I did this when the wifey and I split. It is actually a lot easier to do than what you would think. I got lucky and found a car in the junkyard that still had a key in it and I took all of the locks from it.

I just use a shop vac to suck out any water out of the spark plug wells before starting it up. Im not saying its better than any other method but it does work well for me after cleaning the engine.

The Evo 8 turbo setup is flipped from what the DSM's are. So it would be a lot easier to stick with the 16g you have instead of trying to make the Evo 8 16g work.

You can still have everything lined up correctly with both belts and still have the rear shaft out of phase. So just checking to make sure it lines up correctly isnt going to determine whether or not that shaft is out of phase.

I know you can safely drill and tap all of those for a heli-coil or fix a thread, but I dont remember how big that makes them. Im at work right now so I dont have the helicoil kit to tell how big the drill bit is, but that should give you an idea of what you can do. Hope this helps. :thumb:

Your right. Thermal doesnt offer a turboback for our cars.

VRS o2 elininator means it replaces the o2 housing. It doesnt actually get rid of the o2 sensor.

I can honestly say I have never used a spring compressor when removing struts on any of the DSMs I have worked on. Its a lot easier to just use a jack under the strut.

Just stepping up to the big brakes is a very good economical upgrade. I have done it with most of the DSMs ive owned and am always satisfied enough to not go any bigger on the brakes. :thumb:

If it were me upgrading my rear brakes I would do it the simple but effective way. I would get a good set of pads, some braided brake hoses, and some slotted rotors. All three of those will improve how well the brakes will work along with how they feel. :thumb:

No not all of the 2gs came with vented rear rotors. Only some of the 95 AWDs came with vented rear rotors. Even if you did find a complete set for one of those setups you dont want to attempt to use a 2g rear brake system on a 1g. The 1g and 2g both use completely diferent style assemblies for...

You dont need a machine shop to plug the holes in the deck. They are just coolant passage holes and can be plugged with freeze plugs. The only trick to it is to make sure they are pushed in enough so they dont stick out above the deck. :thumb:Actually the more important question is whether...

The important thing is to remember to get the rotors for the dual piston caliper brake system, which came on the 93-99 AWD DSMs and the 90-99 non turbo 3000gt. Those vehicles use the larger rotors that you will need for the swap, and they all use the same exact front rotor so there is no guess...
