So, i need to get another cam angle sensor for my 90 4g63t. I've priced the oem and it is rediculously expensive, but I found a Dorman replacement cam angle sensor for much cheaper. I would like to know if anybody here has used the Dorman version or knows someone that has. Is it a remanufactured...
Try some non-projected spark plugs gapped at .24. You could be getting spark blowout at higher boost levels. Your AFR's should be around 10.3-10.8 at WOT running only 91 octane.
Also, if the car has a lot of mileage, change out the tensioner pulley arm, as they can get worn out too. Mine had about an 1/8 inch divot in it where the tensioner made contact, making the timing belt extra loose even with a new auto tensioner.
So i've been trying to get some trans parts from Jacks. I emailed them last tuesday a parts list hoping to get a quote. I also called two days later and talked to a woman who took all my information and said she would get back to me with an estimate. I haven't received any contact to this day...
I prefer to not have hot oil inside the cabin of the car if anything ever fails ( which it will at some point in time), just my opinion. I run my sending unit (electric gauge) from the spot where the allen bolt is in your pic.
If you're doing the timing belt, might as well replace the balance shaft belt as well. If the balance shaft belt breaks, you're going to have all sorts of problems. Hence why people do the balance shaft elimination kits.
How does the scirocco rad sit in the engine bay compared to your thermostat housing? If it sits higher than the thermostat housing, you'll never be able to bleed all of the air out of the system.
Let me be the first to put up a link to a forum where a lot of members have swapped a 1g 4g63 into an 89-92 colt, summit or mirage. A lot of very useful information resides there when attempting to do this swap.http://www.4g61t.org/forum/
Rather than have everybody guess at it, try pulling the trans and have a look for yourself. It's inevitable if you want the problem fixed. I bet that whatever the noise is, you will find it by inspecting the TOB, clutch and shift fork.
I did not see the logs due to me not having a pc at the moment. Tuning will definitely change if you're using a larger turbo. You will most likely need more fuel to match a higher cfm. Why did you remove the flapper for the internal gate? You need that closed to build boost. The pressure is then...
Sounds like a mechanical problem to me. If all you did was slap on a new turbo, nothing with AEM should've changed, let alone the boost pressure. How are you controlling boost?
From my experience, a boost leak never caused a backfire, it only makes the car run and idle like crap. A backfire is caused by an excess of raw fuel in the exhaust and when it ignites.... BOOM! This is usually from being too rich.
The plugs with a needle like electrode are the iridium plugs. Many people don't like using them for multiple reasons. I haven't had any experience with them in a 4g motor. I've always used the standard copper plugs with the electrode like you have in the pic, and haven't had any problems(...
You're gonna have problems trying to make your own line (with a tubing double flare kit) or splicing anything in. Ask me how i know.:) I suggest going to the local parts store and finding a straight piece of steel brake line thats the same length ( or relatively close) as the one you're trying...
You're gonna junk the car even if it only needs a TOB?
Do us a favor and take the trans off and have a peek before you scrap it. It may not be as bad as you might think.
Sounds like you need a new head gasket. The bubbling over of coolant is from excess pressure in the coolant system, a root cause of a blown head gasket, along with the white smoke.
Hey man, I have a magnaflow 2.5" straight through catalytic converter with less than 2k miles. I'd be willing to get rid of it for around $50. I bought it and 3 months later upgraded to a 3" exhaust. Check my for sale ad in the parts section for my contact info.
I think you guys are confused. Rev limit keeps you from revving past a certain point. NLTS( no lift to shift) is just the opposite. With the gas pedal smashed and clutch in, rpm's won't drop below the set point (while you are moving)
Awesome find! You can't beat it for scrapyard prices:thumb: i'm looking forward to see what you do with this thing. What are your plans for the crate motor with low miles? ( dont even know why someone would spend $ on a new 4g15 :hmm:)
Also, just a suggestion from one fwd CSM driver to another...
Whats up with your oil pump gear housing cover? In the pic it looks like the gear was grinding up against the housing cover. Maybe its just the way the pic was taken?
Hey man, i saw your ride at east coast MOD. Nice job with the swap.:hellyeah: Just got caught up with your build thread. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to pull those swaps off. I know, i was the 3g summit there. I wish we could've met. I enjoy talking cars with a fellow csmer. Are you...
Dude! I had no idea you were on tuners. I was drooling over your vehicle for about half an hour. Sorry if i left any on it. Very very VERY nice build. :thumb:
I took a few pics with my phone and will upload them a little later. I was a little disappointed with the turnout of old school dsm's...
I'm guessing the heat trapped by the exhaust wrap is different than the heat you're talking about.WTFOP, higher temps will cause premature failure of any metal. The more metal is heated, the more brittle it becomes.
After looking through my logs, I was wondering if there is any direct correlation between wideband factor and the amount a VE cell should be adjusted. For instance, at a certain point in the log, wideband factor is 8.5% and the tracked VE cell is 90. Is there a formula that would give me a...
Don't forget to put your keys in the ignition so the steering wheel doesn't lock into position. Had that happen a couple of times and i struggled to get everything aligned.
I have adjusted my deadtimes and combinedft now hovers +/-3%. The isc now fluctuates between .30 & .35 at idle. Thank you.I'm running FIC 850s. I cant figure out why my AFrest is so far off from the wideband. Does this have something to do with global scalar under the MAFcomp tab? I also...
Hey guys, just looking for some feedback. This is my first time using dsmlink and have spent countless hours reading on this forum while trying to digest all the info. I'm pretty sure i have the idle dialed in enough to take it on a cruise. What do you think?
WOOT! I finally got things ironed out, and link is working correctly. A Big THANK YOU to Hal and Colt4g63also for pointing me in the right direction to fixing my problem. Long story short, i had a tuner shop wire the harnesses to first get it running, only to find out that they did a poor job of...
Well, i installed the stable version and early access like you said. It hasn't fixed my problem. If i start the car and get everything dialed in and save, then turn the car off and back on again, my settings are still there. When starting the car after it has been sitting for 10 to 15 minutes...
