I’ve read countless past threads related to wheel clearance on brembos and wider tire sizes on 2g’s. It takes hours to sift through most of the information and a lot of the set ups are not clear on what exactly people are running.I am curious, for those of you running 255‘s or wider and have...
I am aware of the differences in control arms and body. I know what offset I am going to need to run in order to clear the body lines and knuckle on a 2g. I am worried about the calipers because of wildly different spoke designs on wheels that can cause major clearance issues for the brakes...
Well if this is true that really throws a wrench in things for me. I appreciate the input as I have been tackling this for a while.I am still confused though. Here is a PM I sent to an EVOm member almost two years ago asking the same question and here is his response. Now you can see why I am...
Hmm.. interesting. I know EVOm guys have confirmed RPF1's clear the front Brembos with as high as a +38(talked to four members that used them) and +35's are common with them also. Is there something I am missing that won't make them clear Brembos on a DSM with Galant knuckles?
What are specs on the RPF1's? Width and offset? What tires? Do you have 2gb GSX rear knuckles?EDIT: Sorry for my somewhat redundant questions but I have been tackling which offset RPF1's to get for 3 months now. I need to clear the EVO Brembos but also do not want my wheel/tire combo sticking...
If it is a track day/time attack car or even autocross this site will tell you much of what you need to know.Autocross to Win (DGs Autocross Secrets) - SuspensionThis may be helpful too.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/handling-tech/320763-spherical-bearings-2g.html...
I only see a difference of $10 between both websites. Notice on your second link you have to buy them in sets of "2" which makes the total $310 vs $320 for your first link.
I have always called them turnbuckles. They sell cheap ones at Tractor Supply and you could probably buy nice stuff online. Here are examples of cheap ones.http://www.tractorsupply.com/turnbuckles/This place sells the aluminum turnbuckle bodies which if you had standard rod ends you could...
The retarded width hole is the factory width of a 2gb Talon front bumper. It has just been extended up. What I think is retarded about the front end was the stupid stencil Dejon Tool put on his FMIC's waaaaaay back in the day. The lettering has been gone since just a couple days after taking...
Ughhhh... Is there anything more unsettling than a mushy brake pedal?Anyway, please keep us updated on what you find out. I have the setup in boxes ready to install when my chassis gets to that point.
AgreedROFLBut joking aside. I saw a 2g NT at a junk yard when I was looking for interior pieces. Both strut towers had tape covering rust holes and then were painted over red to attempt to hide the problem. Probably the reason it was in the junk yard to begin with.
I have seen it at Lowes, Home Depot, Menard's and Ace Hardware. I am sure you can find it elsewhere too.EDIT: Here is a link showing where you can buy it.http://www.plastidip.com/diy_where_to_buy.php
Sorry to clutter up your post. I found the answer(Thanks Turbosax2). It is here if anyone else is curious.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/402040-omron-relay-broke.html
Blurred Talon. I bought my engine bay harness online and have one connector that I have not been able to identify easily. Since I do not have my car in front of me and it appears your harness is well labeled I was hoping you could help. The connector is the 3 wire connector pictured(the...
Nice gloves! Messing with these harnesses is nastier than working on a DSM with a bad oil leak. Some of the black crap that comes off I swear is permanent.I will have to look into those tools. Where did you get them? I could actually see those being more useful than the small screw driver set...
I started doing work on my fusebox/engine bay harness about a week ago. I have some pictures that show how to remove the pesky retainers in the back of the fuse box and also some pictures that will show how to de-pin all the connectors on that harness. If you have any problems or think you...
Did you verify the step height for yourself? If not, it is possible for it to be off. I have seen in numerous times even after the shops were told exactly what the step height should be.
Whats wrong with pulling the engine? It can be done in a few hours and makes pulling the front case and redoing the timing belt much easier. You could service the oil pump with the engine in the car but I ask why. If the car has no balance shafts then maybe I would consider it. With balance...
Pull the connectors going to the ECU and inspect them for damage(look at the connector from the side that plugs into the ECU). I had a vehicle that did a similar thing to yours. Someone was apparently trying to switch the pins on the ECU harness connectors and damaged the connector pretty bad...
Stock ignition can do 600whp with plugs gapped low (.018 ish). Some people have had luck gapping slightly higher but it seems most are around .018 or even lower. With the dis-2 you will be fine gapped right around stock specs. Good luck with the build.PS: I highly recommend the T3 housing...
Well I suppose you could get lucky. Either way I would not sell it for 500 because taking off the parts I listed and some other misc things will net you more money than that.
I would continue parting it out. The bumpers and tails are worth money. The black interior fetches a premium. Probably get atleast 200 for the wheels if the tires are good like you say. 1k for a car missing a whole door, has absolutely no drivetrain(except driveshaft) and a rebuilt title is a...
I am not sure when they were bought out but I want to say a few years ago. My buddy at Batteries Plus would know. And yeah companies get bought out and quality goes down. Ever heard of Gateway computers? Just one example off the top of my head. Not great comps to begin with but man did they get...
Yeah it's extremely common to hear what you just said. If I had the luxury to drive my talon regularly or have it on a battery tender I would definately run an Optima. I like the idea that they are sealed and will not leak liquids which other batteries can do.
The car sits because I race it in the summer and it sits for the other 6 months in Ohio when the weather is shitty. Getting the battery out of my battery box in the trunk is a royal pain in the ass and a two person job. I also am not going to run a 30' extension cord from the one garage to where...
Yeah perhaps some should research on how they work. I am a mechanical engineering major and need no explanation on how batteries or electrical systems work. My beef is with an overpriced battery with cells that crack and are ruined after dying and sitting where standard batteries will die and...
I have noticed no difference in driveability using colder vs. hotter plugs on gasoline. I did however switch to hotter plugs when running E85 because of cold start issues. If you are on gasoline and running higher boost colder plugs are fine and I recommend them.
It actually doesn't go for any kind of battery. I have used DieHards and autozone batteries that have sat and been killed numerous times and they come back every time. My last DieHard finally wouldn't take a charge after being killed nine times if my memory serves me correct. And who said...
Both companies make excellent quality regulators. I personally use FuelLab because of the color combinations they offer. You can't go wrong with either IMO.
I have been through 2 Optima red tops. Both of them sat in a car that wasn't driven for about half a year. Came back they were dead and would not take a charge over 7 volts. Basically, if you drain a red top one time from letting it sit then good luck getting the battery to ever recover via a...

Wow, another Precision bites the dust. I feel better and better by the day that I bought a HTA3586 instead of the 6262. I know they make amazing power but I am seriously starting to question PTE's quality.
My journal 6169SP died before it even hit 7k miles. Always ran at 30-31psi. I will never buy a journal PTE turbo again after reading all the horror stories and my personal experience. I do hear good things about their ball bearing units.
Wow nice gas mileage. I get about 220 mi/tank but I am running E85 and 1600's . Almost makes me want to switch back to gas, but then again 34 + psi and no knock when ever I want to floor it is too tempting.
Watch the orientation of the oil drain for the turbo. It appears to be clocked a good amount off vertical. I have seen turbos with center sections clocked like that and they have pushed a good amount of oil through the seals. I really takes almost no restriction in the drain to cause a turbo to...
You did not read my post very thoroughly obviously. You claimed 2 points change in a/f is not very much. I was stating that 2 points on WOT is huge and will cause a noticeable difference. I ALSO said that 2 point a/f in between shifts usually causes a stumble(notice the word usually). If your...
Im really not sure what the OP thinks he is trying to prove. Apparently he thinks he has come up with some new controversial mod. Listen it is 2009. A simple search on ANY dsm forum would have showed people have been doing this since before 2003 and it works great for some and others not so...
I just picked up a 95 Talon AWD with crankwalk. The car runs fine and makes not noises except when you push in the clutch you can hear a very faint metallic clicking noise and the engine stalls. Im not exactly sure why everyone thinks their car is walking when its making any kind of...
1000's is what I would go with and they will be more than adequate for you. They are cake to tune with DSMLink and they will take you further than the 850's if you do decide to upgrade turbos again after the 20g.
I was referring to the two larger holes that are obviously missing the sensors. It was my mistake, I didnt realize in my first two posts that Mindset had circled those small holes in black. That is why I corrected myself in my previous post before someone rubbed it in;) I know the picture I...
Whoops. I thought he was talking about larger threaded holes with the obvious sensors missing. It pays to look at the black circle that I missed the first time through :ohdamn:Good catch;)
