You could be heat soaking the stock radiator?? Maybe upgrade to a aluminum one.Or maybe try to run multiple aftermarket electric fans. so both kick on at the same time.
Buy a new Radiator Cap.Also if the Radiator checks out to be not clogged, hook all the hoses back up, Put coolant back in the system, start the car and leave the cap off until the car reaches operating temp (adding coolant as needed). That way all the air can get out of the system.If...

I remember having a similar problem back in the day. but mine was injectors and spark.It ended up being the CAS. Apparently it has alot to do with the injectors firing and the ignition sparking.If nothing else put the old coils back on and see what happens????
You need to try setting your base idle and Base ignition timing.A Haynes Manual tells you how to set your bases. And its not as easy as just turning your CAS.Also make sure your TPS and ISC are both pluged in. Your idle would be hard to adjust without them.Hope this helps.
