hey guys,I am not new to this site and have been owning DSMs for years. I recently found a gem that has been parked for 10+ years....all original condition and no mods with only 90K original miles.
Here's the pics I took the other day of my new 92 Laser RS awdand another:and...
I know this question has been asked here before however I get mixed answers.
1.I know the CAS signal is inverted so I need to swap plug wires;
2.I have read about random misfires that can be cured by swapping injector pins at ECU?
Does anyone know which inj wires/ones need swapped at ecu?
I...
My 1G NT fwd/AT tranny is having issues:1.Idles perfect with no surge while in Park or Neutral at 800rpm;
2.When in Drive or Reverse idles DROPS to 400rpm and engine wants to stall but doesn't;
3.Press on the throttle, I get a low pitch noise, the car chugs for 1 sec(almost stalls) then...
Here is the story.
I got a "hybrid" 1995 Sonata with a 7 bolt turbo and a KM175-5 aka F4A22 tranny.
Never had any issue with the motor or tranny untill last night.
We had 8°F weather and I parked my car outside, next morning I go to start it, it barely starts put it in D and starts moving. IT...
1996 Mitsu RVR 4g63 MIVEC turbo ECU!
It will work in evo 4,5,6...but it's a "detuned ecu"...set up for smaller injectors, diff ignition/timing and octane maps..etc..
Since it's an eprom version any evo 4,5,6 chip will work in it.
You can't do much with it in US..well you won't pass emissions...
Anybody interested in 1G EPROM, 2G EPROM ECUS, EVO I, II, III EPROM ECUS , I got them all:1G's eprom: $360 shipped anywhere UPS ground;
2G's eprom: $360 shipped anywhere UPS ground;
EVO I, II, III eprom: $360 shipped anywhere UPS ground;Included:
1. Socketed to accept any chip;
2...
The process of replacing sounds easy, howerver most ISC drivers tend to blow traces in the ecu and you gotta fix that too. Unless you have some experience it's not worth messing with a RARE 95 eprom. Send it in to an expert...it won't cost much to get the job done right, and it pays off in the...
I highly doubt Mitsu is making more money in the American market, since they have been discontinuing cars for quite a while AND they were talking not to long ago to LEAVE the North American market period. IE: The colt it's not made for years in US; Europe and Japan is enjoying AGAIN a Ralliart...
check the tension with your hand, if you got a spare stock spring....you can tell on the spot the difference. Not to mention that the crower spring/retainer should weigh less than the stock ones.
And yes obviously a evo III intake manifold flows better....here are some pics of both TB and INTAKE MAN:The only diff between a 2g head and a evo I,II,III is the intake cam and exhaust cam. The evo exhaust cam is the same cam found in a 1G turbo MT....well it has the same part number...
Yep, that was my bad, the bore should be 60mm, and indeed a 1g NT TB will work. Me and a bud tried to adapt a different TB and I mispoke myself. I ended up using an HKS since the 1G NT parts were hard to find in Europe.
Hey Pj97GST take a look at these:
eurospec inst. clustereurospec ONLY 2.0L 4g63 7 bolt DOHC NON TURBO!!!eurospec tail lights:
[IMG]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j54/siral3x/ax.jpg[/IMG
Again smarty NO TURBO ECLIPSE was ever made in Europe or I would have owned one and knew abt...
"the manifold will bolt up but the TB and TB cable are on oposite sides then 1g/2g cars."
I meant the TB is oriented different on the evo III, not the manifold itself! Also the evo III TB doesn't have a TB ELBOW LIKE 1G/2G CARS! The throttle cable, and bracket on the intake manifold are also...
Cams you can change with the head on...HMM...I like 272/272 HKS cams. They are a little lumpy and like to revv. They are not a good choise for autocross...You want fast turbo spool, and mild cams for autocross. Different people have different opinions...
You have to pull the head to change your springs...some would say that you could use compressed air to do it but it's foolish. Installing keepers on valves while compressing the spring with the head bolted down it's not very easy! It would be if you would have another pair of hands I guess...
Cathedral port design??HMMM...for some reason I tought the evo uses that design because of the injectors are squirting fuel at a diff angle then the 1g/2gs...thus a better air/fuel mixture and flow...
Can anyone confirm ???
As far as I'm concerned Mitsubishi never made a 97 ECLIPSE GSX in...
If your goal is 500hp or so then the stock rods are not the way to go..well not safe anyways.
I would use ARP rod bolts also bc they are cheap and worth it. Make sure you get the cyl head nice and clean, tested by a machinist. Why not go for TI springs retainers?? They are worth it..specialy if...
It doesn't really matter because the difference between a 1g and a 2g head you can tell and check on the spot. They come with all kinds of casting numbers on all kinds of cars. The only difference are the cams and of course a 1g head or 2g head type.
If at any point in the log the InjDuty goes over 85% then you are maxing the injectors out. Make sure you are compensating the 550cc's corectly, if not compensated corectly the ecu will think they are maxed out when they could still flow more!
I hope you got the ECU that came with that JDM motor or you will spend lots of nights working on it. What year is your JDM motor???Is this a turbo 7 bolt??Is it a pre 95 motor ALDL or OBD2??
What I would do is BOLT everything and all sensors to this new JDM block including injectors, coil...
The Base fuel pressure on a AT is higher then on MT cars, but it should not hurt...
If you swapped 450cc's and a 14B then you got a few things you need to check:
1.Can you confirm that the 'new ecu' is good??got a buddy??try it in his car...
2.Does your wastegate is stuck closed??rusted??or...

He is located in Portland Oregon, and if he doesn't do it he can point you in a right direction for sure.
Give them a buzz, they are very helpfull.
I got my "STAGE 3 cyl. head" done local here in Michigan for cheap. $250 for all labor with my parts including...
CROWER??
HMm...I had the Brian Crower springs/retainers and they are marked "BC" on each valve keeper.
There is really no way of telling because some people use just the springs and stock keepers/retainers/valve locks.
If you got the cyl head out it is easy to figure out what you got. (Ex...

You can get that CEL code for a couple of reasons, but let me ask you some things before I can point you in the right direction.
1.When you did the 1g swap did you swap the whole motor? or did you keep the 2g head?
2.What ecu are you using? if eprom do u got a custom chip right now?
Nobody will give out information about the 2G code because they are selfish. When it's gonna be public then "DSMLiCk" sales are gonna go down :D
Keep tuned I'm working on the diss , and I will make it public soon!
Ceddy a member of this forum has quite some info piled up for 2G.

I can't really follow you, but if you're tring to say what I think you are, then NO I would not want any wires hanging in my engine bay :) , do it at the ecu...it will take some time, but it's worth it.
It won't work...the G63B is a 2.0L Starion etc sohc 8 valve engine.
You don't want to use a topline gasket either! I would go with the Mitsu gasket or MLS..depends on your goals.
It has been 3 nights of almost no sleep and I got the MD322364 aka EVO III BIN DISS almost 70%.
I can oficialy say that I have found the FUEL/TIMING maps, injectors setup, etc.
These stock fuel timing maps are the real deal to try out on a evo 3 16g setup.
LET me KNOW if anybody is interested...
Since my 1990 GSX got married to a canadian :) , I have been driving my uncles 2005 Mercedes Benz E320 CDI and I'm very impressed. Stock ratings are 201hp/369TQ WOW!
All torque is available @ 1800rpm and this thing is a rocket!!!
I offered my uncle 20k for it ,and he accepted. KBB is 35k+ ...
OK so since we're talking abt evo motor swaps here is a pic of the exact motor mounts:Then I also found on an old disc of mine a lot of info on the evo 2/3 eprom ecus including a 'rough' pinout map and lots of diss. notes pertaining the MD322364 rom bin. I know you can swap an evo III ecu...
Since you'll have a nice and tight cyl head you should be able to feel some what an improvement, but don't forget that the 14b only goes so far..
What are your goals?? What was the machine work price?? The port job looks decent.
You should find the new X in early November at dealers.
It just sucks that we have so many epa restrictions compared to the rest of the world.
STI will not be availabe in 2.5L in US anymore if I recall...a new 2.0L will hit the market.
Just so everyone knows registration(every year) in the EU...
OK, 2008 is bye bye for the 4g63 motor.
I think Mitsu really screwed this one up. I mean the mighty 4g63 was used since 1990 in the Galants VR-4 then early EVOs.
The new motor is supposed to have 295hp but it's a piece compared to UK specs of the EVO 8 and 9 that came with 300-400HP stock...
1GB Ram in WIN XP with FL open is not enough! My PC with 1GB ram and P4 2.4GHZ HT 800mhz fsb jumps to 60% all the time, and the cpu I'm using is at least 40% faster then yours, so I would think your acts normal.dual chanell DDR 400mhz bus will improve 30-40% overall performance and the cpu...
www.camskill.co.uk sells evo I-III parts.
I'm not aware of a dealer in US selling them, but I know Mitsu dealers ship parts to other dealers, so if anybody works for a Mitsu dealer should speak up! I'm trying to get ahold of Mitsu motors usa to find out what options are out there. Last time I...

I will put togheter soon an "how to identify JDM EVO engines" article because lots of people think they bought evo engines when they actualy got crappy van 4g63 engines.
Nope...not from an 04 Sonata. It is a complete different engine. Engine mounts are different too.
If you want a 2.4L you can find them in the 90-92 Sonatas and Dodge Colt/Vistas.
yeah...sorry I ment the intake ports on the head are different, a little bigger with a different angle, BUT I couldn't tell you much abt the 2G head since I never compared them nor owned a 2g. The E3 intake man might bolt up, you might need the E3 intake man gasket. I'm sure you know that the TB...
The intake runners are different , I know that for sure. Not sure about the exhaust side.
As you can see from the part number list the EVO III cyl. head has a diff part number then the 2g head :)
Also for all of you asking about the EVO III CAMS, YES the intake cam has a different part number...
