First off the car is a 92 awd.
I haven't had a dsm in about year but I'm helping a buddy work on his..Long story short the pivot bolt on the front passenger caliper was seized. I managed to get it out but I mangled the bracket in the process. The listing from Autozone and O'Reilly's...
So apparently the alternator bracket when tightened down rubs a little against the power steering pump pulley.
I've never encountered this problem before, and I've changed tons of alternators and PS belts on dsm's before.
Bear in mind: The bracket for the PS pump is on correctly. The pump is...
I don't know about the areas where you guys are but it cost me about 60$ a day for a full trailer from u-haul. Hauled my dsm and a honda on it when I moved in an 05' 1500.
I'm actually running several pipes from a 'universal' kit so the speak.. but honestly after all the measuring I did and cutting (to get the angles perfect to weld) and then having to pay for good welds.. it probably would have been cheaper just to drop money on a VRSF or Punishment Kit. Less...
The big nipple sitting vertically on 4 is for the pcv.
The one they're referring to is right below the multi casting.. cept in the picture there isnt a nipple in it (or its broken off)
Ill be doing several coats.. I'd think the stuff would start to set before was I done. I'm also kinda worried about using a razor and cutting into the paint below.. and I'm worried about a crisp line afterwards.
I am seriously considering doing this on my 02 gt hood like in the image below. The other pic is of my car. Im worried though about how to keep the edges straight on my masking.. [since you guys said it stuck to the tape]Any comments/suggestions?
26. Work with interfacing Inmate Management products in jails w/ Public Safety platforms.Do a LOT of mechanical work on the side (anything that has pistons), have been for several years.
There's nothing wrong with using an safc around a 14b or a 16g platform.Just get something to read your afr's (aka wideband) and make adjustment points from there. There's some really good afc writeup's in the ecu/tuning section that explain how it works.
Not to steal the thunder from the Wideband argument.. but..If you want or have to have an oil pressure gauge, get electronic with the sensor. Hot oil running into the cabin is asking for problems :)
I have the FSM, Chilton's and Haynes.
The Haynes is the worst.Chilton's ftw.. most of the diagrams in it are straight from the FSM.
I think I got my Chilton's used for 99cents off Amazon..
Normally if the water pump is leaking (due to bad/worn bearings) you will leak from the weep hole (on the underside of the pump below the pulley).
Get a good look while its running. Clean everything off. When it warms up you should be able to see it bubbling if the water pump isn't sealed right...
Sure you don't have a small fuel leak somewhere (maybe intermittent)?
Especially in the area around the timing cover (fuel rail return)..I actually had an unknown leak from the o-ring on my AN adapter from the rail and caught my wires on fire right near the timing cover..
Not even joking.. if you're gonna get an oil pressure gauge get a full electronic one. You'll thank yourself in the end so you aren't running hot oil into the cabin. I'm sure if you search the forums you'll find more than one horror story about this.
Autometer's mechanical boost gauge is tried...
I have rubber going to nylon and then the gauge.
the nylon line was almost a perfect fit sliding into the rubber hose.Requires to careful use of just a little 5minute epoxy to make a perfect seal.
To those that are saying the HG is blown.. I'm pretty sure those numbers are in the acceptable variance range. Just gives you something to know going down the road you have some wear and tear going on in that cylinder.
As far as the turbo goes Id be willing to bet if the center housing was indeed cracked you'd have some visual indicator of such with the car running (i.e. smoking in the area of the turbo or a blatant leak from such). But all that turbo stuff is irrelevant since it has a very small chance of...
Fair warning..If that's the type of controller that runs a vacuum hose in cabin to the controller (and not like the hallman style cockpit controller with a mechanical wire+sheath) you run a major risk of boost spiking.
I've had this happen.. twice. One of the nifty little things I found on the DSM when I got it a few years ago.
Oh, and snapped off water pump bolts. And a snapped off carrier bearing axle bolts. I actually wonder if the guy used an impact on everything..
I'm a pro at getting broken bolts out...
You told us your budget, and they gave you the best cost efficient method.. which was the get a 4g63.The master rebuild kit with you doing the labor is the cheapest method. Can't be more than a few hundred bucks with some standard machining needed. But the biggest concern that you need to...
Normally I don't advocate ebay stuff.. but..My DSM came with an HKS knockoff catback.. its been through 2 years of winters here and still together.5years ago I bought a kyo ebay exhaust for my s13. It too fit perfect and held up the same..
If you want acoustic riffs I can provide them in wma format.I can do electric but apparently the interface unit doesn't like too much gain or distortion..
Most of your standard struts are going to blow with aggressive springs.. They're always compressed and can never fully extend.
[You can even read the warnings from KYB (our OEM strut supplier) that they place ON the AGX's/GR2's etc.. stating not to use with them springs.]OR.. you could save...
If you would have put in the prep time and did it correctly you wouldn't have had issues.
I've repainted my valve cover, cam cover and intake manifold with rustoleum high heat (the 500+ degree stuff) and even repainted the valve cover, twice, with NO issues.Exactly how I did it:Step 1...
Switching to turbo pistons is gonna be a pretty good loss n/a. (way lower comp. ratio.)
To switch pistons the right way you need to pull the motor and at the very least cylinder hone.Pull the head with the manifolds attached. Much easier.
Sadface at those taillights.Don't give in to the bs floating around. Nothing wrong with wanting to learn things yourself. Just beware youre working with a less forgiving platform than the alternative.
Just an FYI:My car would overheat with two 12" slim fans (unshrouded).Tried everything, installed stock fan with shroud, overheating gone.
Moral is some slim fans suck.
Sell it.Youll regret it..but if you don't have the time, money, place or knowledge to do it yourself (and do it right) just bite the bullet and get another down the road when you recover.GL!
Lets say you set the hi-point @ 70%.
-That means @ 70% throttle the AFC will use your hi throttle map.Lets say you set the lo-point @ 30% throttle.
-That means @ 30% throttle the AFC will use your low throttle map.If the TPS reads 50%, the AFC compensates and uses the averages of the hi and...
I don't really thing a little extra rtv up there is going to cause failure..I've been rtv'ing valve covers for years instead of gasketing. And yes, the rubber ones are reusable.
