At that point with all the work arounds to keep the motor in, why not just pull it and do it right. Probably not going to loose much time and effort. To answer your question, I don't see why you couldn't do that.
When someone says FP red and dsm in the same sentence the first thing you think is.....Whether its the new or old version. At any rate I clearly understood what Justin was saying.
It's not going to matter what turbo or psi or hardware you have, if you don't know what your doing and have a shitty tune, any head gasket is going to fail. Don't always listen to others who think they know, sit back, think about what your doing and make an educated decision. Just turning up the...
Yes, a 2g it what you want. But.....1g will also work. I run a 1g non-cruise cable and it works fine. I am sure someone can chime in on the difference, whether it's lenght, connections, etc.
Any of you guys that are running holsets worried about boost on the top turbo? Most holsets don't even wake up until +30psi on a single application. So I would imagine the same would be applicable to an extent.I have had both the 35 and now a 40 and for each turbo that was true, I was...
You can't bore out the hot/cold side to "make" them a 20g and NOT change the wheels. You are better off getting a bastard 20g cold side setup (cover and wheel combo)

I understood, they were talking about putting a hx35 12cm TH on the 40 to get faster spool, may not be 3200, and the same top end, but it came across that way. This brings me back to the topic of A/R conversions for TS turbine housings. There seems to be a lot of info out there and...
With a 16cm^2 t3 housing on an hx40 6blade I see 20psi by 3900rpms and 37psi at 4800rpms. I agree, don't see why you would need anything but the stock divided housings.
Besides the BEP bolt on .55 a/r housing has anyone reached the limits of the housings that are currently available now? Don't quote me but wasn't Dave still seeing gains in the T3 .70 housing?Good idea? Yes, can't wait to see where this goes.
Full T3 TS on a billet 6blade hx40 here and the flow and spool is great! I made the HP in my avatar with this setup on e85. 30psi by 4150k or something like that, and almost 38psi shortly after. Also, as said before this thread is ridiculous!
^^nope.I made 550awhp on a 255 intank and a 044 inline with an hx40 (38psi) and BM1550'sDepending on what you tune with I would go as big as you can. Hi z 2150s, I know it's hard to find 1680's the last time I checked.
Have you checked your fuel pressure regulator for leaks? It may be bleeding off a tiny bit of pressure, causing a sudden lean out and popping. I've had this exact situation happen and also thought it was spark blowout. Also I highly doubt your making 550HP (especially to the wheels) on that...
Went over to Beyond Redline for their dyno day and threw down 550 AWHP and 457 TQ at 37 psi. Not to shabby for a 20 year old stock block/head minus cams and standard arps :)HX40 pro 6 blade - e85 - BM1550s - 255 intank/044inline - twinscroll 16cm^2 housing - standard arps - delta 272's -...
I will grab some pics with the caliper tonight. I measured it some time ago, so I can't recall how I measured, but I think I remember the compressor cover inlet being less than 60mm.Whats the most accurate way to measure the 7 blade?
Justin,
I have an hx40 that came of a 8.3L cummins (tractor) from 2007. Specs are 7 blade (57mm inducer). I have also read on some desiel forums about this turbo, although it's apparently more rare.
you should be able to use your struts from your gst, although spring rate will be a touch lighter than they should be. I have never noticed on mine.I know for sure autos have different rear end gearing ratios and the auto rear end will not work with a mt tranny and transfer case.
read:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drag-strip/429501-ostar-motorsports-stock-block-2012-teaser-vid.htmlnow this isn't an everyday occurrence, but stock blocks will handle some abuse!if you have a well maintained motor, you will be fine.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/312350-how-set-base-timing-without-using-lower-timing-cover.htmlyour timing light needs to be set to 10* advance or this to work.
The top mounts are the same, but the bottoms are different. You will have to modify the bottom mounting locations in order to make it work. You will also need a 1g upper radiator hose. Many people do this mod to make room for large turbos and waste gates, as the 1g upper hose location allows...
I have mine dumped, but have been meaning to get under there to fab up a recirc system. I also wanted to put some flex tubes in there but I am having a hard time finding that small of flex tubes. As far as what's better, that's all preference.
Although this is a evo lsd(left) and a dsm open diff (right). The dsm lsd kind of resembles the evo version. Although if yours doesn't look like the one on the right then you more than likely have a lsd.http://www.gregus.ca/pics/gsx_lsd_bushings_09.JPG
I also tried everything. Let them sit in a hydraulic press overnight with no luck. heat didn't work, big hydraulic press didn't do it. I found another rear subframe that I was able to get them out of.Good luck!
what about a candle warmer? With a long extension cord to the middle of nowhere, with your wires for you pump extended so you can activate that also :sneaky:
I hope you aren't using this on your dsm for a fuel filter.Copied and pasted from their description:Disposable spin-on canister filters microscopic particles (10 microns) of rust, sand, dirt, scale and lint. Working pressure up to 50 PSI and/or 12 GPM. Compatible with gasoline, diesel...
Calan, I am no chemist/scientist by a long shot, but have you read of anyone trying some magnets or the like? Maybe the "goo" is sensitive to a positive or negative charge, or maybe that is what is making it crash out like it does. Do you ever see/find the actual goo on rubber surfaces? I have...
I don't think this will be completely solved anytime soon. This has been going on for years (although not to this extent that I've seen). People have tried all kinds of "fixes", with the problem still remaining. I don't think it's as simple as add this or take away that.
