I have a 1992 GVR4 with the Evo8 Suspension set up and I'm running into problems with my camber...the tires are wearing on the outside on both front tires. I have considered re-drilling (boring) out my OE GVR4 knuckles to better accept the Ingalls camber bolts made for the Evo (boring the OE...
I haven't done this myself but before I try and remove everything from a donor car, can a 14b heat shield off the front facing portion of the turbo fit well enough to use the same bolt holes on an e316g?
makes no sense to inject there...Most water injection kits suggest installers to install the jets near or at the throttle body for optimal performance/efficiency. I would imagine if installed that far back before the BOV that you would get unwanted debris/detritus gumming up prior to the air...
go to the GalantVR4.org forum for this project and use the SEARCH function....you will find EVERYTHING needed to complete this project successfully....Good luck and ask for help if you cannot find things with search....BANZAI!!!!
I'm creeping towards the dirty 30 and always have worked out since HS, college, as well as after graduating...I am 6'3" and weighed at my most 243 and I thought I was ripped to sh!t. As of this last year tho, I slowed on my love of beer and 100% stopped going to the gym. I do push-ups at home...
They are better than most people think...they dominate the handling department at most tho...but that much power in a FWD vehicle seems like a more of a mental strain than fun...race him...er..line 'em up and see who's better...
You sir have a nice case of boost creep...I too am experiencing the SAME problems....I have gone thru 4 MBCs thinking it was them...but then later I read that if you have bigger then 2.5" exhaust while using a e316 (what I am using with 3" exhaust from turbo back) that the larger exhaust will...
How thick would they be...You state they would save weight?! haha, the 3 pounds of Aluminum used for the OE VC doesn't seem amazing for weight savings...however CF does have better thermal properties than Al so I'd assume it great for that...not flaming...just trying to understand how it would...
alaskamotorsports.com is a great place to find out all the things you're all asking...plus, they tune some pretty hot machines...Used to live in Wasilla...and always gawked over the rides AKMoSports had...check 'em out for sure if you haven't...
I had a similar inquiry; I have it coming off my OFH and its working great right now...I too have the FP e316g and I was getting smoke out the back when I got into boost...so if that happens stop driving your car until you get an oil restrictor...I picked one up for cheap and it dropped my oil...
No need to clip the 16g...they'll allow you everything you're looking for especially for DD'n....if you need more than the e316g isn't for you...I just got my e316g from FP on their super sale and received it in a very timely matter...only took 4 days shipped to my door step. I am installing it...
or go to a L@A IC setup for nearly ZERO pressure drop and instant spool...i saw full boost on the 14b at 2300 with a HUGE A2A IC and that felt ideal for autocross....
Just do suspension stuff on it and minor engine stuff like air filter and quiet exhaust...you gotta allow it breathe and in turn will offer you a better range of MPG and reliability....Nice ride...Been a fan for some time and still pine over them...
Interesting, never thought the AMG tuned Galants had such different cams...granted it was NA...I am going to degree my OE cams and see what numbers I get and if I stumble across some NA 260/264 cams I'm gonna try them...I'm fairly certain the spool up time would drop dramatically or at least be...
Has anyone ever tried swapping the OE exhaust cam with a 264? I know the most oomph you get when swapping cams is with the 264s; for for more "up top" the 272s but I'm curious how OE/264 would perform...just pure curiosity is all
My eBay IC is rocking...flows very nicely and is huge and only took a little work to cut the bumper enough...granted its a GVR4...I'd go for it...for just over $100 you can't go wrong!
^^^ agreed...if its only int he corners you're needing "help" or advice....a LSD would allow you to use the power better in the corners...BUT damn those 14bs sure like to go down low...but you lose a lot up top...When I do this again I'm sticking with e316g
You'd need to do some minor IC pipe modification...I bought one similar to this and its been nothing but AWESOME for me...it has kept my IATs down lower too allowing for higher boost. I would get it, cut your bumper support a little and stitch weld it back for strength and let the fun times...
I agree...I was frustrated and NEARLY contemplating giving up...but that would be retarded...I know I pushed the limits by buying a China turbo...trust me...that will NOT happen againa nd I will chew people out for assuming they'd be okay after my personal experience...and for the 14b...I never...
Uh yeah, the 14b was mated to the EVO3 housing and EM...it kicked ass paired up with the 14b....but it didn't last...I was holding 22 psi all day long up top but upon shifting to 5th it creeped to 26 and slowly dropped to 20....i think the used turbo has no more cob-webs to worry about...just a...
Well the oil supply issue on the 14b shouldn't have happened. We saw those boost numbers without too much knock because we have a huge IC (30x17x3) and it allowed our IATs (assuming) to be quite low. We have the -4 feed line and OE return line...we did however change from a turbo water pipe to...
I really liked what it had down low and where it kept your tires around corners...I was lucky enough to go about 50 miles on the 14bv swap prior to it exploding....and i liked it...try it out..might be the most fun you had around a corner in a long time
...and the turbo just blew up...dissolved into pieces in the housing...damn, what to do, start a different project and part this one out or continue this desolate one...its been sitting for 3 years and can never leave the parking lot due to either a Chinese turbo that blows up or a used 14b that...
^^^^ Agreed...I will NEVER purchase another eBay turbo or anything Chinese for that matter...worked when it was new but the grief it gave us was horrible...this new 14b setup should hold off the desire for "more" for the rest of the year :)
Had a Chinese eBay EVO3-16g that blew it's center section and so we went from that to a 14b with the EVO3 O2 housing and wow...no more smoke and it now spools full blast at 2300 RPM...didn't' expect the 1200RPM drop in spool time switching over...we were seeing about 26psi at WOT in 5th gear...
I had an eBay 16g and it was fun as hell until it blew...which only took a near 500 miles...now I'm back with the 14b. Use the eBay one until it goes, you'll be thirsty for more :)
