I never mentioned welding the front diff. I said I am welding the center diff. There are a couple options that could work in the front diff from quaife, to wavetrac, to TRE's ripgrip... just trying to get a feel for what has been working well for the higher HP autos.

Starting to build a 2G A/T for my drag car and am curious what people are doing for the front differential, if anything. I plan on welding the center diff but curious what others are doing with their front diffs. Car is making over 500hp and 400tq, new engine build will be pushing 50+hp more on...

It depends on comfort and you as a person. Refer to the NHRA guidebook and head positioning.

I built mine out of 3/16" steel plate and and .063 wall 1x1 square tube. Just made individual brackets for each corner of the seat.

Congrats dude! That's impressive! I am in process of setting up my new FP Black on my 1G AWD, would you happen to know what the manual trans record is for a DSM running an FP Black?

Tyler Hassing put his 16g into the low 10s last year, not sure where you have been. I have actually already sold the 16g as I have an FP Black in the garage waiting to be bolted up.

Thanx again Bricktop, and more good info! lol. I never thought of using the F-150 driveshaft and just adding the DSM slip yoke. We have a couple drivetrain shops here in the Fort that I'm sure could tackle that. And yes, aluminum DS for DSM's is ridiculous IMO, there was a thread a little while...

I mesured my 1G today, and I got ~61" +/- .25" from rotor face to rotor face. That is with the car in its resting position and a 1.5" drop.

So I am currently measuring 61" +/- .25" from rotor face to rotor face. So we can assume ~60.5" +/- .25" from hub face to hub face. That leaves the MM axle about 5" too narrow and the 8.8 from an explorer about 1" too narrow. And 1G rear wheels are already pulled in some from the fender line so...

I see... I am going to go measure the width here and do some 9" research. I'll post back with results.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the angles and the linear measurement from the t-case to the axle to extreme to run a true 1 piece driveshaft? Or is that just in the case of the IRS diff and rear exiting exhaust (I will be running side exit for this build).My question is, I guess, what...

So I am wanting to keep the AWD with the solid axle, with the 9" what would I have to do to use the AWD driveshaft set up with that diff. Is there a simple u-joint change or am I going to have to modify the entire end of the driveshft to have to use the larger Ford U-joint?

I'm going to measure that later today but I am pretty positive the MM axle is more narrow than the factory track width.Also, is there an availablility of 5x114.3 bolt pattern hubs for the 9"? Im trying to do some research now to see if there are any.

I read about that build the other night when I was looking for info on how many 1g's have done solid rear axles. Definately insane! The MM ring is about 7.5" which is a bit undersized, my thoughts were that for a build that is pushing only about 600 at the crank, that would have been sufficient...

Revision to this, upon further diagnosis it appears the whole ctr diff is sitting too low in the case causing it to rest on second gear which is what is causing it to shift the one way. Has anyone else seen this problem? There are no shims available for the bearing or race on the ctr diff...

I bought a race trans from a guy and during assembly I have ran into a problem with the bearing race housing not bolting on because the center diff bearing is hitting the race prematurely. I can see that the center diff looks as if it is sitting crooked. I took it back down and notice the TRE...

I would highly suggest a Spec clutch. Great disc options and I pushed mine to 315awhp with amazing streetability! The Spec Clutch Stage 2+ would be a great choice for your set-up.

Those bolts arent even part of the crankshaft, those are in the sprocket for the t-belt...

Pretty much a direct swap, other than the install kit obviously. It does flow significantly more than the t-25 but if you keep the boost lower, you wouldn't have to change a thing.
