Hope this helps give you a visual for it as well. :thumb:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/308941-how-replace-rear-awd-hub-assembly-wheel-bearing.htmlhttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-suspension-brakes/390477-changing-wheel-studs-drum-brakes.html
No need to rag on him for going so low. Its not even that low to begin with. Ive dropped my 2gs more than that on new and old struts and never have had the problem he is describing. So focus more on being helpful.
The purpose of the balance shafts in the engine is to cancel out the engine vibration that you feel. It does nothing for the engine as far as the assembly being balanced. They are to balance out the vibrations and that is it.People remove them for the main purpose of getting rid of the...
Oh yeah its definately on for this wednesday again. As of right now this is a weekly event out here. :hellyeah:Granted its probably a lot nicer going to the speedway but this is still to fun and so close. :thumb:
Hey no worries about getting the message late. There wound up being a pretty good turn out despite it being the first night and them not advertising much. The next one is next wednesday so you dont have to wait too long for it. :hellyeah:I definately didnt make it the whole day on saturday...
I did this when the wifey and I split. It is actually a lot easier to do than what you would think. I got lucky and found a car in the junkyard that still had a key in it and I took all of the locks from it.
I just use a shop vac to suck out any water out of the spark plug wells before starting it up. Im not saying its better than any other method but it does work well for me after cleaning the engine.
:hellyeah: :D This is awesome. I live just down the road from Willow Springs. I wont be able to bring the DSM, due to being under construction, but I hope there will still be a good showing. :thumb:Just a side note I am also going to the Pinks All Out and its on the 11th and 12th so it...
The centric parts company is a great manufacturer of brakes. I sell their product all day long to 100s of shops a day and rarely ever have a problem. I wont there is never a problem with their product because no ones product is perfect 100% of the time. But they make very high quality parts...
Honestly this site is great and I have learned a lot from it. If you think these guys are bad you should check some of the other car forums out there, such as some of the VW forums, and see how bad it can get. Its always MOAR LOW or CHeCk Out DEEZ RIms, and if your car doesnt meet the groups...
Just to make sure. You did the screwdriver in the back of the block test right? Not being a dick just making sure so we can try figuring out other possibilities. I have had that on a couple of engines ive gotten or friends had done to their own.
The Evo 8 turbo setup is flipped from what the DSM's are. So it would be a lot easier to stick with the 16g you have instead of trying to make the Evo 8 16g work.
You can still have everything lined up correctly with both belts and still have the rear shaft out of phase. So just checking to make sure it lines up correctly isnt going to determine whether or not that shaft is out of phase.
I know you can safely drill and tap all of those for a heli-coil or fix a thread, but I dont remember how big that makes them. Im at work right now so I dont have the helicoil kit to tell how big the drill bit is, but that should give you an idea of what you can do.
Hope this helps. :thumb:
I can honestly say I have never used a spring compressor when removing struts on any of the DSMs I have worked on. Its a lot easier to just use a jack under the strut.
A local meet would be awesome. :hellyeah:
Only bad thing is that both of my DSMs are broken at the moment. :D So I would be rolling out in a VW. It would look kind of funny sitting next to all of the DSMs but hey it would be there for support. ROFL
:aha: Hey guys there was a listing on Craigslist a while ago talking about mitsubishi club in Bakersfield. Its no longer on Craigslist but I have it saved on my email. Thought you guys might be interested. :thumb:
looking for people that have eclipse !!!!!!!!

Just stepping up to the big brakes is a very good economical upgrade. I have done it with most of the DSMs ive owned and am always satisfied enough to not go any bigger on the brakes. :thumb:
I definately appreciate the information, but it was more for the fact that it has the helpful little info and specs than anything else. I wouldnt ever want to do that swap at any point. :thumb:
Wow. Someone needs to make a sticky of these last two posts or least link to them in the summary at the begining of this thread. There is no way in hell I will be able to remember where this is when im actually going to need it. :thumb:
Honestly you dont need to bi*** the guy out for trying to help. He honestly thought he was being helpful. As far as whether or not it is possible for the exhaust to go the route you are describing anything is possible. I along with many others have had FWD 2gs that have exhaust run the route...
I would PM jusmx141 about whether or not you assembled the turbo right. He is extremely knowledgable when it comes to turbo assemblies and is very helpful. :thumb:
Hey guys I know this is an old thread but I am really curious as to what magnaflow mufflers everyone is running. So if you have one and happen to know what series it is please post it up. :thumb:
I know this isnt the problem you are having but I wanted to add it to this thread because it is good for someone that doesnt know to understand the diference. It was suggested in post #2 that your brake master cylinder could be leaking and you would see brake fluid inside of the car on the...
If it were me upgrading my rear brakes I would do it the simple but effective way. I would get a good set of pads, some braided brake hoses, and some slotted rotors. All three of those will improve how well the brakes will work along with how they feel. :thumb:
No not all of the 2gs came with vented rear rotors. Only some of the 95 AWDs came with vented rear rotors. Even if you did find a complete set for one of those setups you dont want to attempt to use a 2g rear brake system on a 1g. The 1g and 2g both use completely diferent style assemblies for...
You dont need a machine shop to plug the holes in the deck. They are just coolant passage holes and can be plugged with freeze plugs. The only trick to it is to make sure they are pushed in enough so they dont stick out above the deck. :thumb:Actually the more important question is whether...
The only real diference between the SOHC 2.4 block and the DOHC 2.4 block is the DOHC block doesnt require you to have to block the extra water passages with freeze plugs, which makes it slightly easier to use. Here are some extremely, and I do mean extremely, helpful links. :thumb:
7-bolt...
The important thing is to remember to get the rotors for the dual piston caliper brake system, which came on the 93-99 AWD DSMs and the 90-99 non turbo 3000gt. Those vehicles use the larger rotors that you will need for the swap, and they all use the same exact front rotor so there is no guess...
