Sorry for my sporadic timing! I wasn't able to dig into the engine this weekend but I pulled apart the timing covers and attempted to manually rotate the crank with a new timing belt and everything lined up and I definitely have some pretty bad resistance so I'm assuming something is bent or...
Here are some pictures as promised. Not the best ones yet since the parts are still on the car. I have a work function this morning and I'll be back home this afternoon to take better pictures of specific items. I have a lot of interest in some parts so i will keep y'all informed of what's...
Posting this to gauge interest mainly, if there's enough interest I'll start pulling parts as early as tomorrow.UPDATED 16JUN182g AWD Shell with title (has some bad rocker rust, but still repairable, strut towers are solid) - $SOLD
FP black setup for external gate - $700

Check your ISC. Generally when they're bad you'll idle that high in park or neutral and around 1500 when in gear. There are various threads on how to test the ISC.
How much rust is subjective to the person who owns the vehicle. All the rust can be repaired if you're willing to repair it. Older vehicles that are completely rusted out can be restored to how they once were with the right amount of hours and work put into it...I guess the real question is...
I agree with picking up a 16g. You can find them anywhere from $250-350 shipped and PayPal'd. Up to you which you can find and your goals (S16G, Evo 3 16g or Big 16g). Get a used jpipe for $20-40 and you're all set. Then you know for a fact you have a geniune mhi turbo that will last. The...
Here is a good basic write-up on what you want to do:http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/basic-dsmlink-tuning-guide.262460/Look down the page at the WOT tuning section and that should help you get dialed in pretty well.Good luck!
So a quick breakdown on everything that has transpired over the past couple weeks:
- Got the car dropped off from my buddy (OKC to Lawton)
- Car had the engine in it and I was initially told there was only a few things needed in order to have it running (fuel system, wheel bearing, rust repair)...
Well, picked up another GSX. I have been wanting another project for a while and finally at the point where funds aren't the major factor in anything. Was contemplating picking up another Evo 9 but decided to get back into the DSM game. This makes #6, LOL
- 95 GST, 95 GSX, 90 GSX, 91 GVR4, 06...
Yes it'll move if you do that but honestly sounds like a lot of work. Why not jack it up and place some rollers under the tire to get it onto the trailer? Should be easier than pulling all the shafts and driveshaft...
Sounds like you're on the right track with the upgrades selected. Just keep reading and learning. Add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator into your list as well since an upgraded fuel pump will overrun the stock fpr.
I know you said you have a wideband and whatnot but it honestly sounds like fuel cut. If you're running the 450cc injectors on the 16g wastegate or higher pressures that's likely the cause.http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/fuel-cut-what-is-it-how-do-i-fix-it-merged.4348/...
Miller Import Parts - Specializing in DSM'sHe's a supporting vendor of this forum and located in NC. Really good guy who's very active on our state forum and he'll probably have the stuff you need.Good luck
While connected to the ECU can you go into captured values and add them to the right side? Right now they're not being listed as values that were logged.STEP 3: Data CaptureAdd the following log items to your captured values (F10): CombinedFT, MAFRaw and ClosedLoopMake sure the...
Sounds like something is wrong with your MAF. Are you running the stock 2g MAF or do you have a GM MAFT?Both MAFComp and CombinedFT (MAFTComp Adjust) use the MAF for the values. Either it's not producing the values or it's not connected properly to the ECU (which would make the car run...
Anybody in the area have a 2g MAF they're not using? TBH I only need the honeycombs but I'll pay for the whole MAF. I'm also in need of a wideband as well. Got a socketed 1g EPROM ECU for trade unless somebody wants to buy it.Thanks!
The ignition switch is probably the source of it not cutting off. As far as idling at 2k and fluctuating between 2-3k it's (EDIT: more than likely) the ISC.Double edit: ^ Beat me :PDSM ISC motor testing & Replacement - YouTube
How long has the car sat before you checked the tension on it? If you're checking it in the morning or after it has sat like 6 hours there will be slack in the timing belt due to the hydraulic tensioner releasing tension...
That's a 6 bolt engine so why would you want to replace it? If it has no issues then leave it in there.. You'd be swapping a 6 bolt for a 7 bolt if you went with the original engine which is backwards to what most people do..If you want help post up your specific problems and we'll try to...
While you're messing in that area a good thing to check if you haven't checked it before would be your harmonic dampener.. Sounds like loose belts but you really never know with how old our cars are getting...
Sorry guys didn't even see this until today! Maybe next weekend I'll be able to meet up if you guys are down. Sending my 780's out to get flow tested and cleaned and trying to pick up ECMLink here this next week or two to get this thing running properly
Hell yeah! Fixing a few problems the PO made to mine as well, then going to get it tuned so I can DD it for a bit while I collect parts. 5 lug swap, Evo suspension and Evo 8 enkei's ftw!Good luck with that tranny!
Just make sure they have the DSM flange and you'll be fine for a BOV.. here you go:Vehicle Specific :: Blow Off Valves :: DSM :: Mitsubishi :: Modern Automotive PerformanceJust to give a bit more information; On my 95 GST I used an HKS SSQV V1 and it was really nice. On my Evo I used...
Bump it up, just moved to the area and picked up 1150/2k. Two houses down from me is a 1g AWD (Walked down and met the guy - Eric, when I first got here :D). Nothing special going on around these parts? (Just moved from Bragg and got stationed at JBLM).
I can't tell if it's the same exact part, but it looks like it's the EGR solenoid or the Fuel Pressure Solenoidhttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/442720-what-part.htmlI didn't see an AFPR in the mod list you provided in the OP, so read this as well...
Nice brother! About the same boat as me! Been out of the DSM game for about 6 months or so and just picked up 1150/2k, trying to learn the GVR4 ropes myself since some things are slightly different. PO was complaining about the car dying when pushing in the clutch, I popped the hood and first...
Sucks to hear bro, are you able to get higher than a 260? If so you should request to do a PT test.. you already did all the hard stuff only to be pulled out because of the easier stuff.. You should try and do a PT test and do your best so you can get to that promotion board!
Sounds good bro, I think you'll do just fine! I still think you should be saying "I will" and not "I want." I just think it sounds better, like you're giving them positive reinforcement that if they give you a go, you will do something, not that you would like to do something. Good luck, I...
"My long term goal is before I leave the Army, I can train as many soldiers as possible, leaving a positive impact on the United States Army. I want to be a NCO to follow in the footsteps of all of the Non-Commissioned Officers before me. I want to display the roles of The Non-Commissioned...
^I agree with the two above me.. you don't need to make your bio so long since you may be asked to recite it to them and you're going to want to be able to do it without trying to remember everything in such detail. My advice is to make sure you know the NCO Creed, the Soldier's Creed, and the...
Just out of curiousity... you're obviously still looking at this car and are prepared to pay $6,000.. hence looking in the first place. Why not check the classifieds here? I've seen better looking cars going for $3500-5000.... Just throwing it out there. Good luckEdit: I don't want to...
The big 16g is the best DD turbo in my opinion.. Great power and spool... You won't be disappointed, go with the big 16g, but also consider you may want to look into more fuel and maybe ECMLink. As long as you keep the 16g on stock boost levels you should be okay, but it won't be the best for...
People aren't being disrespectful, they're being truthful. You randomly come on Tuners and make a thread after being here for less than a month. You have a bone stock (according to your profile) 99 GSX and want to go from 210hp (not even at the wheels) to 600+awhp. That's a pretty immature...
^ Agreed.. The gauge is a narrowband gauge.. Pretty useless unless you want a light show going off in your car. Save your money and pick up an actual wideband.
Very clean car bro! Looks amazing, congrats on the 11 :) Should be hitting mid 11's on my Evo as well! Hoping to hit the track in the next couple weeks after I double check the tune and make sure everything is running right. :hellyeah:
I say do it!! It's gorgeous.. I dd a 373awhp Evo every day, swapping turbos out this winter and going for 450, and I'll still DD it every day! (Doing a 2.4LR build though this winter as well). My vote is yes :)
Make sure your motor mounts are in good ahape.. I had an issue where my rear one broke and the starter wouldn't engage properly onto the flywheel. Just a thought of course, good luck
^ He's running ECMLink, so he can run any size injectors he wants without any issues.. Personally I'm running 1250's on my stock IX turbo just so I don't have to upgrade later on, which is a good idea, no point in buying and installing injectors everytime you want to upgrade..Put a 16G turbo...
Try a junkyard or look in the classifieds here. I'm sure you can find something for much cheaper than $250.. Check the part out threads and see if anyone has one for sale.
