hard to tell but looks like it could be rehoned and work good for you! and ya most likely it was piston slap that lead to the scoring! your best to bring it to the machine shop and have them mic it out!
go ahead and try building it yourself its always a good accomplishment to do it all on your own and also if you have an issue theres always this site to help you along! also get a 6 bolt motor to build dont build the motor thats in your car! 6 bolts are much better motors and no issue with...
ya not worth $500 honestly needs way to much and makes me wonder why the head was off! sounds like youve realized theres much better out there but incase you havnt there so is!
ya go with the 1g blow off valve and if you do come up with more money dont go with the greddy go with a hks all the way! also pick up a used exhaust on here ive seen some good deals go threw here and it will save you some money!
it will be capable of handle mid 500s but i would say that is maxing it out! wouldnt go any higher then that! so i would say if you think you might want more to just upgrade the rods now!
mines worth whatever i say it is!! if noone wants to pay it then i guess i keep it i wont give it away expecially with all the time and money i got in it!
ya sounds like an ecu problem the power transistor should screw up on cylinder 2 too so varify that cylinder two has good spark then verify you got a good coil by testing the power and switching ground if your getting bad feed then most likely its ecu or wiring
ya go for the delta! i picked up my kelford 280 cams from them for 350 and there exact replicas of the true kelfords and made from billet cores there not straight regrines! good deal and good cams had good luck with mine so far!
ya you need power to turn the car over so you need a good battery otherwise it will show really low! but you should be showing low across all four cylinders so just throw a good battery in and see what it does then!
does it have a 1g cas or 2g? the 1g cas can cause similar problem! could also be a dead cylinder try a compression test and see how your compression is across the board! also check the maf sensor on the intake and make sure thats pluged in!
ya do a clutch adjustment and if no go then you got a bad clutch! i just had the same problem on one of my 2gs and i pulled the tranny and found broken springs on my clutch disk!
ya go threw autozone or schucks or something like that and get the lifetime warranty ones! its nice ive snapped a few axles and i just bring them in and get a new one! and hub wise same thing but they dont have lifetime on those!
also some you have to hold the handle up when you shut the door otherwise it wont lock! try that and see if it stays locked otherwise the locking mechanism is messed up!
ya id say the turbo is shot but without seeing its movement cant be sure but you will have some shavings off of a freshly built motor thats why you do so many oil changes within the first 1000 miles but you shouldnt have any big pieces! not exactly sure why it didnt wiggle the first time but if...
looks like the exhaust manifold sits in to far and its coming in contact with the block! i think you need a upgraded exhaust manifold that sits the turbo out further and that will take care of your issue!
it will work jus fine but its an audi there screwed up in the first place and theres really no fix to them unless you just sell it and buy a dsm! well unless its a r8!!!
did you plug your maf in? also what about the cam or crank sensors and is this a 6 bolt swap or did you put the 7 bolt back in? 6 bolt will have just the cam angle sensor and 7 bolt will have both cas and crank sensor check those!
ya crank seal will make it look like an oil pan! and if its getting on the timing belt its definitly not a oil pan leaking! id lean towards the crank seal from what you said and just replace it!
i think you should go felpro 6 layer headgasket and also go kiggly springs and retainers not bc! and also kelford cams no bc, had bad luck with bc products your welcome to try them if you want but got rid of all mine!
If your cam gear is loose you dont need a holder the bolt should freely come off check that and see but ya dont be running the motor like that or your gonna be ending up with bent valves very soon!
ya it is most likely the wastegate causeing it but ya upgrade your turbo to a 16g you still get to use stock parts and just have to upgrade the turbo! easy upgrade and definitly funner!
yes rough idle could be caused by it but the surge is most likely vacuum related! check your vacuum lines! vacuum problem could also cause the rough idle too!
ya you can just rebuild the bottom end but then your still using a 7 bolt that will potentially lead to the same problem again! go with the built 6 bolt your better off and then its just a quick swap!
ya exactly what he said, 1g tranny wont work in a 2g unless you can really fab up mounts! the tranny mounts up totally different in a 1g compared to a 2g so you get a 2g tranny and use the 1g motor!
ya just hook up the boost leak checker and get it all checked out i would say if everything is all tight and no hole in couplers then i would lean towards blow off valve! expecially if its a greddy those always seem to leak around the flange where they bolt up!
and as far as the clutch issue...
ya id say hole in line or bad mbc! could also have a problem with the wastegate as well! but check the mbc lines and make sure there all in good condition and connected tightly!
ya sorry bad news definitly sounds like your a victim of crank walk :notgood: the harmonic balancer should move all over the place if it was just loose! sorry manand yes switch to a six bolt 1g motor! your gonna be way better off and you wont have to worry about this problem again and that...
ya i say if need be the clutch should be fine the condition doesnt look to bad but still gonna go out faster then a new one so youll have to pull the trans again somewhat soon but ya itll work for awhile
