Sweet! I totally missed the no Vortex generator and wheel color. I prefer the MR wheels, no amount of brake dust makes them look dirty FTW.Are you going to track or DD it?
I don't know how low your summer ambient temps are but I've boiled PS fluid on a upgraded SMIC 16G setup. Think about getting a good cooler too if you run it on more than autoX. I'm not being critical it's just one of the issues I've had when tracking my 1G.I'm still waiting for my first...
Pretty much a 50/50 mix of Mobil 1 10w30 and 20w50. You can't get their 20w50 anymore I believe but you can get a heavier weight extended fill oil from them. I've been reading that Mobil 1 has reduced the quality of their base stock again. So I'm thinking about switching to straight Redline...
I still see 260*F pre oil cooler with 100*f+ ambient during trackdays. Which is down significantly from the 270*F+ I initially saw after my new engine, IC, and turbo went in. I've done a lot to get the temps down wrapping DP(a little help), wrap the oil filter(not a noticeable improvement)...
If you aren't going to keep the ball joint then just get real aggressive with the picklefork and hand sledge. I remember when I did mine it was real tight and reluctant after a dozen years of coastal living.
A sandwich adapter puts the oil filter really close to the downpipe on a DSM. Bigger the the pipe the closer it comes. I've gone back to a 2.5" O2 eliminator DP for that reason.
That's just a lower arm brace. Evo has bars stock, a more complicated brace is available from Tanabe, Cusco and others. RRE offers a lower bar for 2G and as stated they believe the 1G is well braced in that area.
Every street tire will go off when really pushed. Certainly the MXs do, I've run many sets. It's a good value tire, not good but not scary in the rain. I don't know which RE050A the OP runs but if it's the original type(discontinued) and not the Pole Positions you could definitely get more...
I'm not up to speed on NHRA reg but from what I remember talking to drag guys the sub 11 second cage is designed to protect a cat that goes over once or onto it's side and skids down the track. With no provision for side impact from another car. The road race cage is designed for going over...
Damn! More instructors than intermediate and novice drivers combined. That's the risk with winter trackdays, most everyone holds out until there is a good readout on the weather.
My DSM was down for an extended period when I first bought my Evo. The first highway corner I hit hard when I put my GSX back together, I thought "Damn this thing is floppy!"I'm hoping a bolt in cage will even it out with the Evo. I don't think any small gusseting or reinforcement will help...
Immediately visible in an RS trunk(because it has no carpeting), behind the seats under the parcel shelf has big crossbraces linking right in front of the shock towers. And at the extreme rear, a RS exclusive brace runs under the mats. And pulling the seat it seems like there are a lot of seam...
That's where my oil cooler is on the drivers side. When I get around to ducts I'll use a headlight inlet through the washer bottle hole on the driver side and a simple duct on the passenger fog light area.I'd thought about a NACA where that vent is but there's just not enough room with a...
I'm probably going to get the first one pictured above, I think it's usually called either B1 or Bomber style. I really don't need more intercooler opening I need more airflow to my oil cooler so I can safely run through the 100+ degree heat during summer trackdays. Add a front splitter to...
In this thread of plans for the off season: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=151035847&postcount=6I was going to:1. return the car to stock for biannual smog due in Dec. I swear on everything this is absolutely the last time I'm going to do this. I'll probably need a new TB to...
The Buick uses a 90deg V6 and the Fiero 2.8 is a 60deg v6, so I suspect there would be some fitment issues. It's funny about the Caterham/Seven because I always thought that would be an insane platform for the 4G63. Along with swapping one into a Mighty Max.
All those parts contain fuel by itself and under pressure. Not a tank with air and fuel sloshing around giving the fuel a good chance to atomize. If you try and pressurize a tank of any useful size you're going to run into fp failures quick even assuming you can find a cell that can be...
If it's the same car listed by your screen name then you do not have a solid rear axle. If you were in a 1G FWD then you have a solid rear like a k-car or minivan. They might have assumed without looking you were FWD, so go somewhere else. I hope they didn't charge you!It could be either a...
Mike's standard springs were 400f/350r hypercoils. If he had a specific ride height for drag cars he never told me. He was always big on not lowering the fronts below the roll center, I think it was 14.5" from wheels center to fender lip. A lot higher than most setups.
They are the same calipers. You can use Mitsu calipers on Subarus and vice versa. The only difference I noticed was the pins on STI brembos have a cotter pin and Mitsu doesn't.
Evan from the pics it looks like you haven't replaced your CF hood yet?I may have it even better than you since I'm able to easily reach Willow Springs also. But Reno and TH are a long slog from me. I really need to get a tow rig.Are you going to do the TEAM event at Reno this year? It...
No I misunderstood the classing basis from what I had read on the other TT thread. I wouldn't look nearly as bad as I thought I would. But I don't think I'm going to be doing any TT this year.I have a dual BB turbo with a 20G sized output. Spools like a B16G.:thumb:
Anyone have insight into where the non OEM turbo with a sane power:weight is going to fall? Say a 10:1?Are they really going to do a case by case basis with the regional director ruling?
http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12324&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40http://www.shedracing.net/tt_rules07--v4.2.pdfMaybe I should TT my Evo and daily drive my Eclipse:(
http://www.norcalevo.net/forum/index.php/topic,13499.0.htmlEvo with spacer and running 5zigen FN01R-C. Generally the need for longer studs is for running a spacer and weird offset wheels.
I'll second the ARP studs being a better choice. I have a few acquaintances who have busted the RRE kyo studs on track, one a catastrophic 5 studs and lost a wheel somewhere above 80mph mid corner at Thunderhill.
Maybe you should say the same thing to them that some of them said when you voiced your opinion on dynoing the turbo cars:"There's always HPDE if you don't like it"
Well that pretty much precludes my participation for at least the 07 season. I guess the concept of tuning without a dyno is lost on them. If they ruled everyone should dyno it may be more fair but I still wouldn't be able to run.
