Looks like both timing marks are in the valley of the gears, are the dowels both pointing up? One of the timing marks should be aligned with a tooth on the gear on one side.
After looking at other 420a motors look like that how their timing marks are?
Input shaft bearing? the throw out bearing usualy will make noise when clutch is pushed in but a bad input shaft bearing will chatter with clutch engaged but go away when you push in the clutch. Someone correct me if im wrong. It just strange that it happened on both trans.

One thing i learned when using that tool is to use a little oil on the valve stems and keepers to help them to fall into place. Made a big difference for me.

What i did to break my main line loose was to put your two wrenches on the line then i put a piece of wood under one wrech then light taped the other one a few times with a hammer and it broke free no problem.

Have you checked your ignition timing? I was knocking @ anything above stock boost levels until i checked my timing, it was a 15* btdc. I set it to 5* btdc and now i no longer have any knock @ 20 psi.

Look at the order that the wires are on the other side of the harness and most likely the ones inside your SAFC are in the same order. Follow that as a guide line.

The 1gS pipe should work just fine, tight fit but it will work. You just have to angle it towards the front alittle. Mine fit with a 1G K&N filter and the adaptor plate for the 2G mas.
