Like Doubleot said, go to a Home Depot (or other hardware store) and grab a 1 1/4" hose. I bought a IG stock BOV, and searched every Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, and Advance Auto Parts I could to find a hose. I finally went with the stock tube from my local dealership. But, the hot tub hose will work...
I agree with all that posted before, beautiful car. The Talon TSI bumper (2Gb) is the sweetest-looking stock bumper...at least IMO. Congrats on finding a good one, and good luck!
It's all good, man...no harm, no foul. I frequent on a football MB, but don't post often, and when I do, people fly outta nowhere, and start ripping my posts apart because they think I pissed on their "cyberspace territory" or something. That's why I don't post on these things too often, I come...
Wow.
Uh, ok, sorry I jacked your thread. Yes, that's appears to be the tube I asked about...don't know for sure, since you don't have any pics listed in this thread.
And, about the thread jacking thing, this thread's been rolling for 3 pages now...you've gotten plenty of good advice from...
Hey, Mork, I got a ? for ya. In the pic that you provided, the tube that runs from the 1G BOV recirc. fitting to the intake recirc. fitting...is that a stock 2G tube? From that pic, it looks like a hard, cast plastic pipe. See, I bought my Talon used, and the previous owner (obviously an asshat)...
Check the idler pulley too...sometimes the bearing can lock up and do that. That's what happened to me, the bearing seized up and snapped the belt, then locked up the a/c clutch. Had to get a new compressor.
Hey all you guys in New Jersey, I got a ? for you. Doesn't New Jersey have the most landfill sites, garbage sites, and one of the biggest violators of EPA laws in the entire country? You know, smokestacks, air pollution and the like? I'm pretty sure Texas is, cause it's so frickin' big...
Good description, DSM1G90... spot on. I thought about attempting to describe the operation of the solenoid, but figured I'd come off like a total tool while doing so. (Even more than usual) I will add, that I used to have a 1G Laser (1.8l), and it had battery teminal corrosion issues. One day it...
Try the solenoid. I'll give you pretty good odds that's your culprit. Here's why I say this: I have the same problem. I checked the steering wheel column for loose wires, I checked the neutral safety switch (clutch starter switch), I checked the starter, all that. It was my solenoid going out. I...
Well, let's get serious. That car wasn't going anywhere high-performance wise anyways. Unless you did a engine swap. The engine didn't look all that bad from the pics, unless there were a lot of cut wires and/or harnesses. As long as the tranny looked decent, and the tires were still holding...
Yeah, they do make great daily drivers! I had a '94 Laser 1.8, and for a SOHC naturally-aspirated motor, it was a surprisingly quick little car. Wish I still had it, it got beat on so much when I was in college.... it ran great through all that, though. If the price is right, snag it! And they...
This may sound like a no-brainer, but don't forget to replace the thermostat gasket as well. Especially if your t-stat overheated & locked up on you. I know people that replaced the stat & not the gasket (figuring it looked good, it couldn't hurt) & drove around. They'd start losing coolant and...
I've always heard that white smoke=burning coolant. Judging by the pics you have shown, I'd check the exhaust manifold gasket. It could be your culprit. Someone on here posted that a bad exhaust manifold gasket can cause some coolant to seep in and be burned in the combustion chamber along with...
I'll third that. And I'll up the ante....check the tension on your alt. belt. It could be a little loose. Just because it's not squealing doesn't mean it's not loose. Mine did similar stuff too...I'd be driving on the freeway @ 60-70mph & the batt./alt. light would flicker on & off. Once I...
Hey Tom, I got a question for you: a while back (over 2 years ago) my ISC motor went out, and my idle began surging and getting ragged. I talked to my dad's mechanic (at my father's insistance) and he said "no big deal, it won't hurt the car's driving ability, just the idle." So I ran for all...
Oh hell, I'll be the test-dummy and ask this question: could it be the vehicle speed sensor? My cruise control just quit working one day, and I replaced the dash-switch...it wasn't that. I asked a trusted source @ my Mitsu dealership, and he told me to replace the vehicle speed sensor (I think...
Damn, I'm glad someone started this thread, ### I've been thinking of doing the same. I get a lot of noise off my pulleys, and have been thinking of replacing them. At first, I was looking at the polished or chrome looking ones (Unorthodox racing pulleys, I think?) but have heard that they can...
Or you could use compressed air. Got an air compressor and a blower attachment? That's usually what I use. It knocks out all of the dirt, and especially the wet, mashed-up leaves that always seem to find their way in there.[Compressed air will tend to blow the hose off the drain if it's a...
I had the same problem....I went to an O'Reilly's store and got a new Master Cylinder. But something didn't look right. It matched up right, but I was still unsure. I ordered one from a Mitsu. dealership, and it cost around $30.00 more, but I put it in instead, took the O'Reilly knock-off back...
Ahhh.....yes, the famous rear main seal (timing seal). Let me tell you, I've owned two DSM's (a '94 1.8L Laser, and my current '95 TSI AWD), and they both had to have the timing belt/seal replaced. Twice on the Talon- it popped a timing belt at around 75K mi., and around 120K mi. the seal dried...
Hell, I've had problems with Autozone checking CEL codes on my car. Sometimes they'll tell me they can't run it for codes '### it a '95 model. They claim their testers will only work on "96 & newer models. I've been told that by a couple different AutoZones. I tell them it's a '96, and no big...
As far as the idle goes, I believe there's a testing procedure for the IAC (or ISC) where you can test the resistances for each pin. Your idle speed motor's coil may be going out. As for the starter, when you had it checked, did they check the solenoid?
Oh, this brings backs memories. My stock Alt. went out on me, so I got a good deal @ O'Reillys (My friend is the manager). Put it in, and after 2 wks., the voltage light kept kicking on. I checked and doublechecked all the cables & belts, it still kept doing it. Finally, I broke down and bought...
It only happens when you hit bumps, right? I'd check the upper control arms on both sides. See if the rubber bushings(I think they're rubber) are in good shape, or there at all. On mine, the rubber was shredded, and when I would hit a hard bump, the arm would contact the tire (or that's my best...
Yeah, happened to me, as well. I would also recommend replacing both the Master and Slave Cylinders. I replaced the line only because I broke the previous one. I found that replacing the line and slave @ the same time makes it a little easier, too. Not as much of a chance of cross-threading. By...
Hey guys, what's going on? I've read these forums & FAQs for years, but never really posted or replied until now. I replaced my stock oil pressure sensor with a new one from my local Mitsu. Factory Dealer, and it looked totally different. But, the thread looked correct, so I proceeded to thread...
