  1. 2G Can I ever get rid of this cel without link?

Sorry sir you are incorrect. The ECU knows the EGR isn't flowing when the "PCM did not detect enough change in the MAP signal after the EGR solenoid was commanded "on" and "off". " straight from the Mitsu OEM service manual. A solenoid is an electronically controlled valve. Whether that is on or...
  2. 2G Can I ever get rid of this cel without link?

I don't know if anyone realized but a p0400 is an EGR insufficient flow....Which if you put a block of plate is why you are getting that code. So....you need link or a black box ecu.
  3. HOLY WHERE IS THIS OIL COMING FROM, HELP

I wouldn't sweat it at all. Milky stuff in the exhaust side is moisture and if you drove it a short period of time and parked it in the cold it will do that. The oil is most likely from the valve seals as those continue to leak after the engine is off. For you to get oil and or coolant in the...
  4. Blow by on a built motor

With a thrust bearing failure was it a lack of oil? Was the shaft over heated? If you had excessive blow by your main concern would be oil failing to return to the pan and causing poor oil flow to the turbo. If it was a question of fuel contamination in the motor you would have wear on all...
  5. Mechanic caused damage during test drive

Test driving a vehicle after any REPAIR is pretty much standard in any professional automotive service facility. Alignments especially, doing alignments I always test drove a vehicle before and after an alignment to ensure the problem we are addressing is an alignment issue and not the other...

  7. possible to splice oxygen sensor wires, harness to sensor

It is recommended when installing these "Universal" o2 sensors that you crimp them with an appropriate connector that also has a heat shrink on it. In theory the solder joint would corrode faster than just plain wires crimped together. If I had to install a universal one I would solder and heat...
  8. exhaust manifold studs broke

Where are the two larger stud holes located?
  9. exhaust manifold studs broke

It was a generalization I made. Might not be accurate since I just checked two motors I have in the garage and one is definitely a 6 bolt and has nine 8mm studs. The other motor I just pulled out has seven 8mm studs and two larger ones. It also is a 6 bolt motor from what I know but I have yet...

  11. im running rich and i cant find out why!

It's not a hard concept to understand. The wideband is reading the a/f ratio. The ECU has already compensated for the lean condition by going into fuel enrichment. You can see that from the long term fuel trims being at 12% and short term being an additional 17%.
  12. im running rich and i cant find out why!

He found a leak from his lower nipple on his greddy BOV. Basing readings off any o2 sensor or wideband at this point would be inaccurate when his fuel trims are clearly showing a lean condition and it is confirmed that he has a vacuum leak into the system.Ideally he would need to fix the...
  13. im running rich and i cant find out why!

Yep, bank 1 sensor 1 definitely indicates a very lean condition and was very hard for you to richen it back up. But you did find your problem which was the BOV leaking air into the system. As for the wideband, it doesn't do you much when it is its own standalone unit. For fine tuning it is OK...
  14. im running rich and i cant find out why!

You cannot base your readings off the wideband for a trouble code. The wideband just tells YOU what the air fuel ratio is. The car has its own sensors telling it other wise and has the ecu compensate for it. The wideband is reading your air fuel ratio after its already been corrected by the ecu...
  15. im running rich and i cant find out why!

Ok, I have never used the Innovate logging system before but from what I can see the data is indicating a lean condition. I will include a few steps to show confirm the information provided by your data logger before we can continue to figure the problem out.If you can isolate it so you can...
  16. im running rich and i cant find out why!

I think there is a lot of confusion here. Is your car throwing a trouble code for a rich bank? If you are basing this off your wideband then you are chasing fairies. What were your A/F like before your timing belt?
  17. Fuse block switched 12volt feed

Best way to do it would be to run a fused wire straight off battery positive and use the relay to ground it out each group of accesories if I understand what your trying to do.
  18. Alignment is terrible, need help fixing it!

I think u guys are reading it incorrectly. The caster is at 3.7 and 4 which is still in spec and close enough. The camber is the one at 1 degree. It is perfectly fine what the shop did. Your car does not provide camber adjustments and they adjusted the toe so you do not further damage your tires.
  19. Master cylinder install gone wrong?!

Was the master cylinder properly bench bled?
  20. Can't pass a NY inspection

That won't work in Jersey or New York and most states that are strict on inspections. Clearing the codes resets everything and that includes the monitors. Some vehicles can have the monitors forced to run through some scanners and only on some vehicles. I never bothered to check on the dsm but I...
  21. Lowering a dsm AND having a soft ride, how?

Hahaha, yes it was a typo. I suppose you can put down logic and theory down into words better than I can.:thumb:Simple explanation for this is different springs have different ride heights. By giving a shock less travel you may be bottoming out the shock and at a different valve rate than...
  22. Lowering a dsm AND having a soft ride, how?

Simply put shocks and struts are what absorb energy and prevent the majority of it going into the chassis and being felt by the driver. This is what my understanding of a harsh ride is. Shocks or struts are what control lateral movement of a suspension system where springs are just used to carry...
  23. CEL at high rpm

PiedEyePiper is correct, only on OBD2 vehicles was it mandatory for a CEL to flash during a Cat damaging misfire. Anything before OBD2 good luck even detecting a misfire.
  24. No spark round 2

All those codes indicate the ECU is not getting the information from the sensors listed. All those sensors though are all on the same plug on the ECU. So start there since they are all tied together there and work your way out. It sounds like a wiring issue and not likely that all those sensors...
  25. Bad Idle? Did search (Video)

You need to fix the coolant temp sensor first before throwing more parts at the car. The coolant temp sensor effects ignition and fuel on the car. If the code is on the ecu is already in limp mode and is substituting a preset value. A p1294 is a manufacture specific code and that indicates that...
  26. I'll never trust an alignment shop again.

It isn't so much to alter or shift the chassis but more to do with thrust angle. When the Hunter represenative was explaining it, I took it as cars with no rear toe adjustments or with eccentric adjustments that can easily max out would "dog track" and cause uneven tire wear. The idea was that...
  27. I'll never trust an alignment shop again.

It is indeed true. The old Jim Beam alignment racks I've used never compensated front toe based on the rear. On the new hunter alignment racks they do base the front toe off the rear unless you go into the option of realtime data. At that point you can see the front toe is actually in spec. Once...
  28. Evo Brakes Squeal

Those hawk hps pads are known to be a noisy pad on the Evo brake system. Only suggestion I can make is to try and chamfer the pad edges. Another thing is what kind of anti-seize are you using. Personally I do not like anti-seize but it is the preferred method people use. Try finding some high...
  29. Do I need new front tires?

That is a big fat NO in the tire industry. If tires are poorly maintained for example not rotating the tires or uneven tire wear, you should always have the tires with the most tread in the rear to prevent fish tailing.Regarding the DOT you have to look on the other side of the tire or look...
  30. Need Help With My DSM Please!

1g ecus have 3 plugs going into the ecu while 2gs have 4. Besides that your 2g is OBDII and depending on your state inspection regulations you would not be able to pass if they wanted to scan your car.
  31. What is wrong with this tire?

Shifted a belt pretty badly on that one.
  32. Buying a GSX, alot of build up on undercarriage, need opinions...

If a coolant hose popped off there is a reason for that. To get that kind of pressure to pop a hose off has to have an explanation and when purchasing a vehicle you should always accept it as the worst case scenario. In this case say it has a bad head gasket and negotiate from there. 4300 for a...
  33. Machine block and head again?

There is no definite way of telling you what needs to be done based on mileage. What you need to do is have the RA requirements for the headgasket on hand and to have your block and head checked. That will most accurately tell you if you need to have it resurfaced or not.
  34. Car Overheated / Overheating / Overheats [MERGED]

Did you bleed the cooling system?Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
  35. Car Overheated / Overheating / Overheats [MERGED]

There seems to be some confusion. It might not necessarily be the head gasket like everyone saying it is. Most likely your headgasket is blown by now if you over heated it that badly. But you do not need a puddle to form under the car for the coolant to be lost. Some things you should do before...
  36. Looking for the Ultimate wrench: ratcheting, pivoting, X design...

To answer your question the spline drives work on torx as well as 12 point and 6 bolt nuts among other things. The reason why one side is flex and one isn't is in certain situations when you just need to apply a lot of torque you use the non flex side. Usually when using a flex to apply bolt...
  37. Looking for the Ultimate wrench: ratcheting, pivoting, X design...

I have to agree. I had the x-beam Gearwrenches at one point and for some reason they all broke at the middle or right where they begin to change into the opposite side.Personally I have a pretty decent wrench collection at this time and my spline drives are what feel most comfortable...
  38. how to flush AT transmission?

Nope, do it the correct way and drain it then fill it, run it again shifting through gears, drain it then fill it. Usually takes about 3-4 times to get it clean but its extremley dangerous doing it while the engine is running. Over filling an automatic trans is asking for trouble and under...
  39. 2.1 stroker help

By boring it over that much you are sacrificing durability for a slight if any notable increase in displacement. Keep in mind the bigger the piston, the heavier it is which will play its role in how long your bearings handle the abuse. It just doesn't make sense to do such a thing. To answer...
  40. 2.1 stroker help

No, the 4g64 like you stated earlier has a taller deck height that does increase displacement much more than boring would do. That is the reason for the 100mm crank for a longer stroke. By using a shorter crank in a 4g64 you are destroking it and decreasing displacement but increasing rod ratio...
  41. OEM Axle Equivalent

To be honest with you most axles are re-manufactured and that is almost as good as OEM quality. What that means is that most axles that you purchase are just OEM axles with either bad boots or bearings that got new boots or bearings and are put back on the shelves. Granted there are some minor...
  42. Speed bleeder VS. Solo-bleed

Home of the Mechanic's Tool ClubTry that one out. It is the one I purchased for use at work and is pretty solid. The only thing that it might not work with is if you have ABS. I noticed no matter how many times you pump and bleed or vacuum bleed brakes, the pedal will remain soft for a...
  43. Speed bleeder VS. Solo-bleed

Not to thread jack but what tools and methods are you guys using to bleed your brakes and clutches? I purchased a Mityvac vacuum pump and they seem to work fairly well. We also have a machine that you hook up to the 4 bleeder valves and it sucks them all out at the same time and adds fluid...
  44. Gas shooting out exhaust

You should have all the plugs in the motor and running the car till operating temperature is reached. Then pull one plug out individually and test each individual cylinder. Before testing the fuel pump fuse should be pulled or unplug the fuel pump and then crank the engine over to let excess...
  45. Radiator fan wiring w/o original harness

You just gotta hook the wire up to the relay and there should be one wire that grounds. You can't just run a fuse from the battery straight to the fan, the fan will easily pull more than 30 amps and just blow the fuse.
  46. Radiator fan wiring w/o original harness

My only suggestion is to run the wires like factory. Ideally that is what needs to be done and if running it like stock blows fuses, you should find out why. By running the fans all the time, you would be putting a big band-aid over the issue.
  47. Radiator fan wiring w/o original harness

I am unable to tell you which color is which polarity but that is something that should be easy to find out. First you need to trace where the wires are going. You should always have the fans hooked up to the relay because you do not always want the fans on. By doing so it would bring your...
  48. evo 9 exhaust cam in my 1g??

Evolution 9's came with Mivec which is not compatible with our standard non-variable valve timing motors.
  49. Is this Schwitzer worth it?

Definately a Borg Warner but looks to be one of there older style turbos. Those are the older style wheels so my best guess would be it is not nearly as efficient as the new extended tips with the width enhancement. Better off picking up a cheap s256 and running that instead.
