Some people have problems with the Aeromotive fpr (like me too). A guy on the DSMTalk forum actually called Aeromotive to see why the fpr won't hold pressure after the car is shut off. They told him that the ball inside the fpr is so large (since it flows so much) that it doesn't completely...
Try my website. I have the service manual pages in there under trouble codes.http://myweb.cableone.net/users/199/halvorja/MFI%20Troubleshooting.htmYour problem has multiple possible causes, and I wish you luck.Jake
Check out the ground connections on you exhaust. If you want, replace the ground wires with new ones and make sure you clean the connections.See if that helps first. It's cheap and then you don't have to wonder.Jake
It was your battery, not those grounding cables. You most likely had a few bad cells in the battery, so that you had enough juice to run the accessories, but not to start the car. It takes quite a bit to turn over a motor. You may just want to check out the alternator. Make sure it is...
I have Ultra-Lite gauges (boost and oil pressure). They don't have to be on when your headlights are not on. It all depends on how you wire it. Just wire it into the parking lights and they will only come on when you have the parking lights or headlights on.In my opinion, they look really...
I just ordered a USB to Serial adapter from my favorite internet computer place. www.mwave.comWe'll see what happens. I figure for $27.00 I can't go wrong.
I am in the same boat. I have been using the Palm version of DSMLink and it works great, but I would like to hook up to the laptop sometime soon. I haven't heard anything about using a USB to serial adapter. If anybody knows, please inform us.PS - Have you asked on the DSMLink user...
I don't think a 1g turbo ECU and 1g N/T ECU are interchangeable. Different sensors, fuel tables, etc. The car is most likely so screwed up that it is running in limp mode.
I'm hoping that everybody who posted 0.28 (or similar) without a zero between the decimal point and the number 2 (i.e. 0.028), simply forgot; otherwise, you boys better fix that 1/4" gap you have.If you meant to put 0.28, please list the modifications done to your car to accept such a...
Put simply, when you lie to a computer, the output from the computer is often unexpected and unwanted. The stock fuel computer has a certain way of doing things. If you input a certain value, then it looks at it's fuel map and says, "Ok, so the input is this and I need to change this, this...
I have the DSMLink. I really enjoy it and you don't need a laptop.Version 2.0 is coming out for the DSMLink which will even have a feature so you don't have to take your foot off the gas when shifting. It will hold your rpm's at a certain point (you decide), until you release the clutch...
I certainly have. If you have a dremel or drill you can do this mod for about $5. All you need are zip ties and some gutter guard. The gutter guard I bought was solid aluminum, so it won't rust. Here's the link to my website. You'll find the install in the modifications page...
I would check the alternator. That sounds like the likely culprit. Do you have a multitester?? If not, get one. Then you can check the battery voltage and see if the alternator is charging.Jake
A damper's sole purpose is to "dampen" vibration. So, it is designed to keep the engine from vibrating so much. That extra little weight may not seem like much, but when you are at higher rpm's it'll make a difference. You don't need it, but I guess I would replace it just to keep the engine...
Yeah, you're running rich because you are overrunning the stock fpr. Get an afpr so you can turn the pressure down. I've got an Aeromotive with fuel lines I put together. It works great.A fuel management system will not solve your high fuel pressure. That is only a band-aid fix.Jake
Trim the support and put it back in there. If you get hit in the front, there will be A LOT more damage if it isn't installed. I've also heard that insurance will not give you money if you don't have it properly installed and get in a wreck.Jake
My injectors tick, but when I give it gas, it stops. I know my injectors are on their last legs, maybe something has happened to your fuel delivery?Just a thought,
Jake
You wan't a good sound that isn't too loud and has some low tone to it? You are describing the Borla catback. I have it, and I consider it the best cat-back out there (of course I would say that, right?). Seriously, if you haven't yet considered it, check it out. It is definately not the...
When was the last time the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, etc. replaced? You also might think about removing the balance belt from the car too.Jake
Wow, I offer sound advice and I get laughed at?? A high pressure Walbro in the hands of a novice can cause problems. They wanted to know what the POTENTIAL hazards were, and I listed them. Just because I stated them as POTENTIAL doesn't mean they will happen.I get tired of people who...
What could happen is that when you are at idle or at lower rpm's, the injectors will inject too much fuel into the cylinders since you are overrunning them. The potential problems are:
Bad gas mileage
Carbon buildup
Poor idle/stalling
Washing the cylinders, which means no...
You are correct. In fact, somebody wrote a program so you can use the DSMLINK with a palm. You don't even need a laptop anymore. I'm not sure if the palm version is as flexible as the laptop version, however.Jake
I have the same problem and, unfortunately, it is because you upgraded the pipes and BOV. Now that you have upgraded, the turbo has the ability to boost faster. Because of this, the car speeds up faster and goes past the speed set by the cruise control. The ECU then slows the car down and the...
Since your battery cable was loose, the ECU lost power and reset itself. When you start it again, it has to relearn for a little while. That is why it was running funny. Your idle should be fine after a few minutes, and FIX THAT BATTERY CABLE!!Jake
Instead of "smoking", do you mean you could see steam or water evaporating from it??If that is what you meant, then you probably had a leak which allowed hot coolant to evaporate out of (steam). Now, with the pressure on that leak, it has gotten big enough to allow more coolant to come out...
I believe you can go onto the borla site and actually listen to the sound each exhaust produces on each car.Performance is awesome and it is definately not too loud on the freeway. Very bassy and deep tone at idle and when downshifting. In other words, I absolutely love it. It is...
I bought a borla cat-back, which is not yet rusting. It was fairly expensive, but they guarantee it for the life of your car. Good deal in my opinionJake
I say it is not a waste of time. You can get some practice with porting and, when you decide to upgrade the turbo, you will feel confident that you can do porting work yourself.I vote for good learning experience.Jake
Did you measure around the pipe (circumference)?? If so, then...2*(pi)*radius = 8 inches.radius = 1.27 inches.diameter = 2.54 inches.Is that what you meant?Jake
