So the last week I've been doing quite a bit of browsing the forums. I'm pretty sure I want to pick up another 2G after all. Too bad it is quite aways off still. This thread has a lot more detail of what I was doing with the last one:

I haven't had a DSM for awhile but have been thinking about picking another up next year. I forgot about this aspect of things. It is annoying. I don't have that problem as much in my CTS-V or SRT8 Jeep. Also generally less attention from police in those as well.
I guess this thread is a reintroduction of sorts as I haven't posted here in over two years. I used to have a '97 Talon AWD that I was planning on competing in NASA's Performance Touring format. The combination of starting with a rusted out car and a lot of personal issues that came up led to me...
I would like to get my cage built soon and am looking into what options are available to me in this area; the closer to Cheyenne the better but I can haul the car further if neccesary. The car is a 2g AWD that needs a road race cage built to NASA CCR requirements. Currently the car is on...
I think it's been mentioned in this thread, but in the meantime pick up a CGLock if you're just looking to be better held into your seat. I would say that the CG Lock has been the best mod for the track I have in my CTS-V. As for the Talon though, fixed back Corbeaus, 6 point harness and full...
You should probably use that for practice though. :DIt can take awhile to remember the track and your line on a 2 mile road course let alone one that long, especially with elevation changes.
Cool. Thanks. I've been needing to pick up a set of race pads for the Brembo calipers I have. I'll see how this goes....now if I could just 'finish' the damn car. :D
PPIR is just a few miles down the road and PMP is in Pueblo. Both are road courses. The first NASA event is April 10-11. Everyone should sign up and bring their cars out. :)
It'd be funny if you had the whole bear down there but up a bit so his head popped up above the waistband of your pants. You'd have to go shirtless all the time.(And I know my first sentence has a few potential jokes in it)
Thought I'd add something constructive to the thread (or at least try to)...Here's the RHD Fiero Build I was talking about: Lets Convert a Fiero to Right Hand Drive - Pennock's Fiero ForumI just skimmed, but it looks like by using a chain drive unit and something similar for the brake pedal...
I was going to mention the Fiero Australia thing. There's actually a write up on it on one of the Fiero forums. Really didn't seem all that 'hard' from what I remember. There's actually a few of them that have been converted.
My advice is to stop at the BA. :DObviously joking, but going back to school does kind of suck (graduated in '07 and just started again this past fall).Side note: I find the title of this thread slightly amusing...
I currently have the book International Organizations: Principles and Issues sitting in front of me right now... :DIt's for my Master's. :( While I used to read a fair amount for leisure, I really haven't lately. After I finish up this degree (or before), I would like to get back into it...
I'm right there with you. With all these damn inspections we've been having at work, 6 day a week 10-12 hour days are typical. Too bad I don't get paid by the hour. :DThe only major thing I still need to buy for my car though still is the cage I think. Having the time to put all these parts...
I've been in the Air Force for 2.5 years now (did AFROTC in college). As already mentioned, there are some definite pros and cons. Having a secure job (at the beginning of last year, my mom had to take a 12% paycut while I was getting a 3.5% raise :( ) that most people respect clearly fits in...
On that note, what non-suspension bushings can be swapped with metal replacements to help handling? (I can't run metal suspension replacements on my set-up)
My car doesn't have the stock SMIC ducting, so I've never seen it, but would it work on the opposite side? Maybe mount the oil cooler opposite of the SMIC?
Yeah, I wasn't saying that the +s are THAT great, just that I wouldn't use anything better on the street as I think they're about the limit. That said, I get little to no fade even on street tires even with a 3850 lb car. Granted we're talking a completely different rotor/caliper setup though...
No experience on the track yet with my Talon, but I run HP+/HPS (front/rear) on the street and track with my CTS-V. I think the HP+ is about as good as you can get without having to swap pads for the track if you don't end up wanting to do that.
Thanks for the pad recommendation. Considering how happy I am with my CTS-V brakes on street tires and HP+s, I can't wait to see how the Talon with R comps and race pads does. :DWith the exception of Link, I think we came up with about the same total. I was kind of hoping that it would fall...
You can go as wide with the tires as you want, it's just that you take points for how much you deviate from the base class tire size which is 235 for PTE. Points assessed like this: 10mm +1, 20mm +4, 30mm +7, 40mm +10, 50mm +13, 60mm +16, 70mm +19, 80mm +22, 90mm +25, 100mm +28, 110mm +31...
See NASA's Performance Touring - Home for description of the race class and rules.2G AWD is based classed PTE* and my plan is to run PTD. Basic plans for the car:
-215ish awhp (lofty goal for a dsm, eh?), 3000 lb race weight with driver and safety gear
-Stock 7 bolt, T-25, SMIC...
This thread is part of the reason I bought a sedan. My CTS-V is faster and louder than my Talon or Fiero, yet it's under the radar and the cops don't even look my way unlike with the other two cars. Plus having your car registered in a different state than you live helps with other stupid...
