I have checked alot of springs myself with the same brand of spring checker, and I also have a calibrated spring to know how far off mine is.
My stock dsm spring I have checked close to what bogus got. No others to check though.
I have never checked springs with retainers on them, so I would...
instead of putting the degree wheel on there with the zero up try mounting it upside down where you can see it better. In the car is a pita, done mine.
For mounting it I had found a old wrist pin, I cut down, and a old bearing race to space it out from the engine and a longer bolt for the...
Rings are seated only once. Now if it sat for a while with the head off and kinda rusted the cylinder walls up, it is possible the rings are stuck. Broke rings will do something simular, especially under boost, usually there is a slight miss thats goes along with that though.
Well I have used copper spray on every OEM style composite gasket and never had any problems of oil leaking past it like that. I think the head should have the seals double checked to make sure they are still in place. Thats alot of oil in the ports. Were all the ports filled like that or just...
A leak check of the cylinders isn't going to tell you anything about the oil rings. You did a compression check and that all looked good from your numbers. If you have access to a bore scope you might be able to look in the cylinder with the piston down and see if you see any scaring on the...
I had just done some spring and retainers of the same brand on a cylinder head ,minus the guides, for a guy about 6 months ago. He decided to do a rebuild this winter and wanted me to freshen up the head with some new seals. Well after disassembly I went to pull out exhaust valves and some of...
i guess the question would be what happened to the 4-bolt axle cups? or is there a difference in the strength from a 4-bolt with cups vs. straight up axle?
i only have been fooling with the 1g stuff and this is the first 2g for me and its not what i expected to see from what i always read...
bootlegger_2/95 eagle talon rear diff and axles - Photobucket - Video and Image Hostingnow i was thinking that the all 2g and some of the 1g came with a 4-bolt rear axle.
but this is not what seen when i crawled under the car.can anyone identify this or know of a link to find out...
I have run into this same issue accept my car does start and i have notice it more lately because i have been driving it, but any ways my gauges arent working at all when i turn on the key but if i reach down and tap on the fuse panel or move it around all my gauge come on and the lights on the...
Yes in franklin, i work here at napa and would like to help you out.
We have a machine shop here and i do all the work and very familiar with what you have if you want to give me a call on monday here 791-1659.

Sound like you may want to start by taking radiator cap off and looking for bubbles white smokes indicates coolant if its a lot also fuel can give you that same look to a certain extent does it smell like fuel?
Does it run past idle if so how good?
It has been a common thing with all makes that when something get dropped, smoked, melted or anything like that and you run it a bit to much it will get into all the cylinders, seen chunks of valves from #1 cylinder end up in 3-4, so as a rule of thumb if any of the above happen be sure to clean...
if the crank is turning 1000 revolutions per minute, the oil pump pully is about the same size as it is, then it should be turning that also, i am not sure you are turning it fast enough.
nasty noises you say, how is the car running is smooth idle or rough a little?
my belt had jumped 2 teeth...
i had the same problem with copper washers before and have had some luck by just taking the copper washer and a propane torch and heating them up until they look like they are rainbowed colored, almost like when steel has been really hot, and the surface has to be really clean and dry. the heat...
most ring manufacturers will give you guidelines to follow depending on your engine demands like turbo, spraying it, drag racing, stuff like that, now i went stock in my stuff and went with whatever the factory says except for the 2nd ring i made mine the same as the top ring gap, because the...
http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.htmlhere is a good page to start with. lots of info here, so save this page.
maybe between the 2 of you, you could both tackle it with no trouble.
stock rods are press fit piston pins, most machine shops can change them if you get bigger piston, but not all pistons come that way or rods eagle has some rods that are a floating pin design so your pistons will have to have the locks for the pins, stock one don't.
i used the valvoline syn. in my trans., transfer and rearend. it seems to shift just fine but i have royal purple motor oil, cause someone gave it to me, so i'm using it.have you felt like your shifting wasnt up to par, i done mine before i even had a chance to drive it, and i abuse it on a...
if there is noise coming from the valve cover i would check the timing, sounds like all the valve lifter are ticking like crazy, belt maybe off a tooth or more.
:tease: LOL you said nipple...http://www.ecanfix.com/users/mdhamilton/index.shtmlheres a link to the vacuum routing and other very useful info save the link you may need it again.
my compression gauge hose also doubles as my leak down tester, all you need is to regulate the air pressure from your compressor, a cheapo inline vale ,available at any parts store, works good enough.
could be a valve not seating in your low cylinder, always have your head done with a rebuild...
if you manifold is glowing then your oil in the turbo is fryin, better let it run for a few minutes after beating on it to let everything cool down somewhat.
personally i use the hondabond i have no leaks on my pan and even have a windage tray also, which uses the hole pan bolts to hold it in place, and no gasket.i used one of those pointed end you put on the tube and make a bead about 4mm in diameter around the pan, put it all around the bolt...
you maybe able to fill the coolant back up and then try cranking it to maybe see if there is any air bubbles coming out.would be a sign of possibly head gasket leaking.
my rear spoiler does that also, need to take off cover under hatch and see whats there to tighten up.mine is actually pretty loose.was wondering about those kinda mounts, did you put in 4 new ones or just 2, being front and rear?
you probly wont see the oil, do you have some ticking going on or something, or no oil pressure?the hole in the rocker arm shoots the oil on the roller, very tiny hole, some may leak out around the end were the rocker sets on it but would be very little i would think, just enough to keep it...
usually the only time it sucks from the overflow bottle is when your car is cooling down, like overnight, i dont think it will just driving around town.
here are few pictures of my plugs i have the other one half installed.i am missing #6 wire in the plug ,wasn't there from donor car.i have found 1 wire a different color and have marked it for myself.any suggestions?thanks
i would say cv axle also, wore out.if you put on new boots the damage was already done i'm sure because the grease gets slung out, i guess you put in some grease when you done the job.
depends i guess i work at napa so i seen just a little difference in price dealer the highest of course 40.60 for composite, napas my cost 24.10, i think the felpro was only about 8-10 dollars higher, and beck arnley was about the same as felpro.i have been told to use copper coat on these...
i would start by feeling all the wires coming from the postive post sounds like 1 has grounded it self to something the wire will feel hot the is grounded.
were there any grounds hooked to the exhaust for o2 s? i have herd something about that before, and there was a ground strap hooked to mine before the swap i just made another to replace that one.
there is 1 thing i have notice on composite gaskets, that of the 3 gaskets i bought, victor, felpro, mitsubishi, there is absolutly no difference accept the stamp from which operator made that particular one, actually looked like they all came from the same factory and then stuck in a different...
how much boost was you doing, maybe check out bov? have you tried gettin on it in just 1st,2nd?
had an experience similar ended up being stock bov bolts had come lose and one fell out, but my did not quit running or pop outa gear. sounded awful.
yes someone stole the ecu out of my car, oct/92 eclipse gs 2.0 non-turbo 5speed, i have another one jul/92 eclipse gs automatic, well when they got the ecu they just chopped the wiring harnes off at the plugs i am attempting to put the other plugs off donor car in this one the thing i notice was...
