  1. dried coolant?

I would think that it would be cleaned if it were hot tanked. Also I would be a little scarred if a freeze plug comes out easily.
  2. Big loss of power and a ticking noise.

JB weld is a waste of time. If I were you I would hook boost guage directly to turbo and test drive. If you get a good boost reading or a high reading then the turbo is probably fine and you have a boost leak problem. If it is a 0 to low reading directly off the turbo then you have a bad turbo...
  3. Why won't it run?

If I were you, I would go to the junk yars and get a stock maf and intake tube. Put everything back to stock and start there. Just connect the two airflow wires that were going to the safc.
  4. At My Witts End (Please Help)

Smoking all the time, kinda low vacume, and if a lot of air coming out of oil cap hole leads me to think serious blow by. Do a wet compress test and see if your # shoot up.
  5. Coolant temperature issues

This is a very heplful sight, but sometimes questions come up that a mitsu themselves would need to answer. I like many people have gone through extended lengths to get lower coolant temps, which now in witer the car runs too cool. Fact of the matter; the 1g service manuels say the t stat dos'nt...
  6. Accidentally drove while overheated... a little worried

Take it out and run it. Gradually go farther. Maybe start by doing laps not far from home just incase it needs to be towed back. You can tell if the t stat is working by feeling the two radiater hoses. Only 1 will be hot when closed, and both will be hot when opened.
  7. Need some advice

Save a little money and get a low mile jdm motor. Even if you did it and decided you needed the money you could sell the car running for a nice little profit.
  8. Just bought an Eagle Talon TSi AWD - what to do and watch out for

First thing first, you need to let us know how good/ comfortable you are with doing your own work. If your not mechanically inclined I wouldtkae it to mechanic for a general look over or get in contact with someone from here in your area who can give you a hand. If you want to keep it reliable...
  9. Accidentally drove while overheated... a little worried

Once the belt brakes and you loose your water pump temps rise very quikly (like with in a normal city block). If you drove miles with no water pump, I would say you probably will have head gasket issues and very possible a warped head. I dought your block would warp. If I were you I would...
  10. car will not get to running temp, and heat is barely warm

You have checked everything to be checked. Their has to be an issue some where that you missed duing your checks. Both heater hoses should get hot and be equally hot. If one is hot and the other is extremely hot, then you probably still have a heater core issue. If both hoses are getting equally...
  11. What is this car worth / Is this car a good deal?

No proof of mods isn't good. Listed as having a new water pump, yet it is leaking. Buy it for what ever amount you think you can get by parting it out.
  12. need transmission help??

If your seriously racing; you may consider spending the money on a race tranny. If not that, you could probably get one from a used parts store. Try ( youneedapart.com ).
  13. Decision making! please help :)

I agre with just getting a turbo car. You can find some 1gs pretty cheap if your patient enough. You will move that none turbo a lot quicker if you leave it stock.
  14. Will turn over but wont fire

If your timing checks out okay, you should check your crank position sensor.
  15. 2G Low vacuum and stuttering

2nd that on checking plugs and gap. If you have means of logging, check what the throttle position sensor, cam and crank sensors are doing.
  16. Is my clutch toast?

I had a xtd clutch in my 338 torque fwd and the disk springs didnt last long. On the other hand I have had good luck with fidanza clutches.
  17. Top Gear America ... Failure?

They should have just came up with a new show. I feel you have no choice but to compare it to the Brit. version and it is bad when making that comparison. This show needs a dsm tribute episode to make it more enjoyable.
  18. yet another disgrace...

    Wow; that is special.
  19. Hard start after 14b swap?

Could possibly be a coolant temps sensor acting up or fuel pressure taking a while to get up.
  20. FWD, RWD or AWD

80 % daily driver; awd is defenitely the way to go. Plus great for all forms of racing when used properly.
  21. bpr7es with my mods?

I believe it's the ngk web site that has good information regarding spark plug temp range. Check it out
  22. Boost Leak Test problem

You shouldn't be getting a leakthrough the oil fill unless the valves are not closed all the way or head gasket not sealing properly. Make sure the leak isnt coming from a fuel injector o ring. May be leaking from the injector by the oil fill. Good luck
  23. New Build - Hesitation On Acceleration

I take it that you inspected cylinder 2 cyl. wall. If a piece of the ring broke it could of ate up the wall. Also pull your plugs and make sure none of them are fouled. I guess th cylinder walls could be washed down.
  24. 90 talon tsi awd wont start have tried evrything that i have seen posted

Those compression #s are way low. You need to check all 3 timing belt marks. (Line on harmomic bal in line with T on timiming cover, Cam marks facing each other with cam gear dowels up). If timing is okay pull spark plugs out and clean. Disable fuel pump and coil and crank engine over with plugs...
  25. Suspension Recipe

I cn't really answer your qustion about that set up. However, you may want to check ebay coilovers. A frien of mine bought a full coilover set up for 2gs of ebay. They were only 300 and some. They seem like good quality for the price. Hasn't had them on the car that long though.
  26. 2G Car won't start / crank - I've tried everything

Could possible be the aftermarket alarm or the factory anti theft system if it has one. Anyway; you should check for power at starter solenoid like prev. mentioned. You should also check for power to the starter as well.
  27. 90 gsx converted to 92 rebuild

I would only buy it if it was being sold for next to nothing. A lot of work and monet to get it on the road. Also I think the 1ga front end is a lot better than the 1gb. Just my 2 cents.
  28. High idle when warm after driving

I am not sure if the 2gs have a idle switch or not. If they do, check it. I had a similar problem on my 1g and the idle switch had gone bad. If you have any way of veiwing live data, then check your tps reading and idle state.
  29. bad isc, running lean???

If you are running the wideband in place of your 2nd o2 sensor with out a simulator that could cause abnormal o2 readings. Try putting the stock o2 sensor back in, and see if their are any changes.
  30. Max engine temp

Depending on what thermostat you are switching between it can reduse temps. For 1gs the service manuel ses the thermostaty begins to open at 190 and is fully open at 212 or more. Under those conditions at210 the thermostat may not even be fully open. Therefore your cooling system isnt at it's...
  31. Max engine temp

I just installed a 180 thermostat in one of my cars. Temps dropped some (196 to 199). I do not know if it is the thermostat or just cooler ambient temps later in the day. We have been having 100 degree days lately and I am convinced thereis nothing to be done to run a/c and keep under the 220s...
  32. Max engine temp

Sorry, I have not updated my current mods. Both veh have a aluminum 2 core radiator and both currently have water wetter. Not disagreeing with you one way or the other, but why would Mitsu set all the safe guards at such high temps if the engine couldn't take it. The manufacturer normally sets...
  33. Max engine temp

Hi, it is now summer and thinds are heating up. It seems like evry summer I am trying to figure out some way of getting cooler engine/ coolant temps. I have done numerous searches on this web site and it seems no one has a clear cut answer to engine temps. I know a lot of us are constantly...
  34. High RPMS lean condition

What's up people, I could really use some help with tuning. I am getting a lean condition at about 5,000 rpms. I have tried richening up with the afc, but still remains lean. Everything will be fine until that rpm range and then i can get as much as a 30 count of knock. This happens with 13psi...
  35. AFPR Help ASAP please!!!

Forc Fed TSI this is a little off from what everyone else is telling you, but it is worth a shot. Check your ignition module beneath the stock FPR. Take connecter off and inspect pins. My car had a similar problem that you are describing. I had a lot of corrosion build up. Cleaned out and...
  36. What coolant temp is to high.

Hey, SinaiTsi my fans cut on at 206 and cut of at 203 aswell. All my thermo switches are new. My brother owns a bone stock Talon TSI and I took his car out and it reached rougghly the same temps.
  37. What coolant temp is to high.

GVR4592, If you don't mind me asking what type of temps are you running? Alsowhat type of climate have you been haven ,where you live? Last question are you running any duct work to the radiator? Thank you.
  38. What coolant temp is to high.

Please bare with me, this is my first time doing this (thread). I hope i am doing this right. I just recently bought and installed a Koyo radiator. I am sure my water to coolant ratio is presently off due to refilling with water when boiling over (didn't have coolant). I have now driven the car...
  39. What coolant temp is to high.

Hi, I recently had a overheating problem. The problem is my temp guage never showed as over heating. I drove the veh. at most 5 miles, and when I got out the car and was walking away I noticed coolant pooring out of the overflow. I have replaced the thermostat, coolant temp sensors (3), and the...
