You can run -3AN TFE hose from the porportioning valve on the firewall back to the calipers, they require TFE fittings though. The rear lines on my 1g rusted out and this was way easier then trying to duplicate the oem line with a pipe bender, the brake fitting threads are 10mm x 1.0I'ts not...
That "whoosh" sound you get when you open the cap is not vacuum, its pressure. If there is a small leak somewhere it will depressurize the line slowly so when you go to crank it the next morning you will have to crank until the pump builds enough pressure in the line to start the car.Now if...
If all the pressure in the line bleeds off after time that would indicate a leak somewhere. If you're not smelling fuel in/around the car then I would check the fuel pump nipple o-ring, you could be bleeding pressure back into the tank.
The only thing off the top of my head is the stubby shaft from the bse kit, do you remember which one you had?http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/284824-best-quality-yet-most-affordable-balance-shaft-eliminator-kit.html
Good thread, nice to see what can be done if you take your time and do things right. How much difference is there between the auto awd exhaust vs. the 5sp awd exhaust?I'm guessing the 5sp down pipe will come up about an 1" short to the 02 correct? I picked up an auto car recently and was going...
Your water temp gauge isn't working because the sensor for it is was removed and replaced with an aftermarket sensor driving the aftermarket gauge. The broken sensor is pretty much useless, I forget exactly what its for but it's not needed, you can pull those lines off and cap them at the...
Pretty much, there's no room when the motor is in the car. All you gotta do is take the belt off, turn the oil pump sprocket around and re-time everything. When you screwed the sprocket on, the balance shaft was facing the wrong way, that's why everything lined up but you're getting a vibration.
You're going to have to redo the t-belt, the rear balance shaft was backwards when you installed the belt.
There's a plug on back of the block for you to check this.Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED) Go down to #24.
Go here: MAF Translator and click the support/downloads button at the top/middle, that will take you to the fullthrottle tech forums where you can download the manual and there's also a section for 1G/2G support.
Did you setup the translator box? It's not plug and play even if it was installed in another DSM previously.
You can get the manual for it here: 1G / 2G DSM MAFT version 2.XX (Current Version!) - Full Throttle Speed Tech Support
Check out Vfaq.com under "intake" for a writeup on replacement of those seals. If you can spare the cash I would just send in your core and get a rebuilt one, you can even have the vacuum ports on top removed if you want.
I've got a 2G trans in a 1g, its not that hard to do. 1g's have 3 engine mounts and 1 trans mount, you will need to remove all 3 mount brackets off the 2g trans and install the top bracket from the 1g.The speedo drive gear will need to be swapped with the 1g unit, you can use the 1g shifter...
I forgot to mention use the AFC to pull out as much fuel as you can in the 1K rpm range and that should help alot, excessive HC is because of a rich condition.
HC = Hydrocarbon Is this an exhaust sniffer test where they stick a probe into the tail pipe? if so sounds like the catalytic converter and or you have a bad 02 sensor throwing off the idle mixture.
You won't have to worry about the balancer belt if balance shafts have been removed. Hacked MAF's cause problems on some cars and work decently well on other cars, if your car runs well on a hacked one in addition to not recirculating the bov I wouldn't worry about it. The DSM link has an...
You will have to remove the tach adapter and connector off the 90 coil pack and wire it into the COP setup. COP setups don't work very well without an ignition amplifier like a MSD or Dynatek, you will most likely get spark blow out(ignition breakup) at higher rpm's...
Off the top of my head I'd say you need: oil pan from a turbo motor and front water pipe from a turbo motor and from what I understand the n/t block does not have a boss to screw the knock sensor into. I think your biggest issue will be getting the n/t motor to hold up to boost.
Is that a Manheim auction? Why cant you test drive it if you put it back where you found it? Anyway, its a 10yr old DSM with a 7bolt that doesn't run right at a dealer auction, be prepared to spend some money on it. Either way $2500 is good for a 98GSX with decent body.
That does not sound good, open the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder and see if the pressure in the pedal remains, you might want to connect a hose to the valve so you dont shoot brake fluid everywhere.
If you know where the starter is located you can tap on the solenoid and see if that does the trick, or you could try push starting it but if your starter does not engage checking spark plugs, boost leak and compression tests arent going to get you anywhere. Like SBR Joe said, it could have...
The problem you are describing is not really a common problem on 2G's, you might want to jack the front end up and crank the wheel to see if it still does that with the weight off the wheels.
When I first bought one a few years back I was asking myself the same question, I ended up putting 1500 HARD miles on it without issues before switching to a bigger one.
