Justin, huge fan for what you do for the community.I need a little help i am not new to turbos at all and this one stumps me a little. I bought it so it is mine i just need a little confirmation of what it is.I believe it to be aTo4e 57 trim Garrett (pretty certain)
the turbine is...
.006 weisco HD custom slugs.
E-85 Fuel
made 720HP @ 27 PSI
2.4 6-bolt stroker
8200 rpmrings gaped to card specs per card (dont forget to add your PTW clearance in the calculationmotor is apart now (rod failure) bores look almost perfect. very little side loading piston skirts still...
that would be the highest i have seen. and would be straight nastythanks for the kind words.Agreed if there was a 20 ish psi graph of Sheps car it would be insane i am sure. The power does not fall off that i have seen. the torque does. there is less than a 15 HP difference from...
I know but i was curious. I just see so many high boost high horsepower stuff it just made me think. and lets be honest anything making high power, what is under the curve really???
I know what you are saying about compression ratio and actual compression numbers. cars bleed off compression from cams, valve's sealing and rings. that is why you cannot say 8.5:1 compresion equals "X" amount of PSI on a gauge. All i can say is on the engineering side when ordered from weisco...
Maybe not sure that is why i asked. I figured there might be some body who put a GT45R on something @ 10 PSI and made 700 hp or something. I guess we will see. That is what i am trying to find out. Most people dyno there car at the lowest boost it will run to build a base map. I am just...
Not exactly sure what you are asking?? but i am going to assume, so let me answer based on that.1. the bore size on a 4g64 is 86.5 mm and the bore size on a 4g63 is 85mm. so you cannot use standard 4g63 pistons in the block.2. the piston heights on the 4g63 pistons and the 4g64 pistons...
I know it is a trivial thing to even wonder but, i am curious. So i figured i would ask. I know turbo size has a lot to do with it as well as displacement and such. The questions still is.1. What is the most horsepower on 4g6x engine at the lowest boost?I of course ask this out of...
i pulled a motor out of a 92 expo van which is a 4g64 6 bolt motorquick update. it looks like the standard arp head studs cannot survive in this power range.. i have a new head gasket and map h11 extreme duty studs to replace it with. also the motor has about 100 miles on it and has finished...
I do not know about 300 PSI at 16:1 my 2.4 is running high compression it has a compression test of 245 PSI. it is only 13:1 max. as for spool it is hard to say i have a gt4088r but due to the compression i currently only have it at 17 PSI making 630 hp. all that said i hit full boost at about...
thank you killer colt, encouraging as always. Remember i still want to drive the car a little before we blow it up. :pas for more boost.. yes please
Did you have to use any spacers on those wheels with those tires? Or do they bolt on a 2g just like they would if they were some 225 50 16 tires? Also what suspension are you running? and are your fenders rolled?
1. When i connected the jumper wire from the ecu on the CAS signal wire (blue w/ white stripe) to the white wire on the ignitor the ecu would turn on and off while i tried to start the car.2. The tach now works all that needed to be done is the white wire cut and now my tach sees proper...
First, thank you for actually trying to help. I was starting to wonder if any one could.1. I do have the correct aem ems it is a series 1 box for 95-992. The wiring for the speed sensor seems fine i have traced it back and have not found any issues.(remember with the factory ecu speedo...
yeah, there has been a lot of back and fourth about high compression on these boards. I really wanted this build to show what you can do if you optimize efficiency of the fuel in this case e-85. I have definitely caught my fair share of flack from people telling me there is nothing to gain and...
These issues have completely stumped me now, and i have searched for these. I cannot not find the answers anywhere. thank you in advance for the help.1. The factory speedometer on the dash does not work with the aem2. The tachometer does not work properly (reads all over the place)...
Thanks to every one with the nice replies. i know that i have not been on line in a while, i have been busy with holidays and work. I am starting to work on the small list of problems i want to sort out before retuning. I am going to start a new thread on it because i am stumped. i will link to...
Wiseco does carry 87 mm pistons in stock specifically for a 2.4 with a 4g63 head. however if you are not staying 2.4 you will probably have to custom order your pistons because. if you are going destroked you need 4g63 stroker pistons because the pin is moved up for the increase in rod length...
your just hating,Ngoc has a 50 trim on low compressionsteve has a 6262 stock housing on low compresionyou have a 35r and....... yeah okay you can talk. a little bit captain boost spike :sneaky:
the compressor map i was looking at on the Garrett website looks like about 70lb min. That being said there are a few people who have made more than 700 hp. I know Tim Zimmer being one of them. As for the boost i will probably not take it past 30 psi. that is a guess though at this point because...
I am running the vr speed factory short route. I think it will sustain the power but we will have to cut the cold side endtank and expand it. And then reroute the piping around the core support like a non short route. This is just a thought though there still is no proof that the end tanks are...
me to but i don't know if it will get there with the current compression. We will see though. It was making 583 @ almost 18psi and went to 630 @ about 20psi. (trying to remember with out checking the logs) so we are picking up about 23-25 hp per pound of boost right now. that would make it a...
Thank you for the nice comments, I hope to really turn this thing up in the not very distant future. my only concern is that something might be impeding airflow... maybe my intercooler end tanks. further testing will see though.
I think you meant to say "you can at least get a view of my face :tease:" I just did not want to scare anyone that's all.All kidding aside thank you for all the work on the tune.
Bogus svo, thank you for all the help on this one. i checked it all out and it was fine i dont know were those thrust bearings went but they were not meant for my motor. just finished a real rough tune only about 10 pulls. made 630 @ 20 psi.:hellyeah:
For any one doubting the compression here is the block assembled with pistons. :Dsorry i do not have a graph with boost. the dyno is not set up with one. i do have the log files on the aem. If you want just PM me and i can send them. I am trying to upload a video that shows the boost gauge...
here is a picture of the last pull. This is only about the 10th pull on this new motor. so we have not had a chance to play with timing really at all. it was about 12.5 degrees of timing up top.I am trying to upload a few pictures as i speak :thumb: .as for the compression there is...
I finally after a long week of putting it back together i have hit the dyno and made some pulls. There were defiantly some set backs but it seems to be running good now.the final was 631.80 hp uncorrected and 495.01 tq @ 20.5 psithe build is a 2.4 6 boltstock 4g64 crank
Delta...
I checked the Vin on the block and it has a "N" for the 10th digit which means it is a 1992 block. not to mention that i have a 6 bolt front case and timing assembly on it which would not work on a 7 bolt motor. I still doubled checked when you mentioned it though because this is very weird. So...
okay,I searched through the links, and referenced the bearings. By the way i agree horrible website. It appears that according to the site i have a set of bearings that are appropriate to the engine i have. The only applicable bearing set that includes thrust washers is for 98-99 motors. This...
Thank you so much for the reply.the box the main bearings came in is in front of me and says "MB5227AM".
What confuses me is that i apparently have the only six bolt i have ever seen that came with a 3 piece thrust???I am sorry but for some reason in my mind i cannot think of what a...
Okay, this is odd and i cant believe i just caught it. i need someone to confirm this for certain. I am about to put this motor back in the car. I got a 92 6 bolt 4g64 out of a expo. when i disassembled this motor it had a 3 piece thrust bearing. At the time i thought nothing about it. Now i...
with out a few upgrades there is no way to run open bov without issues. but if you want to upgrade there are good bov's out there that you can still recirculate. ex: gredy type rs
if you have a 6 bolt then you should not have "crank walk" how old is the motor in there, if it was freshly rebuilt the thrust washers may not be installed correctly. sadly i have seen this happen and similar results to what your describing. the grooved side of the thrust should be facing...
if your trying to be sneaky i would imagine your not going to the track much? if thats the case....1. you dont need a purge most nitrous is activated by a full throttle switch unless your going real Brian Spilner and using a button (bad idea also). so just make sure to floor it for a little...
each time you smelled the oil you down shifted first. try turning with out the down shift. and was it the same direction each time you turned? my thoughts are....1. you might have a slight oil leak under pressure, higher RPM (from down shift) creates more oil pressure and it is...
