I had the privilege of talking to him a few times over the years. Most recently last year at the Shootout. Stand-up guy. I had a few questions regarding a turbo setup, and spent time with me going over things for my end goal. Dude really had a passion and was a good genuine person. If he ends up...
This is exactly why I've never pulled the trigger in ordering parts from him either. Really wanted a sunroof plug, hood, etc. I just can't get passed the dishonest relationships he has with customers.
When I lived in Blacksburg, VA. I had several small electric space heaters that kept the garage / work area warm enough that I could wrench on the car. Now living in South FL I am needing cooling solutions for my garage XD
Usually OEM Turbo's made by Mitsu will have a plate/stamp on them with the serial numbers. Def looks like a knock off. :)Perfect for the scrap yard! Might make a couple cents/dollars off of it.
I was actually excited when I heard you got this car. I am slightly tempted to buy off your 2ga set if you decide to go 2gb.. but I've done so much work to go full 2gb already.Still though, enjoy your GSX!
Stock.... trust me 420a's do not sound great at all in their N/T form with an open exhaust. When I had my 95 ESi, that was my first "mod". Reverting back to a stock exhaust from a horrible 3.5" exhaust. Sounded 10000% better and even gained some TQ on the lower RPM band. :)
If it is the disc, I'm leaning more towards a defective unit batch, as I've run a Advanced Auto Parts brand one for 4 years now, 1 1/2 years the car was AWD and didn't have any issues.
Keep in mind you did add quite a few extra pounds with the AWD swap, not to mention the spyder is pretty heavy already ;)This is your second clutch, and sounds like this is the issue. Gonna be time to move away from part store clutches and upgrade to a nice south bend or at least ACT...
Necro-Revive-Update on this thread. Four years later, alternator is still running like a champ with no issues. One of the best mods I've done along side getting ECMlink.
I've been subscribed to this thread since it was first created, and completely forgot about this. I'm definitely looking forward to the results as well.
When I was 17, I was paying around $300 Down payment with a $260ish monthly payment for 6 months of PIP only insurance. As time went on, it eventually got cheaper. A few years later I was paying for 2 cars under PIP for around $70ish. What is going to really matter is keeping a clean record...
Coming from a 420a owner, the above posts are good advice on saving up for a 4G63 platform for a car to mod. Fix up the 420a, do full maintenance including but not limited to timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, acc belts, ect. Then enjoy a nice DD, while repeating the benefits of great MPG's...
I actually liked the Evo-V12's when I first started using them. However, I was disappointed on how quickly they wore out compared to my previous Bridgestones. Even with proper tire rotation and a recent alignment. Not to mention they got quite loud.
They both bolt up, but here is a quick read:Exhaust Manifold differences between 1st and 2nd gensNot too sure on the 6-bolt coolant lines for the turbo however. On the 7-Bolts, you can slightly bend to make work for a 14b/16g setup.
The turbo you are probably referring to is the 13G Turbo which came with the auto 1st generation dsms's. Swapping it back to the T-25 shouldn't be too difficult. Swap the 1G exhaust manifold for you 2G one, built the turbo up, and the only modification you'll probably need to make is probably...
I run PR's FMIC, and I don't have any issue's. average temps are roughly 186-193 at the very highest on a super hot day.As said, proper ducting, shielding, and maintaining your cooling system will keep your temps in check.
As most said. Ducting is going to be key for you. I ran into constant battles with trying to retain my A/C with my FMIC. Proper heat shields, fans, and ducting will all be huge factors on a car that can blast A/C all day without any over heating issue's.If you can, I suggest trying to keep...
It's going to be either an issue with the wiring of the head light itself, or could be as simple as replacing the bulb itself which is most likely out.
First of all, sorry creating this thread, as this will probably be moved to the grave yard thread. I've tried searching, but couldn't find a concrete answer for those of us who own a 4G64 Spyder GS. Information on that engine/trans is a bit scarce.Anyway, i'm trying to decide on what gear...
You must send me a video and prove me wrong then! :DEvery 420a N/T I've seen around my area sound like horrible raspy honda fart cans. If not sometimes worse. :(
I don't understand why people keep saying "headers" when our car only uses 1 header.Anyway.Best mod for your car?Do all maintenance on your car. This includes, but is not limited to
-Complete Timing Belt Job
-Water pump (part of T-Belt job)
-Tune up
*Spark Plugs / Wires
*Oil Change...
I can't wait to see pics of those wheels mounted on the car. I'm literally on the verge of ordering them. Just want to see how they look on a DSM first.Google images doesn't really show any dsm's with them. Project is coming along great so far!
Yep! They are super reliable when taken care of properly. Excellent MPG's too. However, for me, it's a bit too under powered. So I got myself a Spyder GS as my permanent daily which has a 4G64 rather then a 420a. MPG's is almost as good, but you trade off some of the mpg for a nice torque on the...
