I've seen a car at a junk yard that had the front licenes plate made at a vinyl shop out of reflective material. It looked so real from even 5 feet away. It was on the angled part above the fishmouth. It actually looked really good. Probably not legal, but I doubt a cop would ever even notice...
I went for the tasteful approach and painted everything. Might seem tacky, but with the right color(or lack there of) you can fully customize your interior without being ghetto. I spent months researching and thinking before I decided upon my scheme. It's somewhat subtle. And keep in mind that...
I used the letters off of a Camry. I took the C and I and made a D, then flipped the M. It makes a pretty cool AWD. Can't find the pics right now, but I take some more tomorrow.
I did my car with the stock white and Lexus Galactic Grey Mica. Thinking about finishing of the whole car in the grey now. It's been a year and it still looks great, but I don't know how easy it would be to sell. And I don't like the attention it draws. Or how easy it is to spot. I don't like...
Yeah, upholstry shop would be the way to go. Just about any one should be able to make a good one with the correct measurements. When I had mine done, I just brought him the old shift boot and the plastic ring that holds it in place. It matches the rest of the interior in my car, and fits very well.
I don't know why nobody likes the pop up lights. Back in the 90's I had a black GST made in Nov '89. I never had any problems with the lights. I loved them. The style goes well with that of the rest of the car. The only thing I would have liked would have been HID's that were direct replacements...
I would like to order a new 1G wheel from the dealer to put in my car. I gently rolled it a while back and the airbags didn't even go off anyway. I'm glad, cause I didn't need them. I'm wondering how much I could get for them on ebay. I'd rather put in 4 point harnesses. And I think the 1G wheel...
It must suck to live in hickville. Well, I actually live in hillbillyville, and we have 93 octane at the pump. I think the bike guy was pulling your chain homes.
Eastwood sells some really good stuff for polishing. I'll have to get into powder coating now. I think it's the only thing I haven't tried yet. Great info.
My timing belt snapped five years ago when I was cruising at 30. Luckily I had already put it in neutral and let the rpm go down to like 700. Right when it died I knew exactly what it was. There were marks on the pistons from where the valves hit, but no major damage. No oil though.
Lacquer is the paint used before the invention of Urethane and Two-stage. It was wiped on in a series of coats with a soft rag. I've heard of hot rods using up to a hundred thin wiped coats. It's not worth it if you ask me. They just do it to be old-school. Glasurit invented...
Excatly what they said. The higher the watt, the brighter the bulb. Just like in your house. You're turn signal is amber anyways. Why would you need hyper white? Go with the money saver if you can find it. :thumb:
There's a kind of clear-coat that isn't sprayed on?I'd say it's a bad idea. It will make everything shiny. And it won't adhere well if the paint wasn't made to be clear-coated. Shiny=reflection of light. :notgood:
If you get some 1000 grit sandpaper and sand the hell out of them, you can buff them shiny again. Or take it to a shop and have them do it for you. Same thing if you use chemicals.
Make sure if you paint in with spray paint, don't buy the cheap stuff. The new Krylon for plastics has give me good results on certain projects. For prep, get a grey Scotch-brite, tape around it with some masking tape, scuff it up, wipe it with "wax and grease remover" and then a tack-rag. Then...
I don't see what the big deal is. I'm 6'2" 215 and I fit just fine... As long as someone my size isn't sitting in front of me. Maybe everyone's just fat. :tease:
I would try using a more subtle mix of colors like black and gray, maroon and charcoal, red and light met charcoal. Something like that. Metallics usually look good as a second color, or transition color.
Related question...Anybody know where to get, or what vehicle has metal emblems that look good on a 2g? I was thinking of getting the Mitsubishi logo and possibly "ECLIPSE" from the 4g. Does anything have an "AWD" that would match, or come close?
Has anyone out there had this problem or ever heard of anything like it?Every time I turn off my engine for more than a few minutes, the ECU resets. Normally the battery has to be disconnected for a pretty good amount of time for that to happen. It seems to sometimes reset in under fifteen...
Sorry, that would only be for a high resolution photograph. And for professional level results. There are obviously numerous ways of achieving the desired results. Removing the hood only takes 5 minutes, but requires more physical effort than sitting at a computer for an hour. All depends on how...
You know, in England (was stationed there for two years while in USAF) they outlawed eating and drinking while driving years ago, and then last year the use of a cell phone without hands-free kit. I think they are all good laws. They are well enforced and keep a lot of bad drivers out of accidents.
Easiest way to do this is to use a tripod and take two pictures hood up/down. Even easier way, before I continue, would be to remove the hood for the second picture. Might take a couple of minutes, but much less time than cutting out the front clip. Then you could just put the engine photo as...
For better times, try some bolt on mods. Read the thread on here..."First things first" and "The Bible"
You can add a lot of horses by adding the parts listed on stage 1. Sound like you did quite a few things on stage 2. Your car's gonna haul ass if you do that stuff. :thumb:
I don't know. I just pulled the entire unit from my 2G and it feels every bit as heavy as 30 lbs. The hatch however, I just picked up and it feels like a good 60 lbs or so.
I've been professionally doing headliners for quite a few years now so I know a little bit about what I'm saying.I wouldn't use any foam, as it is not really needed for anything but insulation. Car manufactures incorporate into the headliner design so it will wear out after a few years...
