Hey guys, here's the link to the CL posting 1997 Eclipse GSX AWD Turbo 4g63Shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions:
[email protected] for looking,
Manuel
Ask your friend who built it since that will help you sell it more quickly. I'll need one eventually in the future but I noticed your looking for $. I can trade a nice Gary Fisher Mountain Bike if you're interested in a trade. :thumb:
Anyone gotten hit with having to do a STAR station smog check? I've been able to get hooked up with Test Only and Regular Smog checks but this new one has me worried :notgood:
I'm running a FP manifold with no heat shields. I'm sure in a car that's not running a front mount intercooler the open front bumper allows for better cooling to the radiator and so fourth. I noticed a big change in underhood temps once I installed the front mount in my vehicle. It seriously...
Alright guys, I went to the junk yard last week and picked up a stock air intake box unit (only $20 and came with a K&N filter in it). My car (2gb gsx) already came with an aftermarket Stillen intake when I bought it. The reason I'm asking for a comparison is because my underhood temperature...
Anyone know if the 2ga will work on a 2gb with no modification? I know it's usually the other way around but I have a broken 2gb bumper that needs replacing. The fact that this is in good condition and already matching my car's paint might not be a bad idea. :thumb:
Check e-bay or your local junk yard. I grabbed one from the junk yard since my car already came with an aftermarket intake. I keep it handy for when I have to go smog my car.
You think rolling there around 4ish going on 5pm is too late? I had to work today - I'll go straight there after I get off work though. I can naw on the leftover t-bones since the food will all be gone by then ROFL JK.
It would be nice if that was the case. However, we are flooded with riced out honda's packing 88.7bhp with their CAI and fart can exhaust's ROFL. You need to have a hook up in smog if you are going to mod your car here in CA. As smog becomes more strict - that is becoming very difficult now a...
"DuraCrap! built to last!" ROFL. Mine went out a few hours after installing it. I drove to my uncles house an hour or so away and had it go out there. I had to tow the car home - luckily I had; and still have AAA :thumb:. After that I told myself I would never - ever buy another car part from...
Depending if the corosion isn't too bad to the point where the mechanism is seized up. I would put on some of the lock graphite spray they sell at OSH and auto parts stores. I usually have to spray this stuff during the wet season as the mechanism starts to become difficult to turn when I put my...
Throw that ebay turbo in the garbage and put the t-25 back on. You are jeopardizing your motor running with that crappy turbo as it is possible for it to go out and fling metal bits into your motor.
Normally now a days the HU's have a built in amp. Play around with the settings and see if there is one in your HU. You also want to adjust the LPF and HPF and you should see a change to your sound. :thumb:Hell's to the Yeah! :hellyeah: You are talking about running the HU rms which is...
This is a very interesting topic as I have seen people doing this at the track with good success. I've talked to the guys from ATP turbo when I see them at Sonoma Raceway during wednesday night drags. They have ran the mix on their evo with a good decrease on their time and under hood temp. One...
Get a second opinion period. I would not just take that mechanic's word for it as you may run into other issues if you only rebuild the head without trully knowing what's wrong.
That's a pretty bold and cocky statement on the license plate for a stock vehicle :D. Yeah, I too went from rwd to awd and haven't looked back. I upgraded my 85 Rx7 with a street ported 13b running a weber carb etc. and it's no comparison to my GSX in terms of safety and putting down the power...
Leave the spark plugs as they are actually one step colder than stocks and aren't too much of a difference (you did gap them correctly - right? Road Race Engineering has a table for spark plugs on their site). I would only change them if you were having starting issues and the plugs were fouling...
To answer your question - YES, you can use the same wires that are connected to your stock speakers. It will save you the hassle for fishing wires throughout the vehicle in regards to the speakers. I'm actually running infinity kappas to the front and rear. My buddy and I just cut the wires...
Do they have to be weathertech? I bought some oem ones from Jnz tuning and am really happy with them as they even have the "eclipse" logo on them. Only trade off is they don't have the original gray color but the gray charcoal they have looks much better IMO :thumb:
Yes, but only after he programs his ecmlink to read "Danger to Manifold" on his laptop and "fry's his piston rings" after squeezing too much NOS! ROFL JK.
Just take the motor back if they are telling you that they will inspect it and so fourth as part of the warranty. If they screw you over by not standing by their work. Then go ahead and identify the mystery shop here so we all know who not to take our motors to. It's not good to tarnish a shops...
Nah, you'll be fine. You can actually fit the 225-45 tires as long as the drop isn't super low. Just remember that you will actually be lower to the ground running 225-40 instead of 225-45 and the ride quality will be a little bit more harsh. I personally think the 225-45 would be the best combo...
+2 on this. I run 225/40/18 on my 18x7 +40 offset rims with no rubbing issues and I have a 1.7/1.4 drop with H&R springs+camber kit. I would not go wider being that the width of the rim is 7 inches. People with the evo 8 rims run 235/45/17 with good success in our cars.
They actually did the reverse psi recommendation - it's usually higher psi in front due to the weight of the motor. I know on the GSX it recommends 32 front/29 rear - it might be different on the GST due to weight and drivetrain (if someone can clarify). I run the same all around due to the fact...
I'm glad you brought up the psi as I recently researched the heck out of this. The recommended psi listed on the door jam is specifically for stock wheels and tires. However, for aftermarket wheels and tires you go off the max psi listed on the tire. My understanding is that 4-5psi from the max...
I've heard it's not a good idea to mix and match when it comes to the clutch and flywheel setup. I think the best thing to do is run the full ACT combo to avoid issues; Extreme psi has a good price on the combo package. I run the 2100 w/ the streetlite flywheel and have 0 issues.
I have that same issue, I was told by Wheel Works the noise is coming from the upper control arm. They believe it's the bushing there or the ball joint one. I plan to get a kit from Energy suspension to replace them. They're like $30 or so per side, I'm sure putting them on is gonna be pricey...
No one is stating that Greddy IC's aren't good. We are just stating that they are over priced for what they are. I had the Greddy hard piping kit on my stock intercooler and agree the piping is good quality. However, my ETS intercooler came with 2.5 diameter good quality piping as well and the...
Just save yourself the headache and trouble by going stock return line for now. Save the braided line for a future turbo upgrade in the future that requires it. :thumb:
I wonder what the rest of the car looks like? I'm sure it's full of air scoops, z3 fenders, aluminum wing etc...oh and I almost forgot - he for sure has a laptop that reads "DANGER TO MANIFOLD" when he hits NOS ROFL
I never saw the point in shaving our door handles let alone shave the gas door...
I have had the ETS race intercooler for more than 5 years with great success on my big 16g. I got a good deal from a member $500 shipped (brand new) and their was a mystery suprise in the packaging that ended up being a super afc :thumb: Turned out he got an Evo 8 and no longer owned a DSM so he...
Is the engagement the same as well? or does that clutch grab at a different point when letting the peddle go? If it does, you might have to adjust the clutch engagment and see if that helps.
Paul, welcome to the DSM community. The upgrade and maintenance path is usually a good first checkpoint IMO. Let us know when you have any q's or issues and we'll be sure to find or try to find the solution. :thumb:
I'm hoping you got an oem MC because the Duralast a.k.a. Duracrap parts usually end up causing headaches for people. I've changed my MC twice already with 155k on the odometer. I noticed it was bad on both occassions after seeing fluid leak into my carpet under the clutch pedal. It might just be...
If air got into the system - it will eventually travel through the bleeder nipple of one of the calipers when draining it. Whenever I bleed the clutch or brakes - I always have an extra person helping me. I'll have him him pump the brake or clutch three times - hold it down - and then turn the...
