There is a fix outlined in the tech guides (CLICK ME)If you think there might be components swapped within the car, first thing to do is check your coil pack and transistor. Assuming you have a stock intake manifold, these will be bolted to it on the timing belt side. The wiring for a 90...
Second gens go like so:RS, GS: Chrysler 420a engine
GS Spyder: 4g64 engine (non-turbo)
GS-T, GS-T Spyder, GS-X: 4g63 turbo.The 4g63 and 4g64 have similar layouts, the 420a is "backwards" compared to the 4g's.
Ok, I'm converting a 90 harness to work on 91+ equipment. I've read all the stickies/FAQs posted here, and I just need a quick sanity check.Using 91+ pigtails on a cut 90 harness.Coil:
1) Yellow/black
2) Yellow/green
3) Black/whiteTransistor

I'll join the chorus of "use a 14b." I used a 16g on my 100% stock set up and blew the ringlands off the pistons. Totally my fault, but the temptation is too great.
FWIW, I have the FP Race manifold with my HX40, which IIRC has a similar sized compressor housing, and I just had to dent the water pipe a bit; no issue with the block itself.
I'll second this. I had a cam seal fail, and it would leak oil clear down to the OFH as well, leaving stains wherever I parked. I got frustrated tracking it down and took the car to a garage; they found the leak with a smoke test.
It didn't seem to end well (here). I *DO* know Frank's Fiberglass made them in the early 2000's... there might be some floating around if you look hard enough.Maybe a chance for a learning opportunity and make some yourself?
There was a group buy done here a couple years ago; maybe search through the Vendor forum. I bought the hood from that group buy and am pleased with the quality."GT Something" is sticking in my head.
-Plan out what you're going to do and how
-Don't cut the piece too small
-Have a hair dryer or something for mild heat application
-Maintain beer on hand to quell frustration
-Wastegate solenoid valve
-Ignition timing adjustment connector
-Fuel pump check connector
-Dual pressure switch
-Brake fluid level sensor
-Engine speed adjustment connector
-Anything associated with the AC system and emissions systems is removed/getting removed as wellI might have...
Alright, I'm at the point where I am wiring up the car. Since the chassis is a 90, but the engine, ECU, and cluster are out of a 91, I decided to just pull the whole engine harness out and re-work it. I de-pinned the three plugs into the ECU as well as the one body interface harness. Now I...
It will work, but unless your board is cracked, I suggest just recovering your current one. It carries the added benefit of allowing you to add a touch of personalization.
What all changed during the build? Did you alter the fueling system or the engine management at all?Your profile says you have 1000cc injectors and Link; is the tune still saved?
Crankwalk is a bit of a bogeyman; like previously stated it is not as prevalent as the internet would have you believe. That being said, swapping a 6 bolt engine into a 2g chassis is a common swap; if you do a search with those terms you will have reading for hours.Good luck finding your car!
Leaning out to what, exactly? And it wouldn't hurt to double check the wiring f you did not install it yourself. No, not as good as a dyno tune where you have better control of the variables, but they work.parts yard, the classifieds here, or a vendor. DSM Graveyard sells pigtails.
Think of it this way. Your new injectors are 124% the size of the stock ones; the computer in the car thinks it still has injectors. So, for every one part of air, it is still telling the injectors to supply 1 part fuel.* This is sent via an electrical pulse to the injector which tells it to...
As long as there is no abrupt (sharp) transition in the adaptor, it wont impede flow. However, I would be concerned that lowering the turbo could create interference problems.Theoretically possible; but the collector will most likely not line up with the flange, creating a flow...
Even if someone does know what it is, it is being held by an agency of the US Government. AKA the largest bureaucracy in the world. And when processes move at the Speed of Government, it will probably be a pile of rust by the time anyone can buy it.
I know you can cram a Northstar V8 in the middle of them. And early ones liked to catch on fire. That said, the later ones with the visually heavier bodies are all kinds of 80s awesome, and that is 100% fine with me.
What is the S-AFC set at now? Your injectors (560cc) are ~24% larger, so start by pulling (going negative) 24%. That should get you a rough tune that you can then fine tune better.Do you have a real Wideband O2? Not just a blinky narrowband gauge?
I am also a fan of magnaflow mufflers. Another thing to consider is the cat itself. Obviously having a cat in the stream will quiet it down.Personally, I prefer having the converter in. The system I have is full 3in including the cat and has a nice tone all through the rev/throttle...
Happy the JDM fad died out? Yes, it got annoying listening to new people gushing over that red "JDM" eclipse all the time.As for what's next... I believe the DSM 'scene' to be pretty stagnant. The flavor-of-the-week-fanboys have moved onto newer platforms.
Seeing your work on the harness is inspiring. I am attempting to do the same thing at the moment. If you have any idea how much loom you used, would you mind posting it for future reference?
Are you talking about the indicator/parking lights in the center, or the empty space in front of the head light?I have not seen anything done to those before. If you have something in mind, why not just buy some lights and go to town? Those pieces are cheap to replace if you mess one up.
If this is in reference to the oil drain problem, my calibrated eyeball tells me I'd have to remove more of the mount than I would be comfortable with to get the fitting to clear.
I'm taking my spare 90 harness and making it work with my 91 engine. I'm not going for the fully tucked look, just cleaning it up by shortening/simplifying the routing. So any tips you have would be appreciated, things to look out for, etc. Also, I'm using the same type of loom. Not...
I'm going to piggyback this thread because my question is very similar. On the OFH, is there a right or wrong port to use? I have an adaptor that I picked up somewhere for the larger plugs, but they absolutely refuse to come out.One alternative I thought of was the stock oil pressure...
Two suggestions:1.) wipe off any crud on the head from the valve cover down the the exhaust manifold. Run the car. If there's more oil, you're getting oil seeping through the gasket.2.) As stated, take off the manifold heat shield and look for cracks. Extremely commonplace. I had one...
On my first DSM, I had a chambered GReddy that sounded awesome. Loved it.I then bought a new turbo-back that was a straight-through, still sounded nice, but was definitely louder. Didn't get too much experience with the drone on that, as I tore that car apart shortly after buying the...
