If you don't like the video...don't watch it...plain and simple. I know exactly how frustrating it can be spending all hours of the night and stuff to get your car running....thats why i sold my gsx...but i will be getting another dsm soon now that i have my durango as a dd. nice vid...
when i put a 91 ecu in my 90, it did the same thing, i would hit about 3-4k and it would drop to zero, check the ecu, they have different ways that the tacks hook up.
dont let that valve cover gasket get media blasted unless you plan on removing the little baffle thing in the vc. just my .02, also awesome project, let us know what you run now.
with dsm's dont ever just assume that the timing belt was replaced because there is a very good chance it wasn't, especially just with having head work done, so I would hit up vfaq and do what it says for timing belt replacement. Use new belt, tensioner, etc..
Have you checked the air filter yet? if you have look in the mass airflow sensor to see if theres any water, if there is then allow it to airdry off the car and then test it to see if it is still good.
check to see if your aircleaner just got completely soaked, thats where id start. also make sure none of your hoses came loose and maybe pull a plug to see if it looks wet like water and go from there. let us know how that turns out. I think the tow company should offer discounts to dsm...
that maze looking thingy you talked about I believe is the valve body, or has something to do with it, and yes it is full of little ball bearings similar to bb's, so make sure you have all of those before going any farther, and did the trans even have fluid in it while your attemting to drive...
yeah thanks everyone, I found out after I removed it that it works with the cam angle sensor I believe it was and I was having some problems with boosting and the timing being weird so I'll hook it back up shortly. I'm rebuilding the head right now. Thanks again everyone.:thumb:
I did the vacuum line delete as outlined on the taboo page and I bypassed my boost control solenoid and removed it, so is this going to be a problem? thanks for the help everyone.
thanks guys im going to do a boost leak test real quick to see if anything comes up, could not having the boost control solenoid not hooked up create a problem? any more ideas anyone?
okay so in the me vs. my car battle once again I got K.O.'d, so a couple of nights ago i checked my cel's and they came up vss, and knock sensor, I fixed both tonight and am no longer throwing any cel's.... however I still can not get the idle to drop from the 2000 to 1500 rpm range(which it's...
just make sure you tap it in the line going from fps to fpr on fuel rail not before fps or else it will not read vacuum and will give you inaccurate boost readings, i did that on accident but fixed it the next day along with the vacuum line delete. I also ran my boost line and aft. market temp...
hey everyone, I pulled my codes tonight and a couple days ago my buddy and i were out testing the new prosport boost gauge out and i did a mild launch and after words we noticed that the speedo wasnt working, so tonight when i pulled my codes it came up vehicle speed sensor,(and knock sensor...
when the timing belt breaks then most often your going to have at the least some bent valves and possible damage to the pistons, if you can get the car cheap enough to where you'll still have some money left over for repairs and some unexpected costs, then yes i would get it if it seems like a...
yeah i picked up a page off of here for vacuum line delete and it shows wastegate-mbc-bov line? is that not correct?heres the linkhttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198327&highlight=taboo
first off update your profile, second is the turbo bolted securely to the mani? Is the mani bolted to the head tight enough, how were the gaskets in the turbo and on mani, etc,
this whole subject confuses the crap out of me, so if i get say an apexi safc then i still need a logger, or is a logger or and safc all i need? If i got dsmlink would i still need an safc? Super confused please clarify for me..thanx
the clutch quote was about right, most shops charge 300 to 350 to pull and then another 3-350 to install plus parts and labor...its rediculous, not sure how much your motor should be, mine was 100 bucks ### i had my school do it.:thumb:
you shouldve marked where the needles went, but for the speedo you can try driving by a heres your speed sign if you have those there to try to get it right or take it somewhere that does speedo work and they will be able to recalibrate it for you

first check the timing belt, if it breaks your going to have some damage
i would get all the fluids changed

there is a few things to check which there are many more but theres somewhere to start.. any more q's feel free...
i could be wrong but i believe the long ones are for eliminating the cat, and if you are running a wb than you should get the o2 bung in it, i think thats right but not 100 percent pos.
1) with stock car about 25
2)not worth it, if you want all wheel drive, sell it and buy a gsx
3) plan on robbing lots of things off a turbo 2.0 or all aftermarket which is not cheapwelcome to the dsm community, these cars are fun if you can keep up with the upkeep, also what kind of bov...
ok, so i understand that if i were to get dsmlink then i dont need an safc, and that i can hook my laptop up to the dsm link in the car, so what parts do i need to get so i can hook up my laptop up to a dsmlink, im confused....thanx for any helpdsm dreamin
you might have to take it to get checked out by state patrol or something like that, and if it is deemed drivable then you can be able to license it, thats how it works in wa. anyway, but call the dmv or dol and they should be able to help you out
i agree with a nice motor flush then some mobil 1 fully synthetic and the lucas oil stabilizer, they are an awesome combination, you should be pleased, if not then time for new lifters, and run that combo with the new lifters too..haha.
looks as if its in good shape, and a good price too, just listen to it run and listen for any noises, also look where the car is parked and notice if theres any fluid spots underneath it, other than that, happy dsming, you might want to see if it has the seven bolt or not too.
is this a new head, or the one that came off the car, either way are the lifters in good condition and is plenty of oil getting to the top end. just a quick thought, maybe something to look into
