well i reaplaced the starter and its still making some really bad crunching noise. i belive it to be the flywheel now and that it appeared the starter was moving the opposite direction because it would slip on the flywheel and the motors compression would push it the opposite way when this...
well i just got done changing my timing belt and i took it on a test drive to make sure everything was fine. while waiting at a stoplight the car died. so now im like wtf? i go to start it thinking it just freaked out and turned off but there was no power at all. nothing turned on so i just...
check the clutch safety switch. i dont know how the 2g's are setup but on my 1g the rubber peice on the clutch broke off and didnt touch the switch. its easy to check and if you have to just unplug it and see if that solves the problem. maybe a shot in the dark but it could be an easy fix...
well im moving to phx soon. and im just trying to see who all is out there and what you guys are up to. like meets etc. seems like the dsm spot is in and out. sounds good because i love 4x4's with well done frys. :thumb:
ok, so im really lazy and dont feel like reading the whole thred right now.
my car is now up and runnung thanks to a mint condition 1g that i castrated at the junkyard. it had a 14b with manifold with absolutly no cracks or shaftplay! :thumb:but anyways, this is the 1st right? is there...
hey, i would love to dyno my car. its just not possible for me on the 20th. im all for helping a good dsm shop and keeping them open. and being able to help a fellow dsm'er tune their ride and moral support.actually, does anyone have a good condition 14b or good condition 16g in the area for...
well im my case im not scared or embarresed to dyno at all, its the fact that my 14b turned itself into an oil pump. otherwise i would have no problem going and getting a dyno done.if this just doesnt happen then there is always ways to set up a BBQ meet or something. just everyone go hang...
Couldnt you just get a wet of 950's or whatever you feel like. and if you ever start flirting with the limits of them add a secondary injection system with another set of 950's? this would keep drivability and give you plenty of fuel when you need it?
i see now. i didnt know that they used a certain type of metal for the whole run of wire. it would just throw the guage off by who knows how much. i made that diagram from the understanding that they work similar to a water temp type sensor. so with a thermocoupler it would be really...
i dont think anyone can/will give you a clear answer. its one of those it will go out, who knows if tomorrow, or next year. just do as you please with the car until you get your motor ready.
if you want quiet while crusing etc but loud at WOT then just get an apexi n1 muffler and but the ats silencer. http://www.autocarparts.com/parts/Exhaust/Silencers/Apexi/
about the resistance to the system thing, thats why i said that if a simple relay doesnt add any resistance then my diagram will work. otherwise you would need to find some other way do dissconnect and reconnect the thermocoupler from the guage without interupting the reading.im going to try...
honestly that is the easy fix, just get an afc, dsm link or any other tuning device to lean out your a/f. all your going to do is screw something up if you try and do it any other way. and no they are not useless when you allready have a custom chip. it can take you farther on top of the chip...
honestly i dont want to sound like an ass or anything, but the ammount you pull out isnt going to be critical. this isnt going to even feel like a difference except for the fact that you eliminated a boost leak. honestly just do it and keep it if you like it and it works. this isnt like...
ok since your a super sience geek as you put it. do you know if a 12dc spst relay will add anyresitence or change the voltage of a line? im to lazy to go rip apart the garage to find one of the spare ones and get my volt meter. if it doesnt change the signal line's voltage at all then my diagram...
well heres a really quick schematic of what i was thinking. but from what was said about the thrermocouplers i highly doubt this would work this way. the relays in the circut would obstruck the voltage (slightly) more than likely and creating an inacurate reading. ill read up on the...
well how does the sensor send the signal to the guage? is it basically a resistor that changes resitance to different temperatures and the guage senses the voltage and reads it accordingly?if you you can just make a kind of control box that with some relays changes the sensor the guage is...
you can hook it up to and boost source that is before the throttle body but after the compressor housing (obviously) so the j pipe, the intercooler just before the tb, anywhere you choose. doesnt matter hot or cold side.
does is sound like a light scraping more or less? or is it more like a shudder? a shudder being like (. . . . . . . .) and scraping being more constant (.... .... ... .. .... .....) type sound? or is it completely constant?i do know my trans has a scraping sound that is fairly...
If i remember correctly its to help the BOV actuate quicker. and your not suppose to plug it, your suppose to leave it open. bad things can happen if you plug it.Hooking the bottom nipple to an intercooler pipe puts pressure on the bottom of the diaphram. and so does the top one (intake mani...
well than sucks. how many spots do you need to fill? Also a suggestion, the prices seem a little steep for the non turbo/stock psi guys. i know i wouldnt want to pay 80 bucks to just get a basline.i wonder if you adjusted your prices a little more accordingly it might encourage more people to...
change of plans for me possibly. i have the money in hand right now for a evo 3 16g. depending on how fast SBR can ship it out i could have it early next week. so if all goes according to plan i should be able to get the car there.if not ill bum a ride off testicle :palso anyone local...
well its not installed yet but i have the muffler im going to be using and then having 3" pipe done up for a turbo back. and the price of the muffler was right too, cant beat free OMG
actually no you dont need backpressure. what you are talking about is scavenging, which is a result of high velocity gasses. this is a direct result of pipe sizes, not backpressure. backpressure is a side effect from smaller pipe and other restrictions. If you take the time to read the thread...
lol i get what you guys are saying. its just i guess different strokes for different folks.even without a true ventalation system it would still accomplish the same goal :thumb:besides its not like this is one of those things that is going to save mankind if your crankcase can vent...
it should be fine as long as you tighten down the one thats left. on mine i ran for about 2 months with only 1 bolt in the starter with zero problems. needless to say i have 2 bolts in it now i was just lazy thats all.
hmm, also does california happen to know that the human ear only hears sound changes in 3DB incriments? :thumb:well yes we all know california sucks. if it isnt you cand modify your car. you cant own certain guns. you cant do this bs. and then to top it off the cops "interpret" the law...
eh, those mods in my opinion arent really worth it for the most part.cam gears only bring slight benifits after tuning.
TB only brings benifits if the engine needs more air then the stock TB can flow (i dont know 420a numbers so i cant say for sure if it would help or not)
underdrive...
make sure you check for vacume leaks. that can cause funky idle and cause it to die.also run a compression test on it just to make sure the headgasket seated and all that jazz. ive had it happen before where the headasket didnt seat and it would die at idle and stop signs but would run if i...
exactly, but we all know nothing is perfect so pressure does build up inside the crankcase.think of it like you said, attach a line to a container. now press down on the lid and let go. that is more or less the way the crankcase is because nothing is perfect. if it was perfect you wouldnt...
if you plan on doing it again just get some moly grease next time. the stuff works greak for anything like that, also trans fluid isnt really the same as grease. it could work i would assume, but you could have torn/deformed your seal when you put it in causing the slow leak. so i would suggest...
all that looks like is a different way of doing the same thing. also did you try looking at the installation manual (haynes/chiltons) on replacing the seal? you would think they would say how deep the seal needs to go and the right way of getting it in to ensure a complete seal.
dont worry i come from an econo box NA background also :Pthe biggest thing i see on lower hp NA engines (and most likely hgh output ones also) is not really the backpressure but the flow.think of it this way if you run open header once the exhaust gets out of the header what happens to...
most california stations are full of retards. i dont have any recomendations on a nor cal shop but i know a bunch of shops in visalia that will pretty much let you pass as long as you pass the sniffer. and dont have any crome intake pipes and stuff. (unless carb sticker bs)they dont really...
lol, i used a bunch of jb welb on it. needless to say after awhile it just well cracked and the plug fell out one day.bought another and used rtv and it fell out the same day.now the whole damn whole is filled with jb weld type stuff. (dont remember exactly what it was) but i just filled in...
actually its should still work just fine but in a different way.in the stock setup it sucks ait through a system. vac source sucks air from crankcase. then the crank case sucks air from the intake. making a nice ventilation system. keeping the crankcase free from pressure. (the whole point)...
