Well my car was smoking when at idle and sometimes when i accelerated, plus car at 4k sounds like i have a turbo when i don't. I paid 1500 for it and car was sitting for a year. I did a tune up(wires plugs filters battery and all that). Flushed cooling system. After all that it was still smoking...
when you say it is unhooked do you mean it as the pedal is on the floor but the clutch itself is still up all the way? If manual trans the clutch has to be disengaged to start the car?

No the fuel pump is what takes the fuel from the tank to the engine.....How far in you have the nozzle or don't have the nozzle will cause that...used to happen on my car if i did not put the pump nozzle in all the way.And welcome(just noticed it is in the post above also...submitted...
Ya i would check the wire to make sure it is all running properly.....other than that it sounds like your filter is clogged or there may be build up in your injector....maybe try to add some of the injector cleaner to your gas tank. Hope you get it figured out.
Check your positive cables.....use a multimeter and see where the voltage loss is.Also check out some of these threadshttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1361712Hope this helps out a bit.

The lights an car dying sounds like the alternator, but the belt part could be it was not tight. or the tensioner was loose causing the belt to come off (or be entirely to loose). If the belt was not on right that could have caused your problem.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129875Hope this helps out a bit...if not do antenna in the search and there are some more posts about how to change it out.
It sounds like you have a bad alternator or it is on its way. Would check that first.here is a link to other posts on electrical and power problems and solutions.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1355123
Sounds like there is a chance you will have to sink a lot of money into it...if you are going to use it as a daily driver i would say sell it for a decent price and buy a more reliable car...not knowing anything about it makes the possibilities endless. Just my opinion....car could need minor...
kinda hard to say could be a number of things.....dad always told me to run a bar of soap on it while it is running. Used to stop it on the old cars. Could be a bad bearing...when you say everything is new...what is everything?
Could be just your head gasket or something of that nature. Probably not rings if the smoke is gone. Could be the gasket on the turbo also. Just something to look at before spending huge bucks on new parts.if that is not much help here is a link to some post on that topic....there is a few...
White smoke means coolant is passing by. Could be headgasket.....could be your turbo.here is a link to several post about the same issues. hope this link helps a bit. some good info in some of the threads.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1346603
check the classified section...lot of cars being parted out there....other than that if no one can come through for you there is always the junkyard. Bolts are not expensive from there.
To find out if work has been done, the dealer will tell you as they said.........for one of the many places to look and see if there are or what should have been done on your car here is a link.http://www.alldata.com/recalls/index.html
vice grips work great.........If area is clean enough(no flamable fluids) you can take a propane torch to the housing for the bolt till it gets a little red and the bolt should come right out(turn easy that is). Is how i used to get the stubborn bolts off my axles on the jeep.
As for the accelerating it could be your throttle cable.....other than that i must admit i don't know much about the turbos.
here is a link to several posts about boost problemshttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1341051For the battery i would have your alternator...
Well my first trip to the junkyard this week turned up a lot of nothing useful. They dropped another car on the parts i needed......I found a 92 talon, and a 90 talon so i tried to check out the filler hose....one was not there at all and the other had a nice hole in it. So no luck yet sorry. I...
I would try to go to the junkyard. I plan on going soon to look for a new door. I will check to see if there are any laying around if so i will pm so you can give me mailing info. Free of charge since part wont be that much to ship. I have seen a few 1g's down there so i hope they are still...
What color is the smoke? (oh ya stupid question but did the plugs get gapped properly?)If smoke is white, car is passing antifreeze/water.
If smoke is blue, car is passing oil.
if smoke is black, car is burning too much fuel.also here is a link about missfires. several pages on this...
Is the starter grounded properly?the terminal that connects to the battery may be tight on the battery but is the wire going to it completely attached or is it comming out. Any corrosion? Alternator or starter could be bad. I would check your fuses and if they are all good it is probably...
should be able to get one from the dealer..not sure how much it cost but was like 20 or so i think..Can always go to toyland(junkyard) and pick one up. They wont charge that much for one.
Have you changed your spark plugs recently. If not can try that. If you have make sure the wires are in the right spot, wrong firing order can cause it to missfire but run. Could also be a fuel feed problem...might need a new fuel filter, or pump. May also be the alternator...May not be charging...
Can go to dealer and ask them to print one out for you. Or you can go to a local parts store and buy a haynes or chiltons book. They usually have all the breakdowns for you. Not sure if there are any on line. If i find one i will repost it.
which manual do you have I got the chiltons' and it has all the wire diagrams in it. Not sure if haynes has on in it or not. ? But can get those at any car parts store. Just make sure it says on the front or back that it has the diagrams in it.
