    2g gsx subframe removal

I ruptured one of the return lines on the top of the tank drilling a hole for a ground for a rear battery relocation. There is no fuel pressure at the rail and this is the only conclusion I can come to.I'm over the stupidity of this mistake. Just need to get it done.

    2g gsx subframe removal

So I can access the e brake cables inside the car and that would allow access to the straps to get the gas tank out so I don't have to mess with the sub frame? Is that what you're talking about?

    2g gsx subframe removal

Thanks man. All this shit to take out a gas tank.Yeah I looked in the VFAQ's, and it's like "remove subframe". Which tells me absolutely nothing.

    2g gsx subframe removal

I need someone's help with taking down the rear sub-frame on a 97 GSX in order to pull the gas tank.Everything I've found doesn't really have any step by step procedures. If anyone who's done this can help, I would really appreciate it.

    2G GSX Fuel Tank Removal

I'm doing this right now. Looking at the rear section of the tank and all the mounting bolts are about the rear end.How the hell do I remove the tank without taking off the rear end? I just don't see it happening.

    APFR Readings

Well regardless of what operates the pump in respect to the key/on. I was turning on the pump with dsmlink, so there is no question the pump was operating. I had to take a break last night from the car. I'm gonna take the damn tank off tonight and take a look and see.

    APFR Readings

Yeah, my dumb ass drilled a hold right through a return line trying to drill a hole for a ground, right below the rear seats...yep on top of the gas tank, like an idiot. Now I have to drop the tank today in order to replace it. Hope it's not too much of a pain.My reasoning now is that the...

    APFR Readings

Yeah I'm having those issues too. However the pump is re wired and coming right off the battery. There shouldn't be an issue there but I'm not sure
  9. mikelv

    APFR Readings

Yeah that's what I thought, it's not reading jack. I pulled the line and put it in a gas tank to see the flow. It's pouring like an old man with prostate issues. If I have voltage drop problems, would that cause it? The pump not getting the proper voltage to run it at full power?

    APFR Readings

Would the APFR gauge produce/read stock psi (43psi) when the car is not running and fuel pump is on? (Switch on with DSMLink)I am assuming yes, but I need to ask this stupid question anyways. My knowledge base has perished some over the years of not touching the car.

    Engine Electrical

So I was able to get a week of vacation from work and I took the car out of storage to see if I could finally fix this problem. Trying to read back over some things that were posted and really not having any luck.I just took some readings and did some troubleshooting that actually made sense...

    Engine Electrical

Yeah man I just did all that, completely went through the entire harness from ECU to connections. Pulled everything out, check every wire, got rid of all the harness plugs that weren't being used...emissions stuff...stuff that wasn't even being used prior to this last build. The harness looks...

    Engine Electrical

Well I have an update. I did get the car to run, but was still rough. My adapter was messed up, so after I sent it away to be repaired, I was able to link the car and load a base tune to work from. Got the car to idle and run for a while. There is still a grounding issue as mentioned...

    Engine Electrical

ive never been able to before, interesting.but it wont matter anyway without loading a base tune. 1050's just won't get it done. my ECU was mapped by Thomas with 720's.there is some wiring issue with the car not allowing me to connect, until i get that correct it won't matter. thanks...

    Engine Electrical

You know it's quite possible that it's from sitting the past couple of weeks connected without being started. This was a bran new battery just a couple of weeks ago....and I had the same problems regardless...anyway I'll juice it up just to rule it out.

    Engine Electrical

Thanks for all your help and sorry I haven't been able to respond for a while. The car had to take a back seat to work.Couple of answers to address your questions:Yes, there is a huge battery drain when starting the car. The battery voltage is around 11.5v before starting, then drops off...

    Engine Electrical

Update:Okay, so I went through everything again.Traced every wire in the part of the harness that I took out. No frayed wires, no exposed wires.I recovered and replaced all the wires, and re-routed them properly in the engine bay and pass compartment.I also completely took the...

    Engine Electrical

Thanks for the information.....had an extremely long work week, so I will be getting on this in the morning. I will let you know how it turns out. Also, I'll give you a better picture of what the electrical system looks like.I put together a simple drawing to illustrate what is going on. (The...

    Engine Electrical

Okay, well I was messing around with it for a few minutes....I don't think there is a problem with the starter or battery....but more of a short somewhere. I got another weird symptom that I'm going to have to check out.I have no idea why, but my throttle cable is getting extremely hot when...

    Engine Electrical

Yeah I deleted that post because I just took that whole portion out of the equation. After I put the meter in series and disconnected about everything I could find...nothing happened so I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly. I'm not even sure if I measured the resistance correctly. I...
  21. mikelv

    Engine Electrical

Okay, using a test light. To make sure I'm clear on this, you put the test light in series. (Disconnect the battery cable, and put a test light on the post, and the other side on the cable.)When I do that, the light lights up pretty bright. So then I started disconnecting things to see if...

    Engine Electrical

Okay, there is a drop at the battery as well...so I'll take a look at your tech article. The battery voltage on cranking is 10.3 volts. The voltage at the signal is 9.3 volts.
  23. mikelv

    Engine Electrical

How and where would I get a voltage drop at the starter signal?I just changed that ground and now the motor is cranking a little, but still very slow. The meter is reading about 8.6 volts when I crank it.The starter signal wire in the harness goes to a relay under the dash. There are 2...

    Engine Electrical

Man, I have all bran new stinger 2 gauge wires, bran new distribution blocks, bran new grounds, and I made sure I sanded all the paint off the frame and grounded the wires. The battery ground is on the frame....using the rear seat belt bolt....that ground goes to a distribution block, which...

  26. mikelv

    Engine Electrical

I think I found the problem from what you've just written, I highlighted the text.I did a battery relocation for this car, in the trunk so the negative terminal on the battery was grounded off the frame in the trunk. The ground that was on the transmission was not on a starter bolt, it...

    Engine Electrical

From what I have been reading, would this be correct? It's seems that it would be physically impossible to bolt up a transfer case with a FWD flywheel. I mean, I had no issues with the transfer case. I mean since the AWD flywheel is smaller, you can mix that up with a FWD, but not the other...
  28. mikelv

    Engine Electrical

If you had a FWD flywheel on there instead of an AWD flywheel, would the starter not engage the flywheel? In other words would I have the symptoms I'm having now? Starter winds, motor doesn't crank, bench test shows the starter popping out, but nothing cranks? The gears on the starter are...
  29. mikelv

    Engine Electrical

Okay, so I bench tested, (or at least I think so). When I put power to the starter, the gear popped out but did not spin. When I changed out the starter with another bran new one, it still did the same thing. Once again, 9.8 volts was going to the starter.Test- Not sure if I did it...

I would be pissed if SBR sold me a FWD flywheel, I didn't count the teeth. (This is for my GSX not GST).This is a new starter from Mitsu, I learned my lesson a long time ago buying manufactured crap from NAPA.I will test voltage drop at the starter. It just makes a weird humming noise, so...

yeah, im ripping that 255 out soon.the bcs malfunction is causing timing and fuel issues in the ecu. when its malfunctioned, the ecu basically thinks the turbo is over-boosting. its really a fail safe like fuel cut. so it dumps max fuel no matter what adjustments are made to airflow (AFC)...
