Do you guys have cruise control? I found one of my cruse cables loose. After getting is properly adjusted i had to reset my throttle cable. Does the idle change is you "pull back on the throttle body butterfly (light pressure in the other direction of the way the throttle cables would pull)
Did you check both sides of the turbo? Or just spin one side freely? Also may want to check water & oil lines in & out of the turbo. a restriction there could cause this issue.
I agree! I got a lot of small parts for my Talon at the dealer. The one we have was helpful, more parts I wanted were not "in stock" but could still be ordered. You can also look in local wrecking yards, "one mans junk...." Good luck!
When you changed the fluid you changed the filter as well right? If not the cleaning agents in the new fluid may have broken up debris & plugged the filter. Have you re-checked the fluid level? Can you feel the converter lock up in O/D? let us know & we can try & help.
In my line of work I have had to run a compression test before engine start-up after a inframe. This is information that the OEM sometimes wants during warranty rebuilds. The compression will be low for the first few hundred miles (500ish). If you can turn it over by hand & everything was...
I'm trying to keep this on the topic of the parts & fab work needed to install a VR4 4 piston caliper within a stock 16 inch rim. There are many people out there who would like to do a brake upgrade within the size limits of a OEM wheel.I know of many threads that different brake...
I'm looking to do two things, add some braking performance by adding the additional gripping pressure of 2 more pistons on each from wheel. I also want to keep rotating mass & unsprung wight to a minimum. Larger rotors do have more mass to disparate heat but there also traveling at a faster...
I got this info over on the Link site.
Steel Brake Caliper Bracket DSM 3000GT VR4I also sent a email to RTM racing,
(my email)
I have been doing a little research on this but have not gotten a clear picture of it yet. I want to stick with 16 inch wheels. I know the full 3000gt brakes...
I'll be there :-) I had some great service while rebuilding my motor from Yonkers parts department. I am the lead tech at a local dealership so I try to support & buy locally! Glad to come out see some rides & support a local company!
I talked to a friend at NAPA, he is getting me a vr4 caliper tomorrow. I'm going to pull one of mine & take it in to compare. With my 3g 16" wheels I have 6+ mm clearance between the outer edge of my OEM calipers & the spokes of the wheel. I will take a look at both calipers from centerline to...
Thanks! It seems everyone who upgraded to the VR4 calipers also used much bigger rotors. I what to use a smaller rotor than most people, to keep things looking stock. If anyone has a good picture of a 2g caliper next to a VR4 caliper or measurements of each, that would be great!&...
Yes, the post you linked is about installing Outlander mounting brackets & rotors while retaining the stock 2g calipers.I would like information on using Vr4 calipers with either stock or Outlander rotors.Thank you again. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding about my first...
I have been doing a little research on this but have not gotten a clear picture of it yet. I know there are two "budget" brake upgrades for a 2g. One using 3000gt vr4 calipers with cobra 13 inch rotors or using the 2g calipers with 05-06 outlander brackets & rotors.
I want to stick...
I work on nothing but boosted engines for a living. I have lots of experience with boost leaks. The should your describing sounds like one. Due to boost leaks high pitch & location in the car. Where the sound seems like its "coming from" can be deceiving. You really need to do a proper boost...
The cruise has a small vacuum pump mounted just below the control valve. You will see a small vacuum line running between them. When I get to work ill see if I can pull up a wiring pin out so you can check if the pump is working.
No math here, but I have a 2.3 stroker with 9.5 compression, head work & balance shafts removed. Other than that it in BONE STOCK. Stock boost level, stock ic piping, 2g blow off valve....etc as I said "stock".I can say however from the old seat of the pants dyno. It's a lot more "purky"...
I know you said the intake pipe is back together, but sorry I have to ask. Is the Maf plugged back in? I'm not at all trying to be a jurk, but sometimes we all miss the simple things. :)
"black dust"? What do you mean by this? With no logging software, a wideband or at least voltage readings from your o2 are we sure its running rich? Is there a check light on? Is there a cat installed?
When ordering oem parts from the local dealer I just tell them the year of the car, after all I have a Talon so my vin is useless to them. Their computer defaults to a manual trans car, so if you have a auto there are slight differences. In most cases I have found the dealers to be very...
Don't forget about having the block machined for piston cooling jets.4g63s aren't that hard to come by. As a professional tech I would say drive your N/A motor as long as it takes to build the turbo motor (and trans!) you really want then swap them out & start having some fun :D That's...
A lot of shops will just do a trans flush (without changing the filter!) when servicing a auto trans. This is due to the fact that trans pans are prone to leaking after being removed. I would go get a filter, new fluid & my preference is a oem trans pan gasket from the dealer. The oem is a very...
I'm with you, mark the lines & remove them one at a time. Inspect the lines closely. If you find nothing wrong with the lines then search for how to properly test your wastegate.
Just looking for ideas to kick around. I just ordered a eagle stroker kit from MAPerformance today. Just wanting to see what other guys with strokers are liking or disliking about there builds. I have read up on it just looking for the word on the street so to speak :) thanks in advance!
i have a quick question, sorry about gramer im typing from my phone. i was going to pull the motor but i would like to keep her running through the winter months. my thought was to pull the cams & do a leakdown test that way. any thoughts? i know i could put a timing belt back on it & run a...
That is good to hear! I think I'm going to pull it do some other little things. I'm a tech so pulling the motor isn't really a big deal. I'm thinking i will do some head work, new valves, springs ect. I might even go into the bottom end. i figure if I'm in there i should just do it once & do it...
just pulled out of the driveway, made a rolling stop at a stop sign. when it died i wasnt even on the gas at all. engine just died, really not that exciting
So I pulled out of the driveway today & what do ya know my car died. opened the hood to find this. Well I'm going to pull the motor out & do some work on it. Shes stock accept for a few little things, any suggestions?<a...
So I was broke last weekend but the girl was out of town & I felt like wrenching on the Talon. Figured I would free up some space in the engine bay by moving the battery. I also yanked the fuel vapor canister & vacuum lines. I put the battery in the little tool spot in the right rear of the...
thanks! i have a 00 se (sr20 roller cam) its got a crudy set of cams, header, & a ton of headwork! so at least it was fun for them to drive!?!?! & i used to work for a truking Co. & i had to fix a trailer that ran over a car! so i can somehow understand your pain!
