Heres some pics of parts some guy got over on a contour forum. Hes making his own muffler also but he has more money into it. Not sure where he got the stuff but looks like some quality stuff.
did you disconnect the intercooler piping after you did the boost leak test? It sounds alot like a boost leak and if you disconnected the pipeing after the test then the test was worthless as the leak is often inthe piping/couplers.
You got a great platform to start with as already stated. Dont worry about crankwalk, it is more common on 2g's but it still is not as common as most think. Good luck with the car and have fun
IM about 45 min away in elizabethtown pa. selling my talon next week but will be slowly building a 1st gen from the motor out. Buying a house so the car will sit in the garage but i will still be in the scene just not driving a dsm.
well...not sure if anyone was planning on going but it looks like the weather at cecil is going to be pretty bad so we are going to maple grove instead.
The best and easiest way to get the "big mounts" out is to use a press. If you dont have one take them to a shop with a press and they will charge like 15 bucks at the most. I got lucky and had my friend take mine to the machine shop he works at and he did them in 10 min for free.
Id give bars leak or something of that sort a try and if that doesnt help then i would try some epoxy. Ive used epoxy before on beater car radiatiors and it held up fine but i would try the cheap fixes first if you dont have much extra cash and save up for a new radiator down the road.
Or...
It was also a pain for me. Took me about an hour.
Just put the bolt in the rear mount then in the passenger side mount then the front one. Do not tighten any, just put the bolts through. Then using the jack to move the motor around try the last mount on the drivers side. I had to use a prybar...
Wondering if anyone wants to meet at the track. I am going to either cecil county raceway or maple grove. If someone is interested in meeting that will make my decesion for me. Going in 2 or three weekends for heads up racing, friday night. Will be me and my buddies srt4w/ new agp turbo kit.
I am running a xtd six puck sprung clutch. seems to do pretty good for me. I only have 300 miles on it sofar though. Im in Elizabethtown about 20 to 30 min out of harrisburg.
I would try adjusting your clutch pedal. After my clutch install, all was good untill i got on the highway then it would slip like your seeing. After a few adjustments clutch hasnt sliped a bit.
I havent cruzed up there with my talon yet i used to from time to time. Im in elizabethtown and usually cruise the loop in york. Too damn cold to do any cruising now though. Not to mention i need injectors since I got hosed for my 550s on dsmsource. Next week i should be back up and running and...
Say you got screwed over on a deal, what are the steps to take. Here is the senario i am in now, I sent a guy on dsmsource.com my set of RC 550 injectors and in exchange I was to recieve RC 660 injectors, and of coarce(sp check) I never received any injectors after overnighting my 550s out. its...
He is N/A.
And deffinatly dont put a 255 in a car with stock fpr. For a non turbo car i wouldnt worry about a higher flowing fuel pump yet. I dont know n/A 2gs but you should be fine with a stocker or maybe a used stock turbo fuel pump may fit and flow more, not sure on that though i would...
Coolant overflow looks good. But for the hoses id look into the samco hoses. You can get them on ebay for about 75 bucks shipped. Much better on the wallet with same outcome.
take it to the closest dealer and have them look at it. I had mine done about 10 months ago on my 1995 tsi fwd. Free parts and labor at the local dodge dealer. Should still be an open recall.
yes you will either have to take it off or cut some out. an alternative to this is getting a different kit with a intercooler core that is not so tall, say 8". I did cut my support to make the intercooler fit and if checked could be illegal but most dont care. Also you are adding a 3.5" thick...
pretty much when putting on a front mount you will need to do some cutting the bumper. And yes with the xs power kit you will not be able to keep your fogs. And to the second link you provided with the other kit it does look like the same pipeing with a different core and the way the core is...
Clean the area around the boot of the slave cylinder and then take it for a drive. THen check the boot and see if there is any fluid coming out around the boot. Also check the master cylinder, looking inside the car under the clutch pedal rod. Here is a good link on how to properly bleed the...
It is flanged for the 1g bov. YOu will need to cut some of the bumper to make it fit and also either loose your bumper support or cut that also. TO make the install much easier and bolt on i used a jpipe from i believe fp performance and a 2" silicone 90 degree elbow. and you will also need 2...
I just got done putting in a new clutch and flywheel, while there i put in new axle shaft seals and i think i pushed the one in to far and am not getting a seal. Im going to pull the axle again and put in a new seal. How much fluid am i going to loose from pulling the axle? I have a extra qt of...
I just installed the stage 3 xtd clutch and a fidanza flywheel. I like it sofar grabs great. Havent put boost to it yet since i only have 175 miles on it. Very happy with it.
I just put royal purple syncromax in my car also after the clutch and flywheel install. Seems like great stuff. I get it for $6.31 but i thing normal price is close to $11.
The injen adapter plate is not 5" it is 4.5". The filter part # you want is RU-3480. For the best price go to summit racing and print out the page for the filter and take that to advance auto parts. They will price match and save you the shipping cost. By the way at advance the part # they...
I would recomend getting your logger set up and get an safc. Deffinatley hook the afpr up. With the 255 you are way rich. And to your question, yes using a 255 you need to tune to get your car to run right.
i know i read somewhere before that they are thinking about doing dsmlink v3 that will handle the gm maf without a maft. WHere are they at on this? Will this be by spring, that i should wait to buy till then or is that on the backburner?
Sorry for the safc, maft vs dsmlink thread but ive read and still in limbo. I never really gave dsmlink a thought since i didnt want to buy a labtop but my comp is craping out on me and im buying myself a labtop for christmas. so now im looking into dsmlink.
My question is would you sell...
I would change the tranny fluid. I had the same problem on my 2000 eclipse gt and put in some bg syncroshift and it helped out a whole lot. As for the other problems i would do a boost leak check and go from there.
Just buy the kit. It cost $8.99 at advance auto and will last for atleast 4-5 cleanings. And works great. I would also recomend cleaning it at every oil change.
the 14mm is the one you want. I personally use the acton and i beleive it to be accurate. If you ever have a problem with any of thier products just call the company and they stand by thier products and will do what they can for you. I would use the extension since our spark plug holes are so...
i am looking for performance first and sound second. I ran 18psi before i put my clutch in now durring break in i am running 10psi but i never build anyboost. I am getting a evo3 in the spring when the clutch is ready for boost and i plan on running around 20psi at the track and 16-18psi daily...
Heres what i replaced when i did mine the other day.
clutch plate and disc
fidanza flywheel
stainless clutch line
axle seals
oem mitsubishi tob
tranny fluid with something good i used royal purple syncromax.
and if you havent already i would check out your slave and master cylinder. i...
I am currently running a 1g bov with dodge garage mod recirculating back into intake. I am getting ready to go maft and am buying a apexi dual chamber bov from a member, to vent. I am wondering your thoughts on the apexi? Should i vent the apexi with the maft or vent the 1g with maft? Or sell...
I love my 14b with my mods. It is a great turbo to hold you over while you get the supporting mods to get the most out of your car. Id say right now you can get more power out of a 14b with supporting mods than a EvoIII with the mods you currently have. I dont have experience with the EvoIII...
yeah i had this problem also, being 6'5" can have its down sides. My main problem was the steering wheel rubbing on my knee. So i bought a steering wheel and hub kit off ebay for 65 bucks. Brings the steering wheel down a little and also maybe a little closer. The 2gs are the only ones that i...
yes all that is needed is the bumper cover and headlights for the front conversion. You will also probably want the foglight bezels and foglights or you will have 2 big holes. When converting my talon i fiberglassed those which, i think looks real sweet expecially with the frontmount.
Ive never hit fuel cut on my 2g w/14b and 550 injectors and 190. But i have always had safc2 and pocket logger. My Stock fpr died within 4 months though so i bought an afpr and now wish to go bigger on injectors and pump.
thanks for the replies guys. I will not go with adjustable cam gears. I know this is not head work but what do you think about stroker? I know ppl say no with fwd. But i can pick up a 2.4 crank for a good price and buy some good stroker pistons. You think stroke it or just bigger turbo. After...
Well i finally got a beater car. So i can afford down time and am going to be tearing the head off to put in 1g cams and new cam angle sensor and 3g lifters. I am still contemplating cam gears since some say they are a waste. I am on a very limited budget and am looking for anything i can do...
Im pretty sure i need a new camshaft angle sensor but i have a stupid 95 tsi which has the cas behind the cam gear. Does anyone know of a way to change that with out going through the whole timing belt process. I just replaced my t belt in march and dont feel like going through all that again...
Ive been running my faze boost gauge for about 4 months now and love it. Reads the same as my old autometer ultralite. Also got a faze water temp gauge about a month ago seems to do the job quite well. Very nice gauges and match reverse glow gauges. And i the price is great $39 at advance auto...
