I actually saw you towing this down the highway, (I'm assuming on your way home from buying it). Was merging onto 81 and there it was right in front of me. Very clean, best of luck with it.
I just recently got the urge to get back into DSMs and actually came across 2 that a friend of mine had and lost interest in. Needless to say I am now the proud owner of a 92 5spd awd tsi as well as a 91 auto awd tsi (Both needing a lot of work). You're build is exactly what I have planned for...
I never said because the car was old that nothing is going to fit. The point I was trying to make was they never came stock with fmics so ofcourse there is going to be some cutting and tweaking here and there. But I agree with what engineerthis87 said having to make things work is part of...
For all those complaining about fitment issues, you do realize that these cars never came with FMICS. So ofcourse there is going to be some cutting and fitment issues. I dont see anyone complaining to Mitsubishi about having to cut their front bumper so they can fit their FMIC. So why complain...
Havent been on in awhile and this was the last thing I wanted to hear when I did come back. Condolences to Brad and family. Im glad i was able to play a small part in this and am waiting to see video of the "car that tuners built" hit the track. RIP!!!!
Personally i would just change the belt if I was only looking for 12s. But thats just me. If you dont want to have to change it everytime you do the timing belt then i would go with a bse kit.
Unfortunately my talon project has to go. I got this car with intensions of going through and completely restoring this car just the way I wanted it. But unfortunately I found out my wife will be getting laid off in December so it has to go. Its a 95 talon tsi awd shell. Has full gray...
If you have a 16g on it,it is not a stock turbo for your car. Your car would have came with a t25. And if it is a 16g it wont have any problem getting itself out of the way. I wouldnt worry about boost control until fuel upgrades are taken care of. I would reccomend following the upgrade path...
If there is nothing wrong with the 7bolt I would just run it and maybe pick up the 6bolt as a spare(you can never have enough spare motors). Perhaps even build the 6bolt as a project for you to do over time to eventually put in your car or if you come across another dsm in need of a motor for a...
The oil squirters are'nt really needed, alot of people actually remove them during their builds. Here is this to get you started http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/5986-4g63-nt-engine-how-make-turbo-kit.html
Yes you are going to want a wastegate exspecially on a non-turbo that is getting turboed. The wastegate restricts how much air that is allowed into the motor. Without one the turbo would just force as much air into the motor as it wanted in the end causing detination.
The bumper bolts right up, as for the eclipse swap read through this http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/3752-converting-talon-eclipse-merged-3-8-a.html. Personally I prefer the 2gb talons so thats why am going with the 97 front bumper.
Yes definately not a 97 as stated before either a 95 or 96. But its a damn good start swap that front bumper with a 97 thats what Im doing with my 95. Bets of luck:thumb:
Definately a 7bolt. I would also go with a 6bolt as everyone has already stated. But if you wanted to stick with the 7bolt,seeing its already torn apart Id start with getting some forged internals for it. But thats just me. Good luck with whatever way you decide.:thumb:
