Cleaning up the garage, stuff is from the DSM after swapping in the 5 speed. Trans is long gone, only things left is the pedal assy, shift assy with cable, the OEM auto trans cooler with the lines, and a spare auto trans mount plate. Price does not include shipping. Don't mind the 5 speed...
Compression arm balljoint is shot if you can move it up and down like that. It probably won't take much force for it to pop loose completely. I'd suggest expediting repairs before you hit more potholes. Check your axle boot for rips or tears as well. Any tears will let in moisture and dirt and...
Are you looking for max grip? Will you be doing straight runs or spirited cornering as well? What kind of temperatures do you see in AZ? I think Direzza's are nice but they might be a bit extreme if the desert nights get cold enough.
7" spring, 2.5" diameter with a 450lb/in rate. Standard Eibach's that came with the Ground Control's. Front only.
Bottom pic is 275 lb/in. Rears.
FYI you can't run these on stock style struts. You'll need the GC coilover setup or equivalent that houses 2.5" springs. You'll also need decent...
Are you asking why your car still runs even though the alternator doesn't charge? It can run off battery for a bit. Not in a DSM but I've drove for over an hour in my Jeep on battery alone.
I also back this up as well. After I got my head from SIM, they all leaked with oil poured in the combustion bowl. I cut my losses with them right there. If they can't cut valves, I don't want to think about what else they can't do. There was already a number of other things I wasn't happy with...
I use the dark grey nickel antiseize for turbo and manifold bolts. Yes, the light grey stuff is not rated for those temps but it doesn't mean it's crap. I'd use it everywhere else. I also keep a jar of the copper antiseize as well. I mix it up with the copper and light grey stuff.
What's the part availability like for FWD trans? I've thought about doing an AWD swap but it's looking like the swap will be easier than sourcing all the parts for it at this point. And I have a Shep FWD trans as a spare to hold me over.
Depends on how soft or hard the tread compound is. Look to other people that had the same tires and see how many miles it lasted for them. That also varies depending on vehicle weight and power and how hard the person corners.
Get some cobalt bits to drill it. Standard black oxide bits will not work here. Neither will the titanium ones. The bolt and and easy out are both hardened steel. The bolt is definitely grade 8 or higher for sure.

I run Fragola line. Very easy to work with. Not as bad as some people make it out to be. I used a flat screwdriver to spread the braid to fit the olive on. After starting my car and finding a pinhole leak at the line from the filter to the rail, I replaced that with the same type of line I had...
Head gasket issues seems to be a common thing among Scoobys. Every craigslist ad I peruse always says something along the lines of "needs a headgasket change" or "burning coolant." Funny thing is one of the local guys got a Forrester with a supposedly WRX motor swap. On boost, he overheats and...
Usually happens in the front so that's surprising. Take a pic if you can. You could try to patch it up but if it's rusted out like that I'd wonder what the rest of the car looks like and whether it's safe to drive anymore.
Are you running a high enough boost where you feel you need one? Let me rephrase, are you having issues with your BOV opening or not opening and have tried adjusting it already? $140 is steep for something that would just slightly increase drivability for 75% of people on here. Plus you need to...
I figured as much but I posted that link to show they do exist.
Here's a used one:

I'd start with about 400 instead. Watch for fuel trims during cruise and idle. Deadtime adjustments matter the most at those. You should be close though. Enough to get it running smooth at least.
Considering the labor hours for a timing belt is probably north of 5 hours and average shop rate being $90 in the area, I highly doubt anyone will want to do it for that amount.
I run the vent from that hole into the exhaust. After a moderate pull it'll smoke pretty bad for a little bit. With a catch can and lines heading upward, I don't think it should be an issue. A crank scraper will also help. My lines run straight back into a tee and then downward.
+1 on Gates. I run the water pump on both my DSM and Jeep. I run the kevlar belt too. Other than OEM, I do not see any other company producing as high of a quality as Gates.
OEM pulleys are made by Koyo usually. If those pulleys are made by Koyo, I would not hesistate to run them. You'll see the...
You cannot take off that bracket without taking the belt off. I was T/S an oil leak and that bracket was one of the things I wanted to take off to see if the bolt punctured through into an oil galley and the belt had to come off. The studs should easily be replaceable with the engine still in...
You can try to replace the o rings. Bring it to an parts dealer and see if they can match it up. Shouldn't be too hard. Personally I don't think you'll ever leak oil out the top and if you do you got bigger issues.
Work backwards from the head to the turbo. I'd start with a boost leak test again with it at the TB elbow. Most obvious ones would be intake manifold to head gasket, TB to intake manifold gasket, and TB elbow to TB gasket. Another one would be the BISS. Make sure the O-ring is in there. ISC also...
Is this distributed among all the states? How reliable is the info to guarantee a pass with no CEL on? Is it automatically exempt in the machine that they hook it up? This is the first I'm hearing about it.
