Kudos,
Went to a local junk yard, 3 trips (definitely earned their 3 star rating) and $40 later I got what I needed, listed as a 2004 eclipse rear spindle.the countersink was massive in the knuckle itself, I would think one of your custom parts would work for a late 3G guy, but you would have...
Honestly Bobby,
This 3G style should be the default for your shock pin, the bigger seat moves it enough for a shock with 2.5 dia springs out of the way for max clearance.
Is your shock pin aluminum or steel?
It came out of a used 2G rear knuckle, pretty sure I threw the knuckle itself away, I just wanted the shock pin.
time to start looking up avenger/sebring part numbers
Yes, the one with the larger seat moves the shock inboard, away from the tire. The opposite side with the normal 2G Bolt is where I have the issue.
The relationship of the lower spring perch to the Knuckle, to the hub, wheel and tire does not change with suspension movement. That is clearly...
Maybe the top bolt in my photo is from an Avenger or something else built in Normal, IL?
I messed up the internal threads on my old one, and bought a replacement knuckle just for the standoff bolt. Didn't notice it was different until later.
Other than the conical seat, they are identical.
My...
So I've known for a while that somehow I ended up with different lower shock mounting bolts in my rear knuckles.
Wasn't an issue until going from 18x10.5 15et Enkei RPF1 to 18x11 15et Konig Hypergram.
Only had the new setup on for 2 runs before the center diff shit the bed, but now getting...
Both the Oil Filter housings I have are leaking, one I cracked, the other is leaking from the rear plug that has the spring.
I picked up a "re-manufactured" OFH on eBay, and I am unsure if I should use it, they painted the entire thing, including the internal surfaces from what I can see.
Is...
I am giving up on the twin disc clutch, and the bolts that fasten the clutch to the flywheel are much longer than what is required to go back to a stock style setup. Is there a mitsubishi part number for these 6 bolts?
Raised the splitter half an inch, still not enough. Time to raise it again.
Got the wing installed. I don't think I've seen a similar mounting method. Probably because it is dumb, infinitely adjustable for no reason, lol.
I think I have some suspension tuning to do with the new aero, car got a...
First event of the season in the books, defending my title of cone killer looks to be in jeopardy, currently tied for 19th.
FTD and top PAX time takes away the sting.
Also, turns out 2" is a bit too low on the splitter.
For the time it was on the car, the butt dyno says it is doing something...
I weight around 200 lbs, so that is a net 20lb reduction, lol.
When I ordered the diffusers, I was like, maybe I should check the rules, but naaah, so fast so furious. Easy enough to remedy when I start buying real tires again.
The upgrades for this off-season are aerodynamics. Got the splitter done, now I just need the wing to show up.
Built the splitter to the limits of the Autocross classes I run (SM or XSA): splitter cannot be wider than the car body and cannot extend further than 6" from the bumper as viewed from...
Yeah, my input shaft is trashed too, I'm not familiar enough with Evo 1 vs Evo3 to know if they are compatible. Plus, you probably should hold on to your spare.
Wasn't it you I bought the 35/65 Cusco from 5 or 6 years back? I'd never seen this thread before, good stuff, got a sinking feeling when you said your trans was at Tim's, don't give up.
I still haven't put the dif in yet, but after my built trans stripped out 2nd gear, I'm looking for a...
The jam nuts are tight, had a problem getting them loose this year to do the alignment. I just checked my 2nd set of arm that is not on a car and there is definitely play along the axis of the hole in the balls.
Do you have a part number or recommendation for an F2 rod end?
I have a set of the tubular rear toe arms on my car and I am seeing excessive play on them.
I am paranoid about wheel bearing failure, more an issue on the front, but with rear axles hard to come by, any play makes me nervous.
I don't think the movement I see is the wheel bearing because I only...
The ignition transistor and plugs wires are all snug. I checked each plug and got spark. The only stuff in my engine bay left over from when the mice were in residence is the engine harness and the hydraulics, car was totally stock back then.
The Sensor was put in 2016ish, car had limited use...
Engine and tuning is something I usually leave to the experts, so a lot of this is new to me. When you say the timing cells being used 2/4* are you referring to the range of timing showing in the log? Is load factor something that is adjustable in DSMLink?
For reference attached is a log from...
The picture of the mouse condo in my stock intake is from a decade ago, No mice in the current garage.
I checked all the grounds, everything looked good. I tried switching the starter ground from one of the starter bolts to its own bolt on the top of the trans, no difference.
MAP sensor is...
The car is an autocross car, ran it for the first time in 4 years back in May with no problems. After the event it didn't want to start (and stay running). After trying a few things I ended up replacing one of the injector connectors (one of the wires was loose and pulled out), and the car...
If you want a spirited driving tire for the street, look at any 200 tread wear tire or at the Extreme Performance Summer Tire category on Tirerack.com.
You will definitely find more options in 17" diameter, as 16" and smaller wheels are becoming a rarity on new cars so the tire manufacturers...
So this picture was taken 5-10 seconds prior to my 2nd gear becoming 2nd Neutral
Jacks "Stage 5" with Evo 3 input shaft and Evo 3 Gearset, maybe 20 autocross events on it.
The 20-25psi valve, I was just copying my buddies set-up from his ESP Talon. I still don't know if it is actually working while on course, I need to put a GoPro facing the gauge to double check.
Well thanks to Pauleyman I figured out my no start issue, and that I got stiffed on what I thought were 1000cc injectors.
Turns out the shop that installed the injectors also didn't crimp the pins on the connector (at least on the #4 injector) and one of the wires pulled out at some point.
Also...
Just because you leave the hood popped, doesn't mean that there will be airflow thru the gap while driving.
I think I read somewhere it's actually better if you space the rear of the hood so there is a gap near the windshield (acts as an extraction vent).
Well, got the car out to it's first event in nearly 4 years, my first goal was to finish the event with a functional car, so posting the fastest time at the event was a bonus, ended up 2nd on the Pax index. Had some issues getting the laptop to log, nothing like having the laptop flying around...
Interior and non-sunroof headliner are back in, the sun visor clips are broken and I seem to have misplaced the pair I got 3D printed, so ordered another pair from Xometry. The seat sits too high with sliders on the typical Corbeau seat brackets, so I cut out the cross members and was able to...
I need to do more testing and measuring before I feel comfortable letting them out of the barn. Without looking at current material prices, I imagine these would be priced to much for most people.
I've got an alignment scheduled for Friday, time to see how accurate my toe and camber gauges are.
If anything I went a little overboard on the camber, although I'm currently using tools in my garage to measure and I'm not confident in the numbers I'm getting. I think I was aiming for a range of -1.5 to -4.5 and its looking to be much more negative than that (and with the ride height higher...
Funny, we both ended up plugging our sunroofs at the same time. Similar concept, but my brackets are lighter, fingers crossed they stand up to chassis flex. What did you use to seal the gap?
Finally have a garage again, so no excuses for getting this thing back racing (easier to get this one running, as the other Talon needs a new motor). Last event I did in this car was 2018.
Drained the fuel, changed the oil, replaced the 10 year old 285/30/18 Hoosier A6's with new 285/65/18...
I'm in OKC permanent now, any recomendations for a motor rebuild? I've facebook messaged with AP Racing and not getting the impression he wants to work on my silly DSM :(
they need a good clean... 16ish lbs, BBS 17x8, 45et I think, they tuck on my super low autox car with 245's (I've moved on to 17x9's).if you're still looking.
If you go to Xometry.com, you can get quotes for various materials from cad models.
There is a big difference between higher end machines and the hobby machines.
Same goes for 3D scanning; I got my 2g cast suspension parts 3D scanned by an Additive Manufacturing company up in Montreal that did...
I have racing harnesses in both my Talons, for the rear belts and outside lap belt I use the factory seat belt bolt locations.
Just fyi, expect skinned knuckles no matter how you try to install the seat brackets, lol.
The image below is of a fixed back seat installed without a slider. With the slider you might get 6 inches at most forward movement, pretty easy to see where the B pillar on the car is.
It would be easier to access the back seat by climbing between the driver and passenger seats.
To install those seats, you will need seat brackets ( https://corbeau.com/mitsubishi-eclipse-95-99-seat-brackets/ ) & since those are side mount seats, you will need 90 degree brackets to install them onto the sliders. You willl also need to ditch the stock belts and install racing harnesses...
