These numbers seem to be very close to mine, if I remember correctly. I'm going to hop on my other laptop and try to pull up my last 3rd gear pull when my car was being tuned to see what they are. I'll post mine. Stand by...* Airflow: 44.7 lbs/min
BoostEST: 23.8 (both mechanical boost gauge...
There's a pressure source on your turbo outlet pipe (going to side mount intercooler) that you can hook it up to...same concept. Pressure source>boost controller>w/g actuator.
I live about two hours from Fort Polk, and was stationed there until September 2011 with 2-30 INF in 4/10 MTN. I wouldn't mind driving up on a weekend if you guys plan a meet or something. Lake Charles would be about halfway since I live in Lafayette (or will come July 1st). Keep me updated I'm...
Yea that's what it looks like. I'm about to order a set and ditch my AGX/Sportline setup, blew two of my front shocks in the past 3 months after having them installed since 2009. My car now feels like you're riding a magic carpet going down the highways here.
I have never seen a return setup with a regulator before the injectors. Sounds like a lot of unnecessary work to get the desired fuel pressure "post regulator/pre injectors". Our cars came from the factory with the regulator after the rail, so why go through all of the trouble to change it? I'm...
Yea sounds more like a spun rod bearing than rod knock. Does it get more loud/noticeable after the motor has warmed up? Also, cylinder closest to timing cover is #1...for future reference ;)
If my memory serves me correct, every time I've ever had a blown hose, or even a leak in one...my car has ran hot. Never enough to cause any catastrophic damage, but enough to make my needle go a needle thickness or two past the middle. And it wasn't due to low coolant...as I only had to add a...
I'm almost certain he was referring to having to download drivers for his corresponding apps to work properly. I don't believe he was saying the OP could use ECMlink on a regular ECU to datalog.OP if you have a Palm or know of someone with a Palm, verify that it is working with that setup...
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure the fuel pressure doesn't necessarily drop after the injectors. Think of fluid dynamics. Regardless of where your regulator is mounted...it will control the fuel pressure of what is BEFORE the regulator. If mounted at the end of the rail, the injectors are...
Glowshift makes pretty decent gauges. I've used their mechanical boost gauge before but I can't really vouch for the quality of the electronic gauges/senders. Prosport is another brand you may want to look into that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I will be changing my fuel setup soon and will be...
What do you mean if your regulator is bad? If it's bad it won't hold your fuel pressure with any consistency and/or it's being overran. If you mount it on or before the regulator, yes it will show this.
If you're looking for the diagnosis aspect (i.e. to keep an eye on whether or not your fuel pressure is rising 1:1 with your boost) just get a remote fuel sender for your fuel pressure gauge and mount it inside your car. The placement of your gauge needs to be before the regulator. Currently I'm...
This is a concern of mine...I'm looking for a turbo I can see 500awhp on methanol injection and being advertised at 59lbs/min it raises an eyebrow when I'm seeing such low numbers on dyno charts. I'm also seeing ~20-23ish psi and I'm wanting to run this turbo max-effort. I guess we'll see. I...
I will be following this, with possibly some input, as I'm in the process of getting my car tuned throughout the next week. I'm currently running an FP Green XL and I'll be on 93 octane until I decide on my meth injection. Mods in my profile are current. I should have some feedback hopefully...
Is a SAFC too far out of reach? i don't know of too many people using a maft to tune with. I'd hunt around for a SAFC, zero out everything on the MAFT, and use the SAFC to tune with. If Link is out of the question, definitely at least TRY to go that route.
How many miles are on your car? Yes, I understand your bottom end has been rebuilt but you mention nothing of the head as to whether it's all original or not. Don't rule out valve stem seals. When my 91 GSX had around 95k miles on it I had to replace my seals because it looked like I was trying...
Look for it as thermostat housing gasket. Half the time guys at Auto Zone don't know the proper way to search for our stuff. I was getting a throttle body gasket there and it was under intake section and he kept clicking on stuff for the intake manifold. I was like " noooooo thhhhrrroootttllle...
Five more days and this thread would be exactly 4 years old, but I have to ask if you even read this thread before you posted. This is not me being a troll, I'm just honestly wondering because your question was answered repeatedly prior to your posting. Yes, there is a gasket. It can be found...
They can over time. Update your list, it helps cutting out the second-guessing when trying to help. Here is a good place to start, plus some info on other sensors. There's a dozen threads out there...DSM simple test page
I said "it may not FOR SURE be YOUR issue. I've never run into anything else that made a rattling sound like that of mine (and yours from what I can tell on the youtube vid). I can only give a possible idea based on my experience. As far as cam bearings go, or anything else that has been...
If 350 is your goal, take Wes' advice. A big 16g or MHI EvoIII will treat you nicely. Just worry about supporting fuel mods and something to tune with and you'll be set. Dealing with an HX35 can be a headache, just depends on how much you want to go through to play. One of the most beat to death...
Indeed. This is important because you're going to want to find an "all around" turbo. You don't want one that is too big for your goals. There is a rule that it is better to have too much than not enough. This is somewhat true. But you want to find one that will suit your goal in it's efficiency...
It definitely sounds like the tensioner. I just finished my motor swap in my 1g and that's exactly what it was on mine. I checked the tensioner on my old motor. I was rather upset that I never took the time fix it even though I pushed it aside since I'd be doing my swap soon. Sound somehow...
Does it sound like the rattle goes away above a certain RPM? My 1g does that, a loud rattle from the timing side coming from around the cam pulleys, but then isn't quite as loud after my engine warms up, and seems to go away after about 3k rpms. It's hard to judge the origin of noise, it seems...
Before you do anything with a boost leak test, just go ahead and return all of your fuel parts back to stock. I say this because this is a definite culprit and while a boost leak test will be a tell-tale sign of poor performance, you likely don't have a way to do a boost leak test right off the...
KYB AGXs are not a good strut for a 2" drop. There are numerous cases of them blowing with anything lower than 1-1.5" of drop. Of course I have a 1g but in our case people who are smart will go Koni Yellow with, for example, Eibach Sportline like I have. But I'm about to switch to BC coilovers...
Have you used the "Search" feature at all? There are lot of beginner level things you are asking answers for. Not knocking your methods, the quickest way for a response is to ask it in the forum, so long as it is being viewed by others. Pretty much everything you asked for has been answered...
Hit me up with a PM and explain this company. There's a pretty reliable (one of the most in my opinion) company that has a forward facing housing for under 100 bucks. How much is the one you're speaking of?Those are both nice pieces. What is it you plan on running in the long run? Are you...
Letting us know what turbo you have would be a huge advance in this predicament. The reason I'm saying is because a smaller turbo won't behave the same way a larger turbo will, even at the same boost level. You say the turbo has possibly seen upwards of ~30psi. You can have your boost...
Do you have any blow-by issues with that filter hooked to your valvecover? I have my PCV removed, intake capped off, and fittings on my valve cover ran to catch can. I had some blow-by and ended up with a soaked breather filter after a few months.
Makes sense actually, in my case I had an AEM mechanical boost gauge that was about 3psi off from, YES, in my case also, a boost leak tester. I ended up selling the gauge and bought a Prosport electronic one and I ended up with a sending unit issue, it would sit and zero until and then shoot up...
Are you not in the newb forum yourself, belittling a moderator? To say the least it is pretty bold to assume someone's level of expertise by where they "browse a forum". I was about to compare someone's "level of expertise" by their "rep"...but even that is inaccurate on something as punitive as...
Is your charcoal canister removed? Check all of your EGR hoses, as well as And that's not a bad price for a turbo inlet pipe. Dejon makes some pretty nice pieces, so don't think you're going the cheap route, it was definitely a good choice. Again, as far as your idle problem, take into...
No sweat man. Did you check their site out? Look around, you might be able to find a better deal with another manufacturer, I'll be getting one of their inlet pipes eventually.
Another stock one from a salvage yard...or you can check out Dejontool...they have some pretty nice pieces and can be setup for whatever maf you want to use.
Yes, DSMlink. Is your mod list 100% current? I noticed you don't have any gauges listed..was wondering if you do, how much vac you're pulling when it does idle, and what your AFR is if you have a wideband.
It's fairly easy. Find a coupler to match the size of your turbo inlet, a PVC end cap for pipe, two worm-gear clamps, and an air fitting for a tire. I'm sure there's a write up on here for it. It's going to vary because everyone has their own preference on how to build it. Some even put a...
There's several things you need to check out since you're a new owner for a used car. +1 on boost leak test. Check everything, even if it's not relative to your issue, i.e. plugs, o2 sensor...the car acting up at anything past 1/6 throttle could likely be a MAF issue, mine was doing that until I...
Talk about bringing an old post back after more than a year since the last reply...hopefully if he's still in his build he gets notification that his thread all of a sudden started getting replies after not having any after for so long.
I understand that I'm not a mod on this website, and that it's not my job or responsibility to point things like this out. I also understand this is a newbie area. But can you honestly say that you have searched on what venting a bov is/does? There are more threads than I can count on one hand...
