tranny, front and Rear roller mount will be more than enough to support it after the drivers...
Have you checked to make sure there are no uneven surfaces or trash blocking the O-ring from sitting correctly in there? You could try re-seating it with a little RTV.
I've never supported my engine with a jack when ever I pull my trans for a clutch job. Although I never done it on the ground before. I always use a lift.
++1 Bryanwheat. The passenger side fan comes on when your temp switch hits a certain temp and closes the connection allowing passenger fan to come on. Once its reached its proper temp it will open the connection and shut the power to that fan. Did you check to see if your compressor clutch is...
Is your AC not blowing cold? turn on your AC and look at your compressor and see if the comressor clutch is engaging. If its not engaging you could be low on freon. Or your freon might be fine and your pressure switch is faulty. To ping in on what GSLENK said. The compressor fan will kick on...
It could be your up stream sensor. but you should get some type of data logger. Its a great tool to keep in your car. Your MpG could be a few things. Is your Cel on? are you feeling any type of misfire?
If bank 1 and 2? our cars dont have two banks. You have bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 1 sensor 2 with sensor 2 being the one that monitors your cat. If you had a injector issue or a ignition misfire you would feel it, especially if your gas mileage is that bad. Use a data logger and watch your fuel...
I wouldn't take your car to Phantasm. My brother took his 2g GST there because of an exhaust leak and the next day found a burning smell. He found duck tape wrapped around his down-pipe.
Ok I get what your saying. I will also throw dedicated ground to the alt itself. Thanks for the help again guys. I was just in the shop earlier and kept seeing a sub fuseable link in it.
Yeah sorry about the double post. I originally posted under electrical. And after reloading I couldn't locate it s after that I posted in the NUB section. Ok i will just change the fuse in the fuse/relay box from 80 to a 100. Isn't there one on the positive battery post? I no longer have the...
Well Im a mechanic and made sure i changed the O-rings in the lines at the PS pump before i replaced it the first time no leaks. Is your DSM Canadian or US? if its Canadian it will have the right fuses and links for a 90 amp since Canada requires day light lamps. I am looking in the shop manual...
Hows it going everyone? I have a quick question and I searched but maybe I am over looking. I have had 65amp alternators go out on my in the past 4 months both reman's. Today i am picking up a 90 amp Galant alt to put in. I know i need to change out the 80 amp fuse with a 100amp. My question is...

A +1 on all the replies you received. All of these guys are correct. When it comes to your DSM you should be the one working on it. I have never trusted my DSM in the hands of anyone. The guys that work with me in the shop don't even touch them. If one comes in the owner makes sure it comes to...
I have had this issue. I replaced my clutch and got a new slave from O'Rileys and the push rod was too short. I then returned it and went next door to advance and had the same issue. Ended up going to the dealership and getting an OEM. (you can yell at me later for trying the wal-mart of auto...
??? This just totally threw me off. I was expecting to jump in a post and hopefully help someone out. Now I am just sitting here with a look on my face. (imagine seeing a dancing moose) That's the look I had after reading his post. Is his Head off right now? If so why is he asking about fuel...
1g's have one O2. The one on the O2 housing between your down pipe and turbo. If you feel your O2 is dead swap it out and reset your ECU just disconnect the battery for a couple minutes. You should look into a data logger. Even if your car is stock its something nice to have around for...
Its not hard to find. passenger side kick panel, I wanna say its only 3 bolts holding it on. If your trying to check it you might be able to hear it click on/off if you listen close enough. Is there a reason your trying to locate it?
What are the ambient temp's there? Just curious. Where I was stationed before summer was warm but not HOT and here in NC the summers are warm as well. Now If I was back down in Houston Texas I wouldn't remove the cooler.
I would say check your tires. I have had customers come in the shop with that issue and its the tires them self. You might have a separation issue going on that hasn't let itself out the closet fully.
Set your timing to TDC pull the valve cover and make sure nothing broke up top. If nothing broke you can chance it by throwing a new blet tensioners and all the fun stuff on it. Me personally I would pull the head and check the top of the pistons as well. From there I would make my decision.
P1500: Generator FR terminal Circuit- Will be cause by a faulty Alternator. Check your connector on your alt and make sure its fully seated. if it is get a voltage-meter and check to see if its pushing the right amount of current out while the car is running. You will most likely need to replace...
I can also ask how many miles. At that speed and the belt breaking good chances are you will have some piston damage. Also if it has a lot of miles on it your might be better off throwing a rebuilt in there, no sense in putting a fresh head on an old block. Good luck and hope it didn't mess...
++1 on the blower motor. You should get a power probe and shoot power to the blower motor it self. If it comes on that way then the most likely cause is your blower motor resistor. I will have to look at the wiring diagram and check but I believe all modes including high runs on the same...
Exactly Brianwheat!! Only time i use a pickle for is if the joint is completely seized then there's no choice but to break out the pickle and air hammer. I only had a couple cars come in the shop that were like that.
With your minor description I would say it is most likely to be something minor. Like other people have suggested do some checks. They are simple If it came down to it rebuilding your engine would be cheaper and much better than trying to chance a N/T motor in there.
Dsm-man is also correct. I just replaced my valve cover a couple of months ago due to hair-line cracks. Found a nice used one on ebay that was cleaned up and coated with Lab-metal and powder coated for about 80 bucks shipped.
Replace the oil cap, like people mentioned before change your plugs and wires. A wally fuel pump can be loud but a fuel pump going bad can sound the same. Do like Snowborder714 advised and pull the pump and check to see if its a wally. If its not a wally go ahead and replace it because it sounds...
A good sign the alt is going bad is a squeal. I have seen alternators totally burn out after 2 -3 weeks from this squeal. I would def. pull it out and take it to get tested for free at a local auto parts store. (most places offer free testing.) My bet is your regulator in the alt. is starting to...
Those are all good starting points. Back probe the wires and see if your getting the right voltage while trying to start it. If you need some pointers on what numbers you should see just ask or send me a PM and I will post the info you need.
Head gasket could be the issue but a burn valve sounds more likely to zero compression. do a leak down and check at the back of your car and tell us if you hear a hissing. But a head gasket could be it as well but I will lean more towards a burned valve.
Def. a starter bro. The shaft on the inside of the starter is not engaging all the way. Go ahead and replace it before it cracks your flywheel or starts breaking teeth off your flywheel. I've seen a few DSM's come into the shop with that issue some were lucky and some had to cough it up for a...
One thing it could be is a spring from your clutch pack popped out and is not allowing your clutch to do its job. I have seen this numerous times in the shop. And you cant tell until you remove the transmission and visually look. It wont make any kind of sounds to make you think something is...
