that 16g should be able to take that.. you may even want to look at a ball bearing garret or something, as well..Maybe, like, a 20g? that for SURE would make rude power up top
yes.. this is a very free mad, and makes a GREAT difference, as your fuel pump is only getting half the volts it needs to run at capacitybut yeah.. you will have to eyeball it.. just search "diy 1g install kit" or something to see some pics of it
ummm.. well, i have heard and seen online some cats that actually have 400 hp on the stock bottom end.. they are built VERY strong from the factory..11k is more than enough to get a 1g, and make some SERIOUS power, or a 2g, and make some serious power.. lol..Do you have any experience with...
You got LOTS of reading to do.. Tuning an ECU driven car is way different than a v8... especially with a boosted ride..you will have spend lots of money on supporting mods to HANDLE the HP...yes.. they are damn near bullet proof, IF you take care of themThey are great project cars...
yeah.. i gotta say, that when the head was removed, a wire go jerked loose or something.. get a DSM manual with a schematic, and start tracing wires.. lol.. thats the only way
nope.. 16g's are all oil bearing and water cooled.. you may have to route some new tubes in it.. i never owned a 2gmy bad on the name.. i forgot its called an install kit.. lol.. but yeah.. you need that.. the turbo and manifold will bolt up, but your piping wont route to the turbo like it...
hmmmm.. im sure what else there is.. lol.. and you have tried the other ECU? checked ground? checked continuity in the wires? it has to be something random... im at a loss.. lol.. seems like we have checked pretty much all of it..Anyone else here got any ideas?
well, since the 2g's didnt come with a j pipe on their turbo setups, then you need whats called a 1g conversion kit.. it basically re routes your piping to make it fit.. they arent too much money, and you may be able to fab most of it..
you have a spare that you ARE GOING TO TEST, but you already know it didnt change the problem? lol.. im confusedDid you replace the coil pack? have you checked that there is spark at those plugs outside of the cylinders? if the coild pack is bad, it would cause that.. there is only 1 coil per...
no.. not the ecu.. .the ignition control module.. its bolted to the left side of the intake manifold, by the coil packs, if i remember correctly.. its just a lil black box with some wires running to it
+1 for checking the caps, but if it ran before, i doubt that they went bad that quick..Really, it totally sounds like a MAJOR vac leak.. you can do a boostleak test, and that will tell you if there is any air coming in besides through the MAF...Start looking for stuff.. check the vac lines...
may be a rod bearing.. how many miles? have you taken the valve cover off and ran it to see if can get a better listen to the noise? HOPEFULLY its in the valvetrain, and not the bottom end.. when i tossed the rod in mine, it sounded like a socket got left in there.. hahamore than likely its...
mine was down for 4 months.. engine rebuild gone bad, and ate a bearing, then the swap, and another NA motor with my dope pistons.. took forever to get the motor.. god.. i am glad thats over now.. haha.. but yeah.. 2 engines and 4 months later, i was smashin.. haha
have you checked all your van lines and everything? any leaks of any kind? for sure unplug your MAF and reseat it... I did that to mine.. lolDoes it run fine, and then just die? or is it struggling to idle?
oh.. ok.. Yo comprendo.. :)We will grab one of those then..We are just looking for the easiest rear end to get up there.. of course, thats probably not going to happen.. haha.. I just need to get under there and start measuring everything to see what will fit
so you are saying go with a t56? what did those tranny's come out of? i can get one this weekend...But anyone hear of swapping the mighty max rear end?
well, I have done conversions, but never a 4cyl-v8... I was thinking, maybe a mighty max rear end would be more suited for this, as it has the same motor, and may even the same frame.. its got almost identical width.. although, i know the mighty max rear end is a solid rear end, unlike mine on...
Sweet!! Thanks.. I post on other starion forums, but they are usually dead.. There are only a few sites that are as active as this one.. THAT is why im posting here.. Its a good site, with people who know their shi+.. :)But yeah.. like I said, as soon as it gets cooler here, im going to...
My bad? anything constructive to add, my friend? just looking to go fast, and looking for constructive comments on the issue at hand..and if you read the 1st post, you would know why i am posting here..
thanks :)THAAANNKKK YOU!!! you are the man.. i just want this thing to book..Any...
HELL YEA!! My buddy and I, when first discussing this, wanted to boost it, but fuel injection is a bi***, and I wanted to boost right.. Supercharging is hella common on every v8.. i would LOVE it... but y eah.. helllla priceyI have run No2 on cars before, and I think it would be nice to...
Yeah.. lol.. im looking forward to it.. lol.. im just hoping there are lil things I can do to make it easier.. lolWhy on your god's green earth wouldnt you read all posts first?I ALREADY HAVE A FULLY BUILT 400HP 350...this is a RACE CAR.. haha.. I dont give a shi+ about gas.. If I...
ummm.. like I said.. I ALREADY have the motor, tranny, and most of the other stuff.. and we already thought about the dizzy.. lol.. we are going to COP setup for that.. We were already getting an MSD box, so this seemed to be the good fit for it..As for the oilpan, I already found a...
for sure.. i tried going there, and noticed it was down, as well.. haha.. that sucks..I guess even after all the reading I do, the only thing I can do is start pulling the starion apart.. haha.. Im just waiting for the weather to cool off so I can take a 3 day weekend, pull the motor, clean...
Here is the cardomain profile for it.. its got a few pics in thereYeeeaaaahhhhhh: DJYoshaBYD's 1986 Mitsubishi Starion - Stockton, Californiawow.. no need to be a jerk.. im looking at their site now.. i just dont see anything.. plus, i just emailed them, and im waiting for a response...
sick.. i know I will have to fab some stuff.. im going to rebuild the rear end so its all strong like.. I have an 89 iroc-z driveshaft, and a fully built 350 with about 400 hp.. Im going to custom fab the tranny mount on the stock crossmember to mount up a 5spd 88-90 z28 tranny..I KNOW these...
I have looked everywhere possible.. I dont know where else to turn, so here I am, at my favorite DSM forum to ask:Where do I find elephant ears to bolt in a chevy small block in an 86 mitsu starion?I dont want to hear WHY I shouldnt do this.. just help.. lol..I have the car, the...
yeah.. but how much do you want for one? i only have 300.. plus, im in cali, and it would have to be shipped.. I just called just about every single recycler to find a 12a (stock turbo) and cannot even find that.. the turbo that is on there is not rebuildable.. goddam, this is becoming a pain in...
im trying to find a replacement turbo for the starion, and I now know I cannot bolt my old 14b off my talon to it.. at all..so my next step up is a 14g.. what mitsu cars came STOCK with there turbos? It impossible to find them, and I cannot afford a 16g right now, otherwise it would be on...
yeah.. that is exactly what it is doing.. im actually in need of a 16g as a replacement, but I have a 14b that I can rebuild real quick and hopefully put on..Im just hoping I can take the 14b compressor and cartridge, and just slide it into the exhaust housing... we shall see.. lol
ok.. i just picked up a mitsubishi starion turbo IC... its sweet.. its smokes, though.. I KNOW the turbo is through.. the shaftplay is about 2/3 of an inch.. lol.. but would this cause alot of smoke out of the back of the car? It also smokes right around where the turbo is bolted to the...
you got low oil.. There is nothing that you could have done to make it have low oil pressure.. Did you take out the cams for some odd reason? What did it read before you changed the valve cover, because there is literally nothing that would make that drop in pressure happen from just the valve...
or you can bolt on a 16g with an install kit..First off, you want to do all the free mods you can.. The filter hack is cool and functional, but ugly... if you want clean, then try looking here for an intake..Intakesnext, go for an exhaust.. You can get power, a sweet exhaust note...
I have heard of people swapping the heads, but I may have my parties muddled.. My bad.. :shhh:But that re-enforces the fact that the 6 bolt is far superior to the 7 bolt.. bigger head ports, better flow, bigger rods, better built...There would be no reason to downgrade a car that came...
yeah.. you could take it up to 12 psi, if you can watch it for knock.. keep it 10 and under and you will be cool.. It will be a big difference, considering that the t25 flows about half the air that the the evo 16g...
You will be good with your injectors right now.. A walbro 190 lph (or a 255 with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator) fuel pump and a fuel pump rewire will get you some more fuel, then get something to tune with, like an SAFC or dsmlink or dsmap or something to that effect.. If you get an...
Dude, you can run your 16g just fine on there.. you will need a 2g install kit, but you can use that turbo stock.. keep it under 10 psi, and you are gold.. any higher, and I suggest tuning.. you will totally notice the difference between a t25 and a 16g at the same psi...
