To be completely honest with you, its been so long I dont really remember. But, when that pin releases, it disengages the output shaft. so technically, its fine. However, by not switching the t-case, the rear wheels will spin the output shaft themselves. Ive broken axles and done this, drove...

Not sure what you want me to explain. With my switchable trans and t-case, If I switched just the trans, it would go into fwd mode.

I could switch mine to FWD mode without switching the t-case. Just FYI.

I ran a gvr4 trans for years until I stripped 1st gear. It was also selectable. Make sure you actually have a gvr4 and not the galant ggsx trans as it has a different final drive and WILL NOT work without swapping the front diff.

I have two of those! One is in bad shape and doesn't run. The other one I still ride at least twice a year. I also have an 05 Kawi Mean Streak.

8 months later and my DSM has been almost completely parted out :(It's time for me to pursue other things that don't involve me throwing a wrench across the garage. 9 years of DSMing has come to a close for me. Maybe its time to pick up the guitar again eh? Cheers!

Back in 04 I told you not to drive it. Now I think we can all admit its just a prettier pos dsm. So drive it til its dead :)

I know I sound like a cheap ass right now (i am a dsmer), but what do you think my odds are with keeping that tire on there? Is it really THAT bad?

You can SOMEWHAT see the cords. Not a lot of them but they are there. Tire rack is listing the tread depth as 10/32 (.3125). I am measuring roughly between .230-.260. So if I were to buy one tire, would that 100 thou difference be enough to worry about on AWD?These are Yokohama advan A82A...

A 26" on a semi fast dsm is just too tall. For the 8 and 9 second guys that are trapping high mph they are fine, but you might miss your RPM.
