Since I HATE when I finally find someone who had the exact same issue as me in a forum, but they never post back how the issue was resolved, I figured I'd go ahead and make my update.I received the shim kit (MB241903) and they range from .102" to .126" as seen in the picture. I definitely need...
Thank you for the very detailed reply Tim. I am going to try to shim with the MB241903 kit. I am hoping this will not require the need to mess with the pinion shims. In the off chance it does, how do you remove the pinion? Is it a press fit and I would just push it out w/ the press?
I'm in the middle of adding the EVO diff in my 2g housing. My issue is I have about .009" backlash (book says .004"-.006"). So obviously the answer is that I need to reshim.I see in Mitsu ASA that the shim kit I need is MB241903. What shims come with this kit? I can't seem to find the info of...
Not sure if you're still looking for parts, but Miller Imports (millerimportparts.com) usually has a good selection of stuff. I was able to get the rear axles from him about a month back. He may have the knuckles too, though I'm not sure if they'd be the 2gb ones.
Sounds like a pretty good deal if you ask me! Even if all you really got was a clean shell... I spent $1850 plus gas and uhaul rental, and close to 20 hours (road trip from NE Ohio to Philadelphia PA) just picking up my 2g SHELL (no engine/trans).You didn't get ripped off, you just entered...
First the quick specs - 2.4 block, 2.0 AEM Cam gears, 2.0 head, FP3x cams (Additional specs are in my profile)This is the first time trying to start the car from a brand new build. I crank it over and it cranks a few times, but then it will either stop cranking suddenly, or it will bog the...
Haha, sorry. Didn't mean to imply you were dumb, but you never know who is asking the question and just wanted to make sure you didn't do something you'd regret.
Yes, the above should work. I don't think you'll find one at a hardware store, they usually don't carry AN fittings. However, if you find a good diesel shop, they may have one. I had to do that last weekend, needed a metal 1/8" npt to 4AN fitting and they had one at a local diesel truck shop.
Honestly, I'd just buy a line from extremePSI and try to sell the other line. However, that's not what you want to do. Options would be to see if the people you bought it from would allow you to return it or maybe just swap for the correct one if they also sell that one. Otherwise, you could...
He hit all the high points. If you're looking at increasing boost w/ the boost controller, you'll need something to tune with. Don't just start twisting that little nob thinking you're making more power and not doing any damage. If you post up pics of what is and isn't there, we can help you...
Are you close to any diesel shops? If so, you can call them up and say you want that turbo. However, you'll need to know a lot more than just an "HX40". I was lucky when I called my local shop, the guy knew what I was trying to do and was able to help me figure out what I was really wanting...
I found the manual, but didn't find the harness data, so thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I am trying to just get the pinouts as I have all the wiring and misc. connectors I could need, so I can save the $20. However, if no one seems to be able to run out and verify the connector wiring, I...
I got an AutoMeter electric fuel pressure gauge with a motor purchase, but it has no harness. I need to know what pins go where! I have attached a pic of the gauge. Please tell me what pin and where the wire goes. I also need the pin out to the fuel pressure sending unit. There should be 3 wires...
Just throwing out a suggestion... maybe the balance shaft plug bolt? This is my only other thought if the oil isn't coming from between the pan and block. Not sure if you know where the bolt is, but its in figure 12c :
Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED)Just check that it is tight...
To avoid starting a new thread, I thought I'd just update this one. I just moved to New Bern and am looking for some help on my 95 GSX build that needs to be relatively close to being done by Monday (July 20th). I start work that day and can't drive my g/f's car forever. If anyone is close and...
I bought this one a few weeks ago. It has some very good background information on DSMs that I didn't know. I have not gotten too far into it yet, but looks like a good read.
I guess the main reason I asked was because my buddy is dropping nearly 15K into his civic, and us w/ AWD platforms need to upgrade the t-case, drive shaft, rear end, and rear axles, on top of everything a FWD platform would need to run. So I was estimating about 4K more than what he will put...
Well, his plan was only 700, but then with the mods he is dropping in, people in his forum were guessing closer to 800. But we all know how honda people are.... ROFL
You are going to post final prices when you're done, right? Because I am very interested in what I need to start saving to compete w/ my buddies Civic. He is going to be pushing nearly 800Hp and I can't let a Civic beat an Eclipse!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the there is no thermostat, the coolant will just continue to flow, right? So maybe what you should do is remove that new thermostat, put the thermostat housing back together, remove the cap and pump water into the housing. At the same time, remove the lower...
UPDATE:
The issues with the engine are as follows:
- Need a new thermostat housing, it broke off.
- Need a new cam gear, I think it was the exhaust side.
- Oil pan seemed to have dented in where the plug is, just hammer that out a bit.
- My new oil...
It's ok, we laughed too. It was a good sign actually, because it wasn't blood, and it meant that he was not ejected from the car, so we knew he had just ran as soon as he found an opening...
My g/fs knee is about twice the size it should be, and she has chest/shoulder pains from the seat belt, and I have a brush burn from the airbag on my arm, and my left leg and neck are sore. Our poor dog literally shit himself he was so scared, there is a shit stain on the roof of the car...
Thermostat is broke and is not one of those fail-safe ones. It is broken closed. I had this happen in my GST. Amazingly enough, it did not overheat and blow the HG. I was doing freeway driving, so it kept the temp down till I got to my apartment, and my overflow was boiling!! Change that out...
It's cool man, that's why I posted this up. It helps to just share your experiences. Much better than to just hold it all in. I know we were all ok and it could have been SOOOO much worse, but I still get upset just thinking about my g/f screaming after we landed and me yelling out her name...
We didn't get a new dog. The dog that was in the car actually ran away as soon as the car stopped. We were not able to find him all night, then we came back Monday morning at 6am, and he was standing in the front yard waiting to get picked up! Completely unharmed.EDIT: I'm retarded, I just got...
Yea, thank God my gf is only 5' even. If she was any taller, I'm not sure how that would have turned out. Her side of the car was completely smashed and the roof was below the seat line. We actually, the seat headrest is sticking out the back pass. window, as you can see in the pics.There...
Yea, I figured as much. I was thinking about getting some AEM ones, buuuutt, after a $125 ticket, $480 towing bill, and the $30 of gas in the tank, I'm going to be on a budget! Hahaha, I know, what else is new?Well, I think I win on the worst weekend...
If you can move it, your tendon is fine. I would take it easy on it for a while to make sure it's not nicked and you don't tear it trying to do something else.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/309044-cant-work-car-while.html#post151617459I did this and SAW my tendon, it was nicked, but...
I know! My first thought when I started losing control was "Oh f***, that motor is in the back...". In other words I was worried that it was going to get thrown forward onto my g/f....
Ok, so I drove home from Athens Ohio to my hometown of Canfield Ohio on Friday to visit w/ family and pick up my motor from the shop. I was at my buddies house after a short night of off roading in his corn fields when my mom calls. She said that our dog just died and I needed to come home and...
I just realized I don't have one of these. Just to double check, I have a 95 GSX with a 6 bolt swap. I still use the "7bolt" plate because it mounts to the tranny, correct? IE part number - MD191171
GET THEM OUT! And measure them 4 times. Then ask to have the new ones measured and compare. Maybe I'm a unique case that had issues buying these, but I can't imagine that.
That CVUnlimited company is the one that sent me the wrong ones. They are nice and will get you the right ones eventually at no additional cost, but took forever to get the right ones!
HAHAHA!!! Good luck w/ that. I ordered a set of front ones from a company for my 95 GSX. They came and were too big to fit in my transmission. They insist that those are the right ones because they take them out of the car, rebuild them, and then ship them out.Long story short, I wound up...
Not sure the specifics of the transmissions, I thought you could use the same one with a special adapter that I think Buschur has. But I agree that these are NOT easy swaps and require extensive modifications. It is a common swap because we all love our 4g63's! :D
Concerned? Depends on your definition of concerned. I would say the car will continue to run, but you'll have to keep an eye on the oil consumption assuming it is burning or leaking oil at a moderate rate. If you'd like to have this car run for a long time and/or would like to get the best...
