chain vs stainless wool inside of catch can

Hi everyone,I am going to be building my own sealed catch can setup for my car. I have researched this a lot but can't come to a solid conclusion on what type of filtration to put inside of it. Most of everything I read points towards stainless steel scrubber pads, but some say they still...

    Holset Turbos, PART 8

I am and it was nothing but a pain to make things work. The biggest issue was the front motor mount being in the way of the oil return. I had to do lots of cutting and welding to get the job done right. The primary reason i stuck it out is because i had a dnp tubular manifold with an external...

    Holset Turbos, PART 8

hey guys, just got my hx40 setup up going. Im seeing 95psi of oil pressure at 7500rpm. Running mobil 1 10w30, -4 feed off the filter housing-12 oil return. I drilled out a restrictor fitting i had sitting around so i could test oil pressure and not worry about to little oil reaching the turbo...

Looking for a STRONG Internal Wastegate Actuator?

Im sorry but i dont know... Im not arguing the theory behind it cause by the laws of physics your correct. Maybe i should have purchased a better manual boost controller? It just always seemed like my boost would spike then fall down to 24psi or so. Maybe the boost controller had a weak spring...

Looking for a STRONG Internal Wastegate Actuator?

In all honesty it doesnt really make sense to me either its just how i solved my issue. I also tried a different boost controller off of a buddies car and i still had the same problems. I didnt purchase the profec b with hopes of being able to hold more boost. I more wanted the ease of adjusting...

Looking for a STRONG Internal Wastegate Actuator?

I know you guys are all looking for a cheap and economical way to increase the boost on a internally gated turbo, but I was having the same issue with my pte dual bb 60-1 internally gated. I couldnt get boost to hold steady at anything close to 24psi and i had spiking issues. The lowest boost i...

    Wastegate flex pipe return

Thanks for posting the pics although this may work good to reduce vibrations that could brake welds im looking to recirculate the exhaust from the wastegate back into the exhaust system so its not as loud.

    Wastegate flex pipe return

Im confused with what you mean by throw a worm clamp around both. Do you mean weld up a custom dump tube to reroute into the down pipe and attach it to the wastegate and down pipe with a hose and hose clamps? If you did this could you post some pics?

    Wastegate flex pipe return

Hi i am curious as to if any of you have ever recirculated your external wastegate with a flex pipe like this? It seems like a cheap and easy way to reroute the exhaust back in without an expensive o2 housing or lots of fab work. Im just more curious if it would seal good and how the flex...

    Bargain Basement Big Brakes

Some one further back asked if the evo 8 wheels can clear the 3kgt 4pot calipers with cobra rotors. I didn't see any answers. Has anyone tried the evo8 wheels to see if they have enough clearance to not need spacers? Thanks

    Next upgrade need advice

Yea i was kind of thinking about getting the front mount because at the end of the track in 4th i start to see some knock from heat soak when tunned to the edge. I just dont want to have to cut the crash beam. If i went with the intake the engine would flow more air so would that would most...

    Piston "Rock"

The only way to tell is if you were to measure the piston clearance. Depending on the piston manufacturer the clearance should be around .005-.006 inches with forged pistons. The pistons are tapered from the bottom of the skirt to the top of the piston, so looking at the piston installed from...

Anyone running -6an SS lines for external oil cooler?

Any update on this topic? I just ordered a SBR oil cooler kit and i was a little disapointed when i opened it and saw -6an lines. I would have thought it should have had at least 8-an, but maybe im wrong? I compared the inside diameter of the -6an hose to the holes on the stock style banjo bolts...

    Direct port methanol injection

That is probably the main concern I had with this setup. When I thought about it the fuel injectors are even closer and fuel must vaporize to burn too, so i figure it must be ok. Plus the combustion chambers are so hot im sure the meth would atomize imediatly once it enters. I might be wrong...

    Direct port methanol injection

Couldnt find a thread on this and just curious as to how many of you out there have tried it? I know its a little bit more complex for slight gains, but i like the idea of knowing all cylinders are getting the same amount of meth. Any way just curious to hear from anyone that has done it and...

    Evo wheels on a 1g?

I came across a great deal on a set of stock evo rims and tires with very little use for a decent price. Will they fit on a 1g? I know they have the same bolt pattern but i think the evo rims have a 35mm offset compared to what i believe is 65mm offset on the stock 1g rims? Thanks guys!!!

Got bored and ported a cyclone intake manifold

Well i removed the major casting flaws with a alumi hog cutting bit then lightly opened everything up with a smaller cutter bit. To get the finish i sanded everything with a 220 grit sanding roll then finalized it with a 320 grit.

Got bored and ported a cyclone intake manifold

So things have been a little slow at work these past few weeks. I was sitting around and I saw my cyclone intake sitting around and some porting bits. Greddy RS compressor surge problem???

Problem solved!!! I put my lightly crushed 1g bov back on. Opens when its supposed to and held over 25psi on a boost test yesterday. It might not sound as cool as the greddy but thats not what im after any way. Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

    Greddy RS compressor surge problem???

Ya i'm starting to think the same thing about it. I also took out the smaller spring and it then opened as it should, but then no matter how much I tightend the spring tension it leaked still and it still started to compressor surge. It just doesnt seem like there is a happy medium. Im pretty...

    Greddy RS compressor surge problem???

Ok so i put the fitting in the lower part of the bov and it helped a lot but now the bov doesnt hold boost for anything over 16psi haha. So That is deffenitly not going to work. Now what is the difference between your bov fluttering and compressor surge. Because with the bov tightend as it...

Clutch pedal assembly - I think its worn out - how hard it is to replace?

Yes this is true but people have had the welds snap(probably crappy welds but still) and then you have to take the darn thing out all over agian. I figure, find one that has no play and weld it then you have nothing to worry about. Plus there is no downtime if you find another assembly and have...

Clutch pedal assembly - I think its worn out - how hard it is to replace?

It depends on how motivated you are to fix the problem. Honestly its not the easiest thing ever but i didnt think it was too bad. You have to pull the steering assembly along with everything else near that area. Just go to a junk yard and find a good pedal assembly in a car there. Take it out...

    EVO III 16g questions...

    1. The benefit of going to with a 34mm flapper compared to the standard 30-31 is that you will have less problems with boost creep if any at all.2. To put a evo 3 turbo on your car you will basically need a whole 2g install kit. That is Oil feed line(recomended from the oil filter housing)...
