Whats up guys?I've been out the game for a very long time (8 years) and I've recently bought back my old 92 Galant VR4.I'm not sure why or if there is any benefit but the PO has a GM MAF and a Map sensor hooked up. I know usually you can switch to speed density and eliminate the MAF all...
That is the correct sensor. If it were me, I'd use my rear O2 input as your wideband input and leave your front O2 alone. It will make things easier when dialing it in.
There is a problem with the older cables. You can test it by grabbing a pair of vice grips or what ever and clamping down on the black box while trying to connect with the software.
ok we ran into a little snag.I wasn't aware of the tabs on the outside of the lenses that holds the corner lights on.I'm not sure how to get the lenses and tabs casted in one piece.Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Yes sir**Update**This past weekend we started looking at building the frame that holds the lexan. We finally agreed on a design and we should have it built by this weekend. Hopefully by this weekend we will be able to test everything out and show you guys some pictures of the final...
It's going to take some some trial and error to get the temperature dialed in, but I think that's going to be the biggest hurtle.I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in this after we perfect our method. Well at least we hope so anyway!
Your clutch master cylinder may be bad.Check for signs of leakage at your slave cylinder. Then check your master cylinder, most likely under the dash around the rod. (You may have to pull the rubber boot off)
A buddy and I are about to give this a try.We are going to be using Lexan Sheets, so it should be durable and shouldn't yellow like acrylic will when exposed to UV light. We got our mold done, just have to do some touch up's in a few spots. Next step it to build our rig to hold the Lexan.I...
The stock fuel map is super rich. If you look at the fuel trims, you can see that the ecu adds fuel threw out the rpm range, making it really rich in the upper RPM range.
I did the write up on how to dye your carpet.I never washed the carpet after pulling it out of the dye. I knew it would fade the color more than I wanted. After letting it dry completely and putting in in the car, I haven't had any issues with the color coming off on my hands or anything...
Check the pulley's and make sure the bearings aren't bad. If they don't spin smooth, then replace them.Check the tensioner pulley arm. Does the spot where the tensioner push on the arm look worn? If so replace it.The jay racing timing tools are good to have!
I would recommend getting your...
Yes they are exactly the same.FYI: The fuel sending units are different though. The DSM sending unit is longer than the GVR4. You can modify the DSM sending unit to work, but I'm not sure if the fuel gauge will be correct. Check out Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Forum - E39A 4G63, there is a write...
You can make your 7 bolt motor just as powerful as a 6 bolt motor. The only "problem" with the 7 bolt is crank walk, and that is caused by excessive thrust bearing play (1000 AAQ - Terms).
VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions is your best friend, aside from tuners. To save yourself some, buy the timing tool kit from Jay Racing, its only $50.00.
If you mess up on the timing, that tensioner compression tool will save you a lot of headache.Make sure you have really...
I plan on building a new engine wiring harness for my Galant in the near future....IF I can find all the connectors which I think I've tracked down the majority. What do you guys think the demand is for something like this? I'm thinking that if I'm successful AND I dont go crazy, I could...
I've got a 98 GSX that is having some wierd overheating issues. The car will overheat on the interstate, but not in traffic? This video was taken at operating tempature!!

I'm buying a 90 Talon from a friend of mine with a rebuilt motor with about 3k on it, and I want to get an opinion before I tear it apart to fix it.The cars compression is 90 across the board. He thinks its the head gasket because the car ran hot on him a few times before he stopped driving...
Great build, and a very fun car indeed. I've had 3 of them.I can give you some pointers on the 5 speed conversion, I did it to my last starquest:Its easier to install the clutch pedal assembly if you remove the dash, and only takes about 15-20 mins.
You WILL NEED all the pedals from a 5...
Have you looked at :: Project Zero G ::I'm not 100% certain, but a friend of mine that works at a machine shop told me the 4g63 head will bolt directly on the 4g64, but you have to have a machine shop block a few oil passages. That might be something you want to check on.
Its there so you ask what it is. LOL, J/K.It does exacly what it says. Its a electrical noise condenser, which eliminates electrical "noises" that could interfer with your tack and radio.
This web page explains how to use plastigage
Genuine Plastigauge - How It WorksThe BSE kit is simple. Order the kit I posted above either with or without the bearings. When you bring the block to the machine shop tell them your doing a balance shaft elimination, and they will most likely...
AWS can be benefical, IF its in perfect working order.Alot of people eliminate them because several reasons. Mine scared the shit outta me in sharp curves at moderate speeds. It was jittery!I think it steers like a boat with AWS LOL.
While the block is at the machine shop, tell them you want the oil ports blocked with the bearings on the back balance shaft.Next you will need to buy this stubby shaft:
Balance Shaft Elimination Kit (DSM/Evo) - Modern Automotive Performance
(bearings not included)Crankwalk is...
If you replace your whole rear subframe and rearend, you can eliminate the AWS. Its what I did.But there is no advantage when using the DSM subframe. On your grinding issue. Try this:
Go into 2nd gear first, then reverse.I dont think theres a differenbe between GVR4 and DSM trannys...
There are absolutely no power gains.+1 on it eventually getting annoying. Might wanna keep that in mind if your town/city has strict noise pollution laws.
Honestly 7 bolts can be just as powerful as a 6 bolt.If the bottom end is knocking it is 1 of 2 possible problems.
1. Rod Knock
2. Rear balance shaft (the bearing fails and the shaft slaps the block, and makes a knocking noise!!)So to keep from that balance shaft bearing failing, you...
If the crank has to be cut more than .01, then you should get another. Anything past .01 removes the treated metal...and its not as strong.Bring the block to a machine shop and have them do the following:
Boil the block
Check the deck
Check line bore
Check the head for warpage
Re-Hone...
I've actually seen this before:The balance shaft is 180* out, and the car had a horrible vibration. And it was done at a shop.
I dont see how it could be, because the BS basically times it self. All you gota do it spin the pully, and let it go. The weight of the balance shaft will spin the...
