^ I don't why you would do all that. The couplers are good quality and I have never had a problem with mine. Only a couple of my clamps broke and I replaced then with Vibrant clamps. Works great.
Bro! I was wondering if you were updating about the car. Looks like this is where you have been doing it. I just went back through this whole thread and it blows my mind how many parts have been destroyed by the monster. Get that thing running in time for the world cup in November!;)
While I understand where you are trying to come from, your rationale is still flawed. Any engine making more than twice the horsepower it came with from the factory, is a race engine and should be treated as such. With most DSMers building their cars for 400+ horsepower, considerations should be...
I would try swapping o2 housings first. If you have a stock one, throw it on there and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't fix the problem or make it better then I would give Tim a call and let him know what's up.It shouldn't be rubbing like that.
A stage 2 TRE comes with a new fork, pivot ball, and is shimmed already. To the OP, you may want to try a couple more tricks with with adjusting the rod length. Also, have you checked your clutch pedal assembly? They can wear out over time on 1G's, not sure about the GVR4's, but thought I...
We sometimes go down to the Sonic meets on Patton on Saturday night. The next important event is the Import Showdown in Rynolds, GA in November. Lots of DSMers from the southeast show up for that.
There VRSF kit is in the same class as the CX/PR kit. Bottom line, for the horsepower level the OP is wanting to acheive a budget FMIC kit will be fine, especially the PR kit.
I have driven both 1g and 2g FWD DSMs with Fidanza flywheels and both were very managable on the street. You just have to adjust your driving style a bit. Also, dont forget to pick up one of these install kits from FP.Forced Performance Turbochargers: DSM Aluminum Flywheel Hardware Kit
We decided to combine it with the MTOD event this year. Sadly, that was this past weekend. There's always next year though. To keep up with news about this event and next year's plans see the MTOD website.Mitsubishis Take On the Dragon - MTOD
I would recommend going with the Cometic or a Topline set over the OEM set. Both are a better deal for the money and I have had success using both. I will warn that the Cometic kit has been known to be short a gasket or two. Look it over carefully when you get it.EXTREME PSI : Your #1...
Eibach Pro-kits will give you better ride quality and still have a nice drop. I highly recommend upgrading the shocks as well.S&M Auto has tons of 2g parts available and I saw a couple of 2gb Eclipse bumpers last time I was up there.Miller Import PartsAdjustable Eibach springs...
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the head sitting there on the table. Not really sure myself if it was an actual 4g63 head though. As for the movie itself, it was as good as I expected and the 3D was well done and really made the special effects pop.
I agree that it's a good idea to go ahead and replace it. Don't bother with eBay though; MAP sells them for only $42.Fidanza Replacement Steel Friction Inserts (DSM) - Modern Automotive Performance
That 20 minutes at idle is not going to hurt and those compression numbers look good and should improve a little over the next few hundred miles. That leaves the oil leak. Are there any leaks coming from the engine that are visible? It the car smoking on start up, idle, or while driving? How's...
I have a cut crank with over 40k on it. I'm running .10 mains and .20 on the rods. Disassembled the engine for inspection and all I did was have it polished and am putting it back in with new bearings. Also of note, ACL does offer oversize bearings but only Clevite offers .20 rod bearings...
Nothing wrong with Delphi injectors. I have been using them since 04' and never had any problems. I would recommend getting a set from AFI. They have great prices, great service, and are vendors here as well.
Congrats again Jeff. Can't wait to see you and the the ER crew again this year at te SO.MAD Mike, you need to come to the Shootout in August and bring Oh Shit!
Both the Tokico Illuminas' and the KYB AGX's will be a fine solution. The best choice however will be the Koni's. All of these are adjustable and can be adjusted while on the car very easily.
What kind of head gasket did you use? Did you use new headbolts/studs? Does it drive normal during acceleration and cruise? Any additional issues other than the CEL and hesitation on decel? Double check all your vaccum lines as well.

Its that time to start up the official thread for MTOD '11. The 2nd Annual Mitsubishi's Take On the Dragon Meet is fast approaching. Gameplan for the weekend will surround...
If you remove one of the internal springs and then adjust it using the screw it should work fine. I used it on my 2g for awhile just to see how well it worked.
Hmmm, did you check the surface with feeler gauges? As for the bolts, they can stretch when they are torqued down. Do you really want to risk having to do another headgasket right after you finish this one?
You don't have to deck the block to run an MLS headgasket. It is advisable to get the head decked; but I have ran heads that were within spec and not decked with no problems.
Are you having the head decked?A couple of examples:http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=17034&cat=555&page=1http://www.maperformance.com/map-high-performance-head-studs-7-bolt-dsm-evolution-6-mitsu11mmalloy.html
The Fel-Pro is kind of expensive for most builds. The Cometic or Mitsu MLS gaskets will work fine. I have personally seen the Mistu MLS used in DSMs making over 700whp with no problems. As for head studs, since you have to replace the factory head bolts anyway(they stretch), you might as...
I have done many DG modded 1g CBVs and all but one tested and held 30psi. I never tested any higher than 30psi though, but is seems like that's about the limit.
The PR core will be fine for your HX35. And considering how many people have said they have made over 500hp with the VRSF core, it would be a good choice as well.60-1, 25psi, pump gas.
I just don't see it. In the picture I see a comparison between the PR core and a "Garrett" core. We're talking about the PR and VRSF cores. The OP does not own a Garrett core. Therefore your visual proof is not applicable to the cores in question.
