Reaction time doesn’t have impact on overall et though. Clock only starts when the beam is broken from front tires. I do have a routine down for leaving under full power. It just takes a while. I have some things to try for a stall up routine but ultimately I’m at the mercy of my converter.
Looked over the car from the last track outing several months ago when I went 11s..... my turbo decided to try and eat some of my maf.....Still gonna send itp.s. that is a boat load of jb weld on my j pipe. After welding it some of the welds are a bit sloppy and rather than keep rewelding...
After patches was sold it was time to find time, energy ,motivation to work on Betty white/white gurlll. Roy from “roys injector service” came down from Connecticut to throw down and make things happen. We got the motor and trans attached after having to swap starter plates and find a missing...
Sadly it’s time for an update I wasn’t so sure was going to happen. After sitting for a while with clutch engagement issues I kept lowering the price until I had a solid offer come through. I decided to take a few hours before pick up happened and see if I could find the cause of the issue. I...
Funny that the part appears to cross over to Mazda Miata as my private search had me looking up similarity between the 13b rx7 knock sensor and the dsm
You’d think after dropping a v8 into a Vega putting a 4cylinder back into the car would be a walk in the park. It’s really not. If you plan on keeping the same geometry for the transmission/driveshaft / transmission crossmember you’ll actually have to cut out the firewall further because the...
Race day recap: First things first! Thank you to my incredibly amazing, beautiful wife for pushing me to get to the track for the final outing of 2020 and holding down the fort with the little ones while I went racing.( I literally come up with a million excuses to not work on the car most...
Sure hope so, would loved to have done a direct comparison with just the turbo swap but since it’s last track outing and the upcoming outing once we get back to normal it’s about 100lbs lighter, new front drag shocks, and maybe a few other little tweaks
I know I can get hardware store stuff but I’m fairly fanatical when it comes to engine bolts that they need to be oem. I just like the look and feel of them. I’m weird like that.
Got the car pushed towards the garage finally for reassembly. Block surface is cleaned and head studs reinstalled. Going through engine degreaser, kroil, and carb clean like it’s my job. Waiting on gasket kits now so it can be put back together
Weather hasn’t cooperated. We finally have lighting in the garage and the nights are slowly getting warmer so I’ll be able to get the wife out help with the turbo swap. Snapped a few pictures of the turbo removal process. Not that anyone needs a walkthrough on how to remove a turbo from a Chevy...
Dear diary, Some progress is better than no progress..... I looked at the car today and then walked away from it .
In all seriousness the only thing I managed to do today for it was mount the ACT flywheel to the crank. I can’t even put the clutch on it because I don’t have pressure plate bolts...
Super small update on this car. After acquiring some spare parts from my blue car I’ll be installing a Supra side mount in it. I know it’s not the most efficient way to do things these days but I have a vision of a late 90s early 2000s resto mod kinda thing. The Supra side mount is just one...
Install pics/ possibly YouTube channel video will be occurring for that. 16g out stock appearing bad mama jamma in!I’m praying this build continues to teeter on that crisp edge of having everything work together ( or fight itself) depending how you look at it to still get up on the converter...
My dreams came true a few weeks ago. I’ve always been a fan of stock appearing turbos and trying to keep things super simple I’ve had my eyes on an hta68 to achieve my goals for a while but due to being a budget build a new turbo just wasn’t feasible and I was going to push the 16g until it spit...
This car was sold several years ago to a friend of mine, then sold to another guy. I’ve just purchased the car back in a non running state. Previous owner did a timing belt and upon firing it up the motor jumped time.
Found the tensioner pulley not set right and I believe that’s where it all...
Depending how the winter goes and money comes in I may have some work planned for it..... I’ll try to move some photos from Facebook over to here that document more of the build.
I’ve recently paid $325 for a complete running 6bolt long block out of a non turbo. I paid 500 in the past for a 6 bolt long block turbo motor. Both motors were purchased 100% complete top to bottom minus injectors and throttle body.
If I lived closer you wouldn't have to ask for help. Im not the best at body work but even for moral support I could lend a hand. Cant wait to see this beast again at the shootout. meeting you and Justin last year was awesome.
I thought to myself today.. "dsm tuners has been very quiet without updates from Dave" Decided to type yourame into the search and this is the first thing to show up and its bad ass! Its sad to see your old chassis junked but the new roller was definatley cheaper then getting the new...
What I did for my fire extinguisher mount since I no longer have a glovebox is just mounted it right inside the dash along the steel support brace that runs through the dash. It stays hidden out of the way and gives the passenger more leg room. Yes in the event of an accident on a track a...
I'm trying to help a friend here with a galant that I'm doing some work for.
I should have taken pictures but unfortuneatly I'm an idiot and didn't. I'm trying to keep from pulling the valve cover back off. The cams are very clean and bright in color. No paint marks. Just 2...
I know this is an older post but is there a mount difference for a galant vr4?Any idea on the new price for the updated 3 piece design with the included plates? Could this design be incorporated to have tabs welded on to hold the radiator and then eliminate the brace for the rad...
Kevin, definatley a fan of the truck. I'd love to find one already swapped. heres an interesting question for you on it. do you think with a 2.3 or 2.4 and a small turbo could the truck do any towing? I know it sounds really crazy I just think it would be cool to see a mightymax towing a dsm...
Very cool to hear. How streetable are the trucks? I'm sure you told us once before but I dont remember and dont think I've seen many pics of them. One of these days i'll build one. right now my mightymax/ d50 1/24th scale slot car will have to do. It covers a scale 1000ft track in .71x...
1sloevo.... You sir are beyond dedication. You are a crazy! I mean that in the nicest way possible. Atleast the passenger still gets to sit on a seat. lol Its definatley clean though how u removed everything. I still DD my car so thats out of the question to go that far. I'll have to get...
2169? wow id love to see pics of what all is left. I just scored a set of doors from a 91 laser at harrys u pull it that were manual with manual mirrors and no speakers. I just trimmed down inner panel that the regulator bolts to and also removed the door beams.
I camped next to a guy at the ilan travl park with a 2g spyder that talked me about all this.... He said he had several dsms and felt like bringing his convertible. The guy also told me that he personally knew shep and helped him swap a HG at an event so he could continue on through...
Fuel injector o rings are also a common leak. You'll really need to build a tester because u even though coulpers and clamps are new and tight doesnt mean they are sealed up 100% How did u seel the throttle body? did u also replace the seals on the throttle body shaft?
Rob @ "FIGS" is up in hazelton. Hes known as the local dsm shop. Does all sort of dsm builds/ partouts and basically specializes in 2g dsm. Im thinking the meets will start up full swing come spring time. Other wise the only other meets are monday nights in stroudsburg either at the lowes/...
always enjoy a video from Nate. Can't wait to see the tube front end. Please post measurements? I need to tackle something like this on my car as rhe rad support on my car has been punched back making my radiator somewhat v mounted. Probably great for cooling but not so hot for turbo/ fan...
It figures. Hopefully it will atleast be at the shootout. Atleast it was updated with a basically completed frame. This makes me wonder what happened to the guy who was building the tube chassis awd 4g63 dodge neon. The frame was completed and body was dropped back down on it and then it was...
