As the title states looking for a 1g AWD in the SoCal area. Have cash in hand looking to buy. Let me know what you have. I am not looking for any projects, shells, non-running vehicles, just a nice, preferably unmolested 1g.
If you mean you are going to take your fuel supply for the solenoid from the port in the rail for the pressure gauge then yes, that will work for a wet kit. I don't know how much more "true" of a wet kit you can get. If you mean you are going to put the fogger or nozzle actually in the...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/1g-n-t-tech/157911-how-turbo-your-1st-gen-2-0-nt.html:thumb: I think you will find an answer to 99.9% of your questions through search and in the N/T tech forums.
Do you mean you want to go T3 because of the tubular manifold? They make tubular manifold for mitsu flanges. Anyways I would say that any aftermarket mitsu flange will hold its own against the T3 especially the FP30 hotside. I think T3 just opens up more of a market for you regarding turbos.
I think your best bet is to look around any of the DSM forums in the classifieds and find a car being parted out. Look here as well as somewhere like dsmtrader.com. Just a suggestion.
It is possible, with 660's you are nearing the limit of what most would consider its capabilities. You were right on the wish list to want a wide-band, either get that to tune with your safc or dyno tune.
Hey are you in ASM right now? I think you live right next to me in fall creek. My car is back home in Kansas too right now but its gonna take more than fixing a few bent valves to get it running. Anyways shoot me a PM or something so we can stand around and shoot the shit about DSM's. I can only...
What are your goals for the car? Both turbos are very capable and around the same power. I would definitely suggest bigger injectors than 650's for either one as any substantial power will be pushing these. Your injector selection is really limited by what you have to tune with. What will you be...
I guess I should have been more specific, maybe HIS crank can't, I was more so thinking of stock cranks in general. Polishing a crank should be okay thogh, correct? I know the cutting will go through the nitride coating but I ran a polished crank with no ill effects on my 3065 car.
Your stock crank will hold that and then some. There are guys that use stock cranks on cars that are well into the single digit range and faster.*For example Ken Davis made 1017awhp on a stock crank. At 400-450 you should have no worries.
It would be probably one of the best investments you could make for your DSM. DSMLink does remove the airflow fuelcut. I saw you had 550's, with link you would be able to step up quite a bit in the injector size like 850-1000cc (I know you can go more but I also know link can have some problems...
Check out Hahn Racecraft, they have been doing the 420A thing for a while. With something like doing a turbo kit I would suggest getting a complete kit even if it costs more, it is definitely worth the hassle in my opinion.
I like the look of the wingless on the 1gb's. On the big wing 1ga's I think they look better with them. They only thing I did with mine is get a laser wing with the rear window wiper hole deleted.
:thumb: I like noisy. I do agree as well about it dying and thats why I said I didn't want to be the one testing it..... ESPECIALLY at WOT. Anywho just kinda interested if anybody had anything to say about it. I love seeing knockoff stuff that is for huge hp cars. OBX makes a 42r you know. :D
I got a little bit crazy, about the only thing I have left is the sound deadening. That and replacing things with the lightweight versions, like carbon fiber panels and lexan. That is obvioulsy an unfinished pic, it will have an aluminum skin here in a bit.
Learn something new everyday. olmytsi, I know I have heard of the open dump wastegate issue before but I thought most people agreed that it wasn't an issue. I have run two setups with open dumps and have been able to get zero knock, but I am guessing there is an exception to every rule. Either...
Yup, your right my fault. Didn't think that one through before I typed. Wow and I really missed the timing belt that in the picture. Excuse my stupidity.
Agreed, you have sorta fubarred yourself. If I were you I would pull the cam caps/ cams rotate the crank to TDC and then reinstall the cams with the dowels at 12 o'clock to avoid bending anything up.
That is your problem right there. Unless you have 550's there is no way you can run the 2g MAS without fuel control. Put back on your stock one, I am guessing it will run alot better.
Why did you do the boost leak test in the first place? Was the car building boost while driving before? If it was not the second poster was probably right in saying you just have a pipe blown off all together. If it was then maybe there is some user error (doubtful but you never know over the...
I would also like to know how the EGR helps reduce detonation. To the OP, I have to ask though, how were you hearing audible detonation over your dump. If it is THAT loud I think you may have bigger problems. I agree that maybe you are mis-using the term detonate, and maybe you are seeing...
Actually I am in dire need of an external pump. :D I probably should have updated the profile. Since that 92 TSi, I have gone through a 50trim and a 35r. I am talking about this pump for an aluminum rod, gt42 car. :sneaky: I would like to test this pump, but I am a little weary of doing it on...
Agreed on the ISC being a culprit. You need to check for vacuum/ boost leaks. You can search around and find a ton of info on the ISC, how to set the idle and doing a boost leak test.
It sounds to me like you might just have a few idle issues to work out. Does the oil pressure drop of as it is dying or does it drop of and then die? It is doubtful it is crankwalk unless you got screwed and it is still the seven bolt, but even then anything is possible. Does the car die with...
I was just looking around for a fuel pump for my new setup. Specifically I was looking at the Pro Series Aeromotive and I happened to come across this.... eBay Motors: OBX High Performance Fuel Pump 2100HP EFI Pro Series (item 150281112110 end time Aug-15-08 21:59:32 PDT) $250 for a...
The MAF Translator works by taking an input signal from the GM MAF and translating it into a scale identifiable by your stock ECU. If I remember correctly it is coverting a hotwire/ voltage signal into a Karmen vortex/ Hz or frequency signal which is what your stock MAS reads. If you get the...
I started to make the downpipe myself. Everything is going pretty well except the FP o2 housing uses a thinner style v-band flange than the ones I have. If anybody has built one before what type and where did you buy your v-band flanges.
If I remember correctly the 3065 has a 35r compressor wheel with a 30r exhaust wheel. I run a DNP with my 3065. I have the older style with the 40mm mount and I can tell you the stock manifolds won't work with that style.
I just recently bought a 3065 and it has the 3" V-band o2 housing. I have looked around for a downpipe that would work with an FP v-band o2 housing but I can't find anything. Do you just have to get a V-Band flange and some piping and go at it with a welder or is there a vendor out there that...
What new parts did you install? There are a million different things that could cause a vibration. The lack of an FPR with a 255 could cause the engine to run rich causing a rough idle but I don't think this would result in a noticeable vibration in 2nd and 3rd gear.
 60psi on a leakdown test, isn't that alright? And I am positive it is the valves that are leaking because I had the exhaust manifold off and could put my hand right on the exhaust port. After I posted I did find some crap in there from the hot tanking (little bits of carbon and...
I just got my head back today from the machine shop. It had a valve job done. Before I took the head in and I did a leakdown test it leaked alot from the exhaust ports, hence the valve job. The valves are not bent and I pulled the cams to ensure that the valves were shut. Yet at around 60psi...
95blackgsturbo, I probably should have mentioned it has 550's and a small 16g. So the stock injector size/turbo are irrelevant. I'm pretty sure the automatic 1g had a higher fuel pressure, like what Steve said above.and sorry for not being clear reeper. It is a 5 speed car, with a 5 speed...
While taking apart my motor from my thread before. I noticed that my motor is an automatic motor. It has the smaller intake cam and I now remember the previous owner saying the fuel pressure was 43 (1g auto). The motor was replaced by the PO. I was wondering if the ECU would have problems with...
I have a '92 Tsi with a 16g on it. The car seems to lack some power so i've checked everything. Ignition, Compression, Boost Leaks....etc. But when I was doing this I did notice something. When it is at TDC (using the mark on the crank and a screwdriver in the #1 as a visual) the cam gears are...
