My car does the same thing. It is designed that way so that when you are driving over bumps your fuel gauge doesn't bounce around with the fuel in the tank sloshing around.
While you have the fuel pump assembly out, let the float arm hang and see if your fuel gauge reads empty. If it doesn't, move the float by hand to see when the fuel gauge starts to move. It could be the needle on the gauge itself or the fuel level sending unit. Make sure the ignition is in the...
You may also have an ignition problem. Cold start problems are also associated with spark plug cables that are arcing with moisture on them and once the car warms up, the moisture is gone so the miss goes away. I would try to diagnosis the car when it is missing to eliminate things. You could...
It sounds like something inside the transmission is binding up not allowing you to get into 3rd gear. My guess would be that you have a cracked synchronizer blocker ring on third gear. Also check your fluid level and condition to get an idea of what shape the internals of the transmission are.
Yeah definitely not NORMAL! I bet the caps are leaking for sure and he covered it up. Send that ECU back and get your money back if you can. By the way great job on my ECU Steve, car runs great and fires on all 4's!
I would recommend getting all of the parts listed above and running the additional wiring onto the existing wiring harness. I hope that you are up for the challenge.Good Luck.
I think that your biggest problem as it was already stated is HUGE Phantom knock... Check your wiring for your knock sensor, check and set base timing at 5 degrees BTDC with timing connector grounded, Check your mechanical timing, Cams etc... Also check and see if you are knocking at idle...
Just incase anyone finds this thread in a search. I needed to add drivers to my computer for the serial to USB cord I was using and then change what COM port zeitronix uses. I also found out that a 392 constant display by the EGT means that the zeitronix module isn't getting a EGT signal from...
You can try adding ATF 4 (Automatic Trans Fluid) to the oil and see if it helps at all. There are alot of detergents in it! The best way to get rid of that is replace the lifters with the revised 3G lifters.
Your low oil pressure could be from bearing clearances, oil pump, etc. If you're burning oil it could be piston rings, valve seals, etc. Depending on how much oil you are burning I wouldn't worry about that as much as I would about oil pressure. You might end up finding out an engine rebuild...
If you apply power and ground directly to the pump and it doesn't turn on then the pump is open. (Bad Fuel Pump). Make sure you have your powers and grounds where you should through out your wiring incase something caused the pump to short out and you don't ruin another pump.
I have a 16G evo III and had the same problem. I ordered the 34mm flapper from Slowboy, ported the wastegate hole, ported the inlet, and it works great. I also ported behind the flapper arm and made sure that my 02 housing wouldn't stop the arm from opening all the way. You just have to take your...
I can't get my computer to log anything with the zeitronix AFR setup. My computer does not have a serial port connection so I purchased a USB adapter cable. When I hook up my USB cable from the black box to my Toshiba Laptop it recognizes new hardware.(I have windows XP) It tries to look for...
Maybe this will help. It's straight from the service manual... Start engine and run at curb idle speed. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and clog the vacuum hose end. Measure the fuel pressure. (Non-turbo 47-50 psi at curb idle) (Turbo- M/T 36-38 psi at curb idle) (Turbo-...
Yeah about that miss at about 6k... It turns out that my 16G Evo III is boost creeping up to about 22psi. I am going to either port the exhaust inlet side of the turbo and go with a 34mm flapper or just go with an external waste gate and weld the internal shut.
It is still possible that you are hitting fuel cut. The air is denser when it is cold and you will pull more air. I have that problem with my car @ about 6k and 16psi but hopefully a fuel pump rewire will help.
