There are many bolts that go around the entire body of the transmission to attach the bellhousing to the gear case. Take them all apart and pull the differential out, the speedo ring gear will be clipped onto that. Usually its not damaged but has come unclipped from the differential ring gear...
No a 4g63 fuel rail will not fit at all, the spacing between injectors is all wrong. You already have a '95 so your return system will be easy to adapt to whatever you decide to use for your fuel system.
For one thing get that bosch garbage out of there, use NGK exclusively, despite manufacturers best efforts to make products universal, some just work better than others. It could be excessive carbon buildup, if there is a bunch of carbon on the intake valves then you will get inconsistant...
I am using an aluminum radiator meant for a 2g turbo in my car with my stock fans for a 420a, so yes they will attach to the radiator just fine, not positive about about being the same power plugs though.
EVAP would be your charcoal canister and the related hoses and valves. I have never removed EVAP from a 420a so I do not know the symptoms it might cause, but I have removed EGR and found it to cause idle quality problems (though not severe enough to cause vibrations). The EGR tube will clog...
Not sure where you found your error code descriptions, but 12 is power disconnected in the last 50 starts, and 55 is end of codes...nothing abnormal there...Does this car still have all the emissions ? EVAP and EGR ?
I am always amazed at how little some people know about their own cars. People call to order parts or ask a question, i'm lucky if they know what kind of car they have let alone the year of it. Forget about knowing which engine it is, just give me the VIN and i'll take it from there thanks...
Okie dokie, so you moved your cam magnet (clockwise when you are looking at it) 90degrees, but you did this when the cams were lined up with the 2.0 marks opposing eachother...this would put your timing off by a few degrees due to the angle difference in the alignment marks. So you have your...
So in your other thread you said you timed it with the marks on the gears to the outside, this is wrong you should time it just like normal with the marks to the inside. If you have not corrected this yet then is it possible that your cam magnet is 180degrees off ?
Ah ha you did not move your injectors correctly, the proper order should be 2-4 4-3 3-1 1-2. 2.0 firing order as far as the PCM is concerned is 1-3-4-2, the 2.4 as far as the PCM is concerned is 2-1-3-4. Thus they should be moved in that order. Fix that and report back.A more thourough...
At least they are on the map now. That cam magnet is going to be a key player in ignition/fuel timing. Not that it should work with 2.4 cams but you did use the 2.0 cams right ? Double check that Injector harness that you switched all the pins correctly ?
I can't speak about the power difference between a low compression 2.4 and stock 2.0, but I do know your engine is not gonna have a lot of power if you are starving it of fuel. People have broken pistons driving their 2.4 swaps on stock injectors, just stop running it until you either get...
If you are running stock injectors then its running very lean. Try 60psi that should put you in the neighborhood, but if youre gonna do this via fuel pressure you are gonna need a way to view the ECUs fuel trims, and or a wideband.
No 2.4 injectors are the same as 2.0litre injectors the difference is in the computer, that is why all the writeups tell you to use 24lb injectors. If you have adjustable fuel pressure then yes you should increase it, i'm sure there is a calculator around that will be able to estimate how much.
You do not simply check your ring end gap, you set it by grinding the ends of the rings to fit the specified gap. 190psi is low for a 850 mile motor, Spec is 210psi so it sounds like either you did not get the rings seated properly or they were not correctly installed/gapped.
People hone cylinders with the block in the car all the time, thus the suggestion to cover the crankshaft. The end result of honing a cylinder is metal particles no different than when a brand new engine is seating the rings. Only he will actually have a chance to clean things when he is done.
I remember reading about a Neon back around '03 (when I bought my avenger) who had 8:1 pistons and his cam gears came apart, and after his experience decided that with that deep of a dish made his engine non-interference :P at least with the cams he was running. Its been so long they could have...
You should line your timing marks up just the same as you would if you were timing a stock 2.4l the only modifications that need to be made are to the cam magnet, injector wiring, and coil wires. In essence you are running a "stock" 2.4 you just need to modify the electronics to make your stock...
I had never heard of this until now, All my cars have been '97s and they have all done it. After some reading it seems some SBEC modules from '98 - '99 did not have this function. Though my sisters '98 neon does have this function so I don't know what to believe now =P
Well try it, it will work I promise, the Code list can be found in that link. It works on Every car I have had with a Chrysler powertrain, the ones with digital odometers even print out the code numbers instead of flashing them out, its pretty handy.
I am not sure why this would not work on a '99 as well, I have never seen one personally but I am fairly sure that it works on any Chrysler PCM before 2001 at least.

Because the time you spend changing this throttle body could have been spent turning your key on to off 3 times and flashing the freaking codes out of it.
This statement is not true at all, if you are trying to say you have to remove the crankshaft to install/remove the piston/connecting rod you do not have experience inside an engine.Leave the block in the car, remove the crossbrace from the subframe to the radiator support with the front...
I was looking for a thread about a guy that used a GS shell to transfer all the parts from his rusty TSi into. Cant seem to find it, but the bottom line is unless you are very, and I mean VERY skilled with grinding and fabricating, then dont waste your time even thinking about it.Edit...
You stated you are on a budget, there is nothing budget about swapping a 4g63 into a 420a car, they are not similar, they are not interchangeable without changing everything in front of the firewall and several things behind it, including but not limited to fabricating and welding new motor...
Although you flipped the cam sensor 180 degrees, it is still firing igniting in the same sequence, the only thing that would change is that the injectors are now firing in the wrong order, though it should still run like this. It sounds too me more like a bad connection in the wiring harness at...
Some of the older piston options for the 420a were down to 8:1 compression, the more recent years they revised them to 8.5 and then 8.8. I suppose it depends how much boost its running, I prefer to see closer to 11.5. With the 4g cars I have run over 12:1 afr on 92 octane, of course I was...
Does no one really know how its supposed to work ?Every electronic fuel injection system made in the last 20 years does this. With a narrowband O2 your ECU will fluctuate the Air/Fuel mixture from rich to lean to hunt for 14.7/1 mixture. It does this to keep your catalytic converter...
An FMU is a rising rate pressure regulator, you use it insted of the factory one. Some people leave the factory one and put it inline with the outlet from the fuel rail, that makes the stock one redundant and useless, but its a simple install that way.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that when you pull those pistons, that you will see some fresh scuffing on the sides, and that you will probably want to measure all 4 of the bores for out of round at this point.
Referring to the magnet that the cam sensor reads off of, its not likely loose because there is a nice fat dowl pin that holds it in place but it was just an idea of something to cause it to read incorrectly.I wish you good luck and a lifetime of patience using the DRB-III, what an ancient...
Different belt manufacturers have different part numbers but usually will involve a 4 or a 5 depending on the number of grooves in the belt, in your case 5 and then the length which is 490. Couldn't tell you what vehicle to search it for but if you tell the parts store you want a 5 rib belt and...
Best advice I ever took about a 420a was to remove that middle tensioner pulley and put on the shorter belt. Every problem I have ever had with squealing belts on them (very common) was 100% curred after I deleted that pulley from the system.Tensioner pulley - Whats the point ?490...
If the marks are lined up they are lined up, that means cylinder 1 is at TDC and the exhaust cam is in the right spot reguardless of how much the shop planed off.I say this because during my rebuild I figured out that somehow I was not paying attention when I installed my new crank...
If you arent sure what to get then you are not ready to rebuild your engine. You need to have a goal in mind to decide what compression ratio you want. The machine shop you take it to will inform you as to what size the cylinders will need to be bored too, and nothing should be bored without...
Since the second pipe will be for nothing more than looks you can "Y" or "T" into the pipe after the axle, that is where all the dual exhaust Avenger and Sebrings I have seen have done it...PS You can gain some clearance if you route the new pipe under the axle instead of over it, but then you...
ITS THE SOUND...seriously b series scream or 4g growl, come on...Besides that its the same hit and miss when it comes to the owners. There are plenty of dbag DSM owners out there that got "inspired" by fast and the furious. There are just so many more Hondas out there that the market went...
Then your book is very wrong, the middle pin should be constant 12v the ones on either side of it should pulse independently.Unplug the coil, use a noid light to test between pin 1&2 then from pin 2&3 each should flash when cranking. But the middle should have 12v constant when testing to...
