ok, I know this is a bit late winded. I just put a 98 auto harness in my 95 auto. I can get it to run but it seems only on 2 cylinders. I am running my 95 ecu still. I think firing order is correct but was wondering if you have to change the injector wiring as well?
Welcome to the dsm community. Check if you are getting spark. If not, 9 times out of 10 its the crank sensor. Also make sure you here the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key to the on position. Hope this helps
I got my 95 tsi auto last summer with a bad tranny, and got a hell of a deal on a replacement. Put it in over the winter and driving it and having fun. DSM's really can't be beat for the price of what you can get them for and also the parts.
Adjusting the CAS would effect the timing across the bored not just for a correction. As far as I know you can run up to 650cc injectors on the stock ecu, anything bigger and you should have at least an eeprom chip otherwise link is the way to go
Ok, I've searched and can't find an answer. So here goes. I have a 95 talon tsi awd that I just put a fresh tranny in. I drove the car to my dad's shop to weld up the shock towers and put a new trans cooler in. After that I went to drive the car home and I noticed that my speedo was getting up...
I got this talon tword the end of this last summer. Traded my old 92 swapped fwd talon.Ok So not monster status yet. I just picked this up in a trade for my old fwd swapped 92 tsi. Here it is, my first auto. Completely untouched. Everything works accept... the tranny. Sounds as if the...
Idk what the flash codes are but you can always look in a haynes manual. Otherwise you should invest in a Palm III data logger. It can be used as a 1g code scanner and you can clear the codes as well. You will only spend about $30 to $60.
Also you are about at the limit with the safc for injector size. One probrlem with a maf-t and safc is they can't adjust for timing. Though plenty of people run the same-ish setup you will find that a lot of them run into this problem. I would almost try turning the boost down to around 15 psi...
I would go with an Ebay (Godspeed) actually good for the money. You will spend only around $150 for
a t3 T04E 50 trim turbo. You can get them in a few different flavors as well like internally gated or not. hope that helps. They also offer warranty on their stuff.
For sure you have to get a turbo FWD mount. I did a full swap in my old 92 that started as an N/T 2.0. Also make sure you use all 4 bolts around the bell housing, I personally only ran 3 before I swapped the car and it will only be a matter of time that the bell housing will crack. You may know...
The stock one will still give you an idea, good oil pressure is right around the middle of the gauge. If you aren't leaking oil, check your oil filter housing for clogging, and see if your dipstick is sealing. Giving you wouldn't lose much at all from the dip stick but just something else to check.
Also check your tps sensor, it may not be the problem but I dealt with no power after 5k also and it turned out that the tps was only set to 94% at full throttle so I rotated it and got it to 98% at wide open throttle. Like I said just a thouht
you're on it dude....lol. Honestly forums are a very good source to learn tuning especially because you can learn from something from other people's mistakes. And you can find forums for most any type of tuning systems, anything from just a maf translator to safc, mega squirt or even dsm link.
Just wondering what the point of removing the sound deadening is? I mean weight reduction probably but I can't imagine more than a few pounds. Though I may be wrong, I'm not a connoisseur of weight reduction.
for the sake of ease it depends on what bolt ons you are talking about. If you are just doing a basic turbo and injector upgrade like a 16g and 550cc or 560cc injectors then an safc will suffice. But if you want full tuning capability then yes dsmlink is the best way, but be prepared to spend at...
A vacuum leak doesn't usually cause a high idle. Check your idle adjustment. Also check your inter cooler piping for leaks it may be sucking in un metered air.
the common place to leak vacuum is around the intake gasket, throttle body gasket, the egr valve. Also check all vacuum connections because it sounds like even before you switched your turbo you had a problem. The good vacuum zone is between 18 and 22 psi.
The cheapest option for exhaust but effective I think would be to go to your local exhaust shop and have them do a 2.5" or 3" straight back. If you still want a cat. then I would just put a high flow on it. If you want something to bolt on the yes ebay or xtreme psi would be good places to check.
I think you have quite an overkill start, but not bad. You could follow a path but if it were me I would dive in. I think a good turbo to start with would be a big 16G, I know that's pretty much what everyone does but its effective and you can hit a solid amount of boost and consistency. Its...
I agree, when you are under boost you create crank case pressure and when the turbo spools it will pull vacuum and relieve pressure from the engine. There is also a spring mod you can do on your dip stick but it would be better to relieve pressure instead of forcing it to stay in the motor...
I would look up a guy on here called doubleclutch99, Head builds anything from stock to performance. We deal with dsm graveyard for machining and cleaning. He may be able to build you something good and save you some money. He is located in muskegon mi.
If you don't want to deck your block then I would get a composite gasket, it will adhere to any warp edge that there may be. I've always just used FEL-Pro gaskets that you can get at most any auto parts store. I wouldn't suggest a cheap one off ebay. In my experience they hold compression on the...
Something you could consider is doing an srt4 swap. I've only seen 1 but it Worked well. If you can find a wrecked srt4 it might be worth looking into.
iI have personally also bought ebay products. On really great value is the evergreen gasket kit. everything for $50, you really can't beat it. THe only problem I noticed was that the head gasket leaked but didn't blow. I also reused my stock head bolts so that probably has something to do with...
you can definitely make FWD fast, I think most people see building a FWD as a waste of time when they offered an AWD version of our cars. Over all I am with you, I am putting new suspension on mine and adding a bigger turbo and more fuel. The hardest part is launching out of the hole, top end is...
Well I have a few suggestions. For one, you might want to try running 2.5" intercooler piping as you don't have enough turbo to supply the air needed to run that big. Also are you using stock 450cc injectors? If so you will want to upgrade to at least 550cc. With your setup I would also get a...
I have personally done the esi to tsi swap and I will tell you its the best thing I ever did. As far as the tranny goes, you can you the n/t tranny but you will need like a stage 1 disc. Even at that it still won't hold up like a turbo tranny. I got mine for about $150. The stock n/a fuel pump...
I just got a hold of a conquest maf sensor that I'm going to do an experiment with. I will let you know how it turns out. If it works I'm sure it will help your problem.
