I made this video. I hardly build these anymore, unless its for a business. The problem is that too many dsms have issues that cause turbos to keep going bad. I started off building turbos for these cars, but later left the scene because 50 percent of the time the turbo will have an issue based...
There is a dowel pin on the crank for the automatic which the manual transmission cars don't have. The way to remove that is to pack the hole with grease and hammer a wood block in it. I read that on this forum and tried it. It worked well.
There is not enough room for it to fit not to mention all of the other work you have to do to make the drive terrain work even if you were able to crank it in.
Based on your horsepower target, you should probably go with a gt35r. You could upgrade the turbine housing on you gt3076r and get closer to what garrett rates them at which is 580 hp. There the turbine housing options are .63, .82, and 1.06 in t3 form. The 1.06 is huge, I built a turbo for a...
We had someone make 414 hp(e85) on the 20g with tdo5h turbine and 449 (pump gas 28psi) on the tdo6sl2 20g with 7 blade billet wheel.
i had someone make 364 hp at 24 psi on pump. it seems like they get get close to the 400 hp mark with the tdo5h shaft being the limiting factor.
Your vacuum line is too large that your using on the WG. That one is subject to leak. I would also do a boost leak test.If that didnt show anything then i would say its the combination of your exhaust housing being too small and your wg being too small to handle the back pressure. You could...
The inside diameter is what is important. It doesnt matter what the hose looks like on the outside. If you drainline is not large and free flowing enough to drain the oil quick enough, then the oil will backup in the cartridge and be forced out the seals.
You should go with the tdo6h turbine if you go with a 58mm compressor wheel or bigger. I also dont like their bullet nuts because they are fatter than the hub of most billet wheels.Building a "badass" turbo doesnt tell us what you are trying to achieve. What kind of horsepower are you trying...
CLR still exists. I like to use gasoline to clean the oil off. To get the rust off clr works well, but it seems to leave residue. Purple power works well. Dont media blast it, soda blast it unless you have to. 1 grain of media your turbo is done. if the grain of media makes it to the engine...
This is why I absolutely HATE buying from this company. They send me the wrong parts 75 % of the time. I paid return shipping everytime. One time they never shipped after I ordered, 2 weeks go by and they didnt say anything, so i contacted them. Then they shipped, 2 more weeks go by and i get...
The majority of my business comes from social media. Youtube and Facebook are the most popular. Facebook Business pages are very useful, we get messages on there all day long. There is so much interaction, its hard to get away from though, it begins to be controlling of my life which is what I...
1 grain sand media can lock up your engine, that would be my biggest concern. If It were me, i would fix the issues myself by reseating the valve, removing all the plugs, take the whole head apart and flushing everything then reassemble. I am a more do it yourself kind of guy though and my next...
The hahn t3 housings have a really bad problem with the valve getting more slack. When the slack becomes too great it causes the valve to stick open sometimes when closing. This would cause your car to have a hard time building boost. Spool up time would be horrible also.
most importantly flush the all the oil galleries with a pressure washer. Remove all plugs in the head also and flush. This is so important if you have oil contamination issues. A former friend of mine wouldnt listen to me on this stage and "rebuilt" 3 times but didnt clean the engine well...
I have never seen anything like that before. Must have ran it without oil. I know some people may not agree with this, but i would wire brush it lightly. It looks like whats on there wont come off easy otherwise.
ive always went via email. From what i have heard they are more strict about selling wheels to people looking to buy in bulk rather than samples. I buy about 50 at a time. I have so many wheels now, and ordered so many of the wrong ones all the time. Their catalog is confusing as all heck...
When I asked BEP in the past they told me Approx .040" bigger than the compressor wheel or .020" on each side. The turbine housings i prefer to machine a little larger, because expansion, carbon, and rust play a factor in clearance. The compressor wheel you want to to be as close as you can...
You need a wrech that looks like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sxt-980906?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKEAjwuYOeBRCy3pLljpjDkDcSJAAhA4mtuSz0S9VvRLjoEF6FQfSD8eFhXdO4FFlwbGXAEEca4hoCO8Lw_wcBBut 7/16 in size.
We sent him pictures of parts from his turbo, just because he claims that the pictures where not of his parts does not make the statement true. We also ended up replacing the turbo for free even though, the custumer drove from Ohio to Texas knowing that the turbo had a thrust bearing failure...
KTS sells them. I bought 1 but then i sold it. It didnt look like it was really a performance wheel. It was more like just a replacement in billet. Yea it looks pretty but it didnt look light weight or anything. They will make to your demands though. I could put one in and order if you want one...
I would guess balance shaft bearing. If it was a rod bearing you could rev it to 2k rpm and it should knock more noticeably. Yours just sounds weird. if you think it did spin a bearing dont run it too long because you starving the rest of the engine of oil due to the excessive clearance.
There are different types of BB turbos. 1 type has ceramic cages and the other has steel cages. The ceramic cages are lighter and the turbo will spin much faster. Also if you hold the turbo upright it makes a difference. There is another BB type that has balls that looks different, they are...
I have a drawer full of them that i dont need or want. You can have one if you pay the 5.50$ shipping cost. You may have to rebuild the turbo again also, I have seen many times where people install a used compressor wheel when rebuilding the turbo. Their thought were usually "I dont want the...
The 25g compressor wheel is 60.5mm x 78mm and the turbine that you should use is the tdo6h4 58.8mm x 67.2mm. The gt35r compressor is 61.4mm x 82mm, if that gives you an idea how big that turbo is.The 20g is 52.6mm x 68mm on the compressor wheel and can be paired with a tdo5h 49mm x 55mm...
You think thats expensive. Check out the cost to build one of these!! 109,000$ for the most expensive upgrade Underground Racing - Twin Turbo Audi R8 V10
I also once talked to a guy over the phone that works on BMW, porsche, and Ferrari in Georgia. I wondered to myself, what would it take to...
78 lb per min is what dsmlink recorded, it was around 40 psi. ill have to ask the guy. The rods warped shortly after unfortunately, it was on a 6 bolt block.
You probably haven't seen the potential out of this turbo yet, but just for the record, I built an hy35 to an hx40 pro(billet wheel 60mm x 86mm) (64mm x 76mm turbine), and we got 78 lb per min. The hy35 has a 9cm^2 turbine housing which is close to a .63 a/r garrett housing in size. There are...
Just to clarify this was never a balancing issue. The vband on the turbine housing wasn't tight, so the turbine wheel hit the turbine housing, bent the turbine and in doing so hit the compressor wheel to the housing. Be careful when you go to put the center section back one the turbine housing...
My best guess would be that your your getting enough oil pressure, or the rear bearing is locked up. I would take the whole turbo apart and double check everything. Also make sure the turbo isnt touching the exhaust housing. The exhaust housing can be coated with burnt oil or carbon which can...
No they are KTS wheels. They are the only billet wheels worth buying. All the other billet wheel companies care about is making a wheel that they can call "billet", because people will buy it. KTS started with making billet wheels but now offers extended tip versions, light weight blades, curved...
BAE is "okay", but don't be surprised if they don't ship you anything after your purchase, dont respond to your email, and you have to get a paypal refund. Also, plan on 2 weeks for shipping. I haven't bought from them in about a year now, i only buy from them if its a last resort, if i cant...
Do you feel like 25 psi is where it runs the happiest? Most of our guys are running 28 psi on the cast 6 blade and logging 47.5 lb per min peak. Increasing the psi can add quite a bit more power, my friend increased the boost 2 psi on his hx35 on his honda and gained 40 hp.
From my experience with turbos that i bought off ebay about 80 percent were undescribed, and i filed a lot of claims. Things to ask about are stripped threads in the center section and housings. One time i bought a small 16g that was "rebuilt" and the rear bearing was beat in with a hammer, so...
You should know, that your comparing a garret compressor wheel to a billet 20g wheel. That looks like an older FP green compressor wheel. The inducer measurements are pretty close. Im not sure about the exducer though. It will most likely make boost but the compressor housing isnt machined for...
