I didnt actually buy them yet, but looking at the crower stage 1 cams. With a p&p head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and an oem gst catback. I figured with that put together, I'm hoping at least to break into the high 15 sec range.
Yeah locally the pricing starts around 1200+ at the salvage yards and for long blocks with 100k+ mileage. I do often check out 2gnt, but honestly I don't even like their forum set-up or the typical, "It's so easy, pick up a manual" responses, seeing as how I don't have a garage, tools nor the...
If you know of any links/sites that sell 420A motor cheaper than 1000$ it would be helpful.I guess turbo is outta the question. As far as N/A, cam'd head, intake manifold, normal bolt -on's, well be okay with the stock bottom? If i can get a 420a long block cheap than I can dump $$ into a...
I WANT to turbo it in the future, but I just recently bought a 2000 325i and it's my leisure car. This talon is mainly my daily commute to work 60+ miles a day. I just wish to really get the water pump, timing belt, head gasket and intake manifold gasket replaced, just so I'm not stranded one...
In the process of purchasing a fresh 420a head from concept illusions, stock w/ a purchase of mild cams, p&p and angle job. I'm mainly going to do it cause I wish to get the head gasket replaced and also the timing belt replaced. I plan to keep the block where it's at, 190k+ miles on it, smart...
That's cool. I can mildly do mechanical work but I don't have the time to do so. I can always get more money, it's just that my fiance just had a baby, so time is very precious to me. I'm always willing to drop my car off somewhere to have work done. The block itself has now 190k + miles, i...
Hey im in the SoMD but i work in NoVA, now that I got my bimmer, i can get some down time with my 95 n/t talon. It currently has 180k+ mileage looking to rebuild but I'm unexperienced in the area.. looking for someone/shop who is able to rebuild with also swapping my head with a mildly built one...
I tried to research but no luck, probably tired after work..eh..but..I'm rebuilding my 420a soon, just for the sake of wanting to keep my 95 420a talon alive.
currently 180k+ miles and running.. major rear main seal leaks, oil pan leaks, horrible idle surge ( haven't fully gone thru the DIY...
Taken all proper procedures where done with replacing the cap also, and making sure the fluid is full and no air pockets, could possibly be a water pump issue.
I have them on my 2ga with stock struts with 178k miles on the struts. Very soft and bouncy ride. It's a very noticable drop but still with a tad bit of wheel well gap. for my vehicle it doesnt bottom out that much but i had the bump stops cut off. I hit a bump real hard and fast ( 70+ ) and...
I think the ebay ones usually are just an empty space. I too have been looking everywhere for the 2gb talon bumper.. junkyard around my way wants 400$ for one..its crazy..
I want to do the same, but is there a way to pry the letters off? or do u have to sand everything down? I wanted to tint it darker but keep a slight redness and then tint the yellow turn signals a lil darker too.
Def. make sure the valve cover and the head where the gasket meets is clean, clean, clean and smooth as possible. I used a parts washer for the valve cover and red rags with steel wool to clean the mating head portion.
Agreed to above posts. In the mean time ive been using thicker oil with additives with/or lucas treatment and it reduced my consumption by around 40-60 percent.
Like stated in above posts, o2 cel's cause hooorrrible gas mileage as well, to my knowledge and experience, egr problems that may or may not cause a cel. As well as, also stated in above posts, simple things as making sure the air filter is clean, spark plugs, fuel filter, and a simple induction...
So even just replacing the valve train with OE parts, i shouldnt worry about? Not really experienced with anything inside of a longblock, but i don't plan to stage the head or anything just perhaps attempt to replace at least valve seals and clean up the head a little.
Check into your cv axles as stated above. Check to see for rips or leaks both inner and outer boots. Check for tie rod play also.Usually a quick way to check for bad shocks is the give the car a good push down and see if it bounces like crazy or only around 2 bounces. If you had all...
Lol. I read your profile, are those the only mods? Ill have to do more research when i get off from work. It looks like your throwing down nice numbers and 1/4 times N/A.
Most people will say upgrade your injectors along with a AFPR anyways. I do believe if you are trying to squeeze everything out, an AFPR would be recommending, by my opinion.
From what ive been reading, a nice upgrade path would be taking the cat back from a turbo version. I personally would like get an catback from a gst, for my esi, and swap the axle-back with a magna-flow muffler. What's your budget?
Just curious about everyone with a 420a motor, their current mileage and any major issues since they first bought the car. (ie. timing belt snapping, spunt bearings, blown tranny..etc. )I bought mines a year ago with 150k, and i was looking thru the previous owners service records and he...
Thats why i was asking earlier if it was possbile to just build the head. I figured I could pick up a spare head and build on that. I read a previous thread, not sure at tthe moment, about rebuilding a motor prior to turboing the 420a. It stated honning, piston rings, bearings and let the bottom...
I figured most people just painted them with high temp stuff, rather then removal. I would assume all heat shields on an exhaust system serve some type of purpose? It's just annoying when shields get loose and rattle..very very embarassing.
I had a similiar situation, it wouldnt stay on during idle, but i had alot of draw from gauges that are wired to glow with the key on and an amp running with key on too. Although it died during idle i had no problem acceleration wise.
The answer to all your questions is no. It's a non turbo, I dont believe putting injectors or a turbo ecu is gonna work. You need more air to compensate for the bigger injectors ( like a turbo?) and fuel management to actually dump more fuel.. The current ecu is still going to send the same...
Yeah, whens the last time you replaced your acc. belt? I had an acc belt squeel and i kept tightening and tightening, and it never stopped until i replaced it.
I have a 2 inch drop on my talon. The negative camber is more noticeable in the rear but its not as bad as other vehicles i had with lowering springs that dropped the car less than 2 inches.
Regardless if a battery goes dead after charging all day, needs to be replaced. With all that you stated that was replaced, perhaps its time you consider a possible problem with your fuel delievery?Once the car starts, the alternator takes over majority of the electrical load. A bad battery...
You tried giving it gas during start-up? Any back fire during start up and dying? With the key-on can you hear the fuel pump at any point? It could possibly be the fuel pump or even the fuel filter.
I currently have a 95 ESI, of course with the 420a motor. It has around 175k miles on it. Not too worried about power right now, just trying to keep it alive. I DO however in the near future build a turbo kit for it. In the mean time, would building the whole long block be in my best interest...
